chapter 5: the young mechanic

In the middle of the day, the man who has cat ears and tail was sitting in the top of the roof as starting at the fight between the two groups.

Although the fights was getting out of hand. Reno didn't mind as long as nobody notice him.

Through out his adventure inside the city. He got the few information he need especially the books that related to the world.

He read about a certain county named palman who discovered magic from thousands of years.

This makes other countries develop and research their own skills related to magic. Who's thirst for power to become a overlord in their each territory.

Unfortunately, the decades on dominating the world with magic has met it's rival called machines.

Like the magic discovery, mechanical machine was developed nearly a millennial, but that time was in the hands of gnome who treated it as secret weapon.

Gnome was race who hatred magic and think that the machine was superior over magic society.

Of course, gnome isn't stupidly enough to start a war since many races relay on magic and like them. They also create a powerful skills.

Although the gnome hide there invention from the world's eye. The goddess of faith has different stories for them.

When the prince from the devs kingdom killed the gnome's only princess.

The king of gnome became very furious as he told his men to destroyed the devs kingdom.

Although most people laugh at them. The king have none of it as there technology has finally revealed to the world.

With the king's order. They nearly destroyed 3rd of the devs country and even goes as far as destroying the capital.

This makes everyone to be surprised as they thought the gnome, who thought they weak has a powerful weapon that desolate the country for only one week.

Most people became fear while they though it was an act of war. But the gnome has none of it as the prince who killed the only princess of gnome turned into mechanical infantry unit called cyber soldiers.

Although some of the people who got interested in this kind of technology. Some of the people was horrified such thing and thus the war between the magic and science begins.

This makes Reno to felt bitter after reading the book.

He never expected that over the decades, the war between the two sides was still on going despite, the two side made a peace treaty for a preparation of the next war.

"Haaa ... Seriously are this people will never get Along?"

As Reno think of this, he notice that the fight he was watching was finally over. The defeated group run away to escape while the winning side chase them.

As for the wounded people, it will be the winner's decision if they live or die.

As Reno patted his clothes, he then when to the other district where they developed machines.

As he leap from rooftop to rooftop. He witness something interesting.

A small size robot who's height was only 5 to 8 inches was fighting in a small arena.

This makes Reno to be interested as the young mechanics was tapping the controller.

Each combination for the small robot almost makes the other opponent to be destroyed. But the opponent didn't back down as the arm blade cut the joint of the attacker, leaving him for a opening to counter attack.

Bam!

This counter attack maked him win the match, although he and his friends was happy. The opposite side was not as he curse his luck.

This makes Reno to remember his childhood days when he dream to be inventory instead of salary man. But life gave him a different route and he became what he was.

As he was about to leave. He saw several men forcing their way in to a make shift arena.

This makes Reno to frown as the leader of the group was looking for trouble.

At that moment, the 3 people finally arrived at the center and said.

"Who said you all can use this place?!"

Crack!

The leader of the group name Devon, crash the defeated opponent's robot with his foot. As he made a explanation.

This makes the child cry as the older brother tried to protect him and ask in a angry tone.

"Devon! What are you doing here! This is not your territory!"

As the man with spiky red hair ask. The man named triss was in the mid teens was confronted a large goons.

This scene was look like Chihuahua glaring at the larger dog. But Devon isn't intimate and said.

"Brat! Didn't you heard the news? You're protector black skull was already obliterate by 3 fingers, didn't your friends told you that?!"

As he shouted to triss, many of the people who listens are gritted their teeth's.

The black skull that protected them was massacred by the new group called three fingers.

Many didn't believe this since the black skull has dozens of people while the three fingers are less than by 10.

Although they didn't know how it's start. It didn't change the fact that the black skull was all killed.

The reason was the leader of the black skull head was display in the middle of the road along side with other people.

Most of the rival gang though it was a best chance to take the territory, since the three fingers isn't interested in territories.

As Devon gave a smug face. Triss shouted.

"That's not true?! The black skull will never defeated! Those heads are nothing but fakes!"

As he tried to tell everyone that they lie. Most of the people didn't believe him making Devon smile.

"I don't care if you believe me or not, but you must remember that this territory was ours!"

Bam!

"Ugh!"

A Devon kick triss in his face, the little brother tried to help his brother, but one of his goons grab him in his arm.

He tried to escape the man's gasp but his iron like grip didn't loosened.

As the boy cries, triss stood his ground and shouted.

"Let go of my brother!"

As triss charge, this kind of attack was comedic to them. But Devon have none of it swing a punch at his face.

This makes triss to nose bleed but he didn't gave up as he tired to fight back.

"Hohoho, this is fun!"

Devon look at triss as he dodge his attack. This makes his other goons to laugh at him. But Devon didn't gave up as he took something in his pocket.

This doesn't escape on Reno's gaze as he saw the rectangular shape object.

As it looks like he was going to stab him. Devon, smiled and said.

"If you want to kill me, grab a knife not a piece of junk."

As Devon about to block. A metallic sound was shot from it's tip.

This small object landed at his hands, as it suddenly gave a small explosion causing him to scream in pain.

What little did everyone knew, triss made a makeshift grenade launcher. But instead something like a gun powder.

He use dangerous than a gun powder in the modern world.

The saliva of fire salamander.

The fire salamander was a dangerous monster that spit fire, and when it contacted to any object. It suddenly gave a small explosion but also delivered a huge impact.

This kind of monster often use in military and alchemy. Moreover, it's very rare to acquired since the fire salamander lives in volcanic region.

But that's not all, triss turned the rectangular object in clockwise and the next moment.

A blade revealed and slash the other arm.

Although it was surprising how did he cut his arm with a small fibble arms. Reno who was watching the fight saw it wasn't a blade.

What people didn't know was the blade isn't made in metal but rather it was made in plasma energy.

This surprise Reno as plasma energy was dangerous due to unstable flames. Yet the kid did it and use it as his secret weapon.

"The kid is smart."

As Devon scream in pain. He glare at triss with hateful eyes. He never expecting that a kid will cut his arm like butter and his fingers blown up leaving only two fingers left.

While triss look at him with anger. He didn't notice that someone was endanger.

"Kid, drop it or I'll kill him?!"

Triss look at the man who was holding his brother.

He saw a knife in his brother's neck as he felt fear for his brother's life.

He never cared if he dies here but what he was afraid was his little die in this place.

Looking at the situation, Devon who was already anger shouted.

"Nick! Kill the kid!"

"W-wait."

As triss was panicking. Devon continued.

"Those who mess the red wolves will die in the hands of red wolves!"

"Noo!"

As he tries to save his brother, the man named nick was about to stab the boy. But for some reason his body became week.

He didn't know why and he falls to the ground while face was upward.

When he look up while he was dying, he saw a man wearing a black coat while revealing his animal ears and said.

"Shows over boys."

Reno who has a bow in his hand has finally made an action.
