Sylvester heard the scream and rushed to where Titania was. He couldn't help but cover his nose due to the lingering foul smell.
"Who in the right mind would throw a freaking human head?!"
The Archduke saw how frustrated the young fairy was as her dress slowly turned into a red colour. "I told you not to wander off."
Titania, who was feeling nauseous because of what she saw, didn't want to argue anymore, "Okay, Okay! Let's just go to the city."
The two continued walking until they reached the colossal gate towards Sherfield city as if nothing had happened. Although the other part of the gate is already broken, they didn't mind.
What greeted them was a mess. Houses were destroyed into pieces, blood, and corpses everywhere. Titania remembered that night she first arrived at this place; it was terrifying but being with the Archduke makes her at ease. Since the man beside her is much scarier.
"W-Who are you?"
An old man appeared with a fatal wound on his arm, and many bruises could be seen on his face. He was shivering as he spoke to the unfamiliar person in front of him.
However, when the old man saw the deep purple eyes of the Archduke, he grew terrified and fell to the ground. "D-Devil."
That's when the other survivors went out of their hiding and charged towards the Archduke. Sylvester pushed Titania away, not letting her receive any attack from the citizens.
He tried his hardest not to use his sword as he blocked the attack of the poor people that are wounded from the demon's raid.
"We didn't come here to fight!" Titania tried to calm their surging anger, but it was futile. The people didn't listen to her, and instead, they kept punching and hitting the Archduke with a wooden stick.
"Why have you come here, you devil!"
Titania didn't know how to react to the people's anger towards the man. She couldn't understand why they were treating him like this when he had come to help them.
"We've come to help! Stop hitting him!" The others laughed at the young woman.
"You even brought the Fairy Queen to appeal to us? Sad to say, but we don't believe in fucking fairies anymore." A young man with a scar beneath his eye said as he charged towards the young fairy.
Sylvester quickly pulled his sword to block the attack. He's growing impatient with how aggressive the people are towards them.
"Leave! We don't need your help!" The man kept kicking the Archduke as he protected the lady from their attacks.
Sylvester, who's running out of patience, was about to behead the man. However, Titania quickly stopped him. When the Archduke realizes what he is about to do, he quickly calms himself. "We'll leave." He pulled the young lady away from the people.
"They even brought a demi-human. What a fitting combination."
Titania didn't like what she heard. This made her glare at the townspeople. 'We don't want to help you either!' is what she thought as they continued walking until they got out of the gates.
"I don't like them."
Titania crossed her arms as she rolled her eyes. They took their time to travel all the way to the south just to be hurt by the people. 'Is this why Lennox sent Sylvester all alone?' she thought.
If the Archduke went by himself, he'd surely burst out of anger and might have killed all the townspeople with his sword. That would make him a criminal, and Lennox will condemn him.
"So that's why. Damn that Emperor." Titania mumbled. She thinks that she's getting the knack of it with these mind games. Her thoughts were cut off when she noticed the Archduke walking away.
"Are we really leaving?"
The Archduke didn't answer. Instead, he kept checking the ground. Titania couldn't understand what ran deep into the Archduke's mind and just followed him from behind. 'Maybe I should train my body to fight,' she thought.
"We'll wait for them to come. Then I'll finish the mission."
Titania just nodded as she sat on the ground while playing with Bonbon, "I want to go back now. These people don't look like they're worth it."
"Are you sure the Fairy Queen should speak like that?"
Titania shrugged, "I am not the Fairy Queen anyway. If they treated us right, then I might have cared for them even a tiny bit."
"You're worse than me."
'Yeah right, say what you want to say,' is what the young lady thought. She's usually empathetic with people that struggle to keep their lives. Still, after seeing how they treat the Archduke, she couldn't feel anything for them at this point.
Titania thought that all humans are selfish, even in another world. Maybe that's why the Archduke chose to be the Devil.
Minutes have passed without anything interesting happening. This bores the hell out of Titania, 'Looking at the bloody lake would be better.' The young fairy decided to try out her magical powers while waiting for the demons to attack the townspeople.
"Shall we play a game?" The young lady looked at Bonbon with twinkling eyes as if she thought of something exciting. "What about luring the demon?" The little demi-human trembled in fear after hearing Titania's idea.
"You really don't learn from your lessons, don't you? I thought you're striving to survive in this world?"
Titania giggled and gave the Archduke a smug look, "You know what the people from my place used to say about me?" The Archduke shrugged with his forehead creased. He couldn't understand what the young fairy was thinking.
"That my inconsistency is the only consistent thing about me."
Titania's laughter made Sylvester let out an audible sigh as he continued to do whatever he was doing before. When they heard a loud growl coming from the direction of the city, Sylvester rushed, and Titania followed him. "Don't follow me."
The Archduke sternly said that to the young lady. "Stay with them." He added. But for Titania, it wouldn't feel good to just stay at the sidelines and watch. Sylvester ran towards the screams of the people while Titania climbed the tree beside the gate to get a broader view.
Lots of demons in different ranking came to destroy the already messed up city. The people screamed for help when they hit the Archduke with their weapons and hurtful words a minute ago.
Sylvester walked in the middle of the chaos with his sword in his hand. The swords he uses are the Imperial Family's Regalia and have been passed through powerful knights' generations.
It was bestowed as a gift to Emperor Luthren, and the Goddess Alynthia's mana resides inside the sword. Only those of imperial blood could wield the said sword.
The sword didn't have a name until it was first used by Alastair de Monde Alynthi, the one that sealed the Deleter inside his body. Then, it was named after him and currently called Alastair the Protector. The former Archduke Althalos wielded this sword and passed it to Sylvester.
It was said that this sword brings pure destruction to the wielder's enemies. The sword became Sylvester's companion as he went to war day by day; it witnessed how cruel and brute the Archduke had become.
The townspeople's eyes followed the Archduke as he paved his way towards the High ranking demons that led his trope. They weren't expecting him to help them because of what they did, but all that goes into Sylvester's mind right now is that he wanted to go back home as quickly as possible.
"I thought I have already made it clear."
The attention of the demons went to him as he spoke those words.
"Do not step inside our land again, or it will lead to your destruction. Didn't I tell you that?"
The high-ranking demon, also known for his name Abadon. He is one of the lords at the Lair Deamhan, where all the demons live. And the location of the gates to the underworld.
Although he has the title of a Demon Lord, Abadon is the weakest among the seven sins. All the demon lords have taken a sin to bear all their life, and Abadon's sin is the sin of sloth.
"K-Kill him!"
Abaddon's knight charged towards Sylvester and kept attacking. However, it was all futile. The knight's power couldn't suppress Sylvester's ability.
Being favoured by the goddess, there was no way for the demons to win from this man. And Abadon was aware of it. He just came back to have fun because he thought that the Archduke wouldn't come so soon after the war had happened between the two.
"I see. You, too, never learned your lesson."
In an instant, the low-ranking demons were slain by the lightning that came out of nowhere. Needless to say, but the Archduke has a high magic affinity with all the elements.
This is why Astra has enormous respect for the man. No one could ever defeat him to have this great mana that he could even create a contract with the Great Mother Terra.
"I hope you're fully prepared to perish."
As soon as Sylvester lifted his sword, the demon lord Abadon raced to escape from the Archduke, leaving all his companions behind. But it wasn't that easy.
Once you've become the prey of him, there's no escape. Like a mouse that's caught in the mousetrap, the only thing possible is death.
"My lord! We must drink the Deleter's blood!" One of the underlings called up to the Demon Lord, but it was too busy running away.
Sylvester charged at the demon lord but was blocked by his underlings. It wasn't until all of them perished and the demon lord was left all by himself.
"It's no use to plead. I am already aware that you don't do things as promised." Sylvester pointed his sword at Abadon's neck. He was about to behead him without hesitance, but his knight, still fighting for his life, grabbed the Archduke from behind and pulled him away from Abadon.
The Archduke quickly turned around and slashed the demon knight's head, resulting in blood scattering and even hitting Sylvester right on his mouth.
When Sylvester tasted the demon's blood, he felt his heart thumping so hard.
"You're a monster! Kill them! Kill them all!"
The voice inside his head commanded as he felt his eyes getting blurry. He fought back to the blood lust he felt, but it was useless. The scent of blood affected his mind, and he couldn't control himself anymore. Sylvester didn't know that a demon's blood could activate the monster inside him.
"Kill them. Until there's no one left!"
