chapter 17: demi human

Another days has pass, Theo and the group heard a crucial news. The intruder was killed by someone in the middle of the party.

Many people suspected that must be from the spy inside the mansion. But the problem was none of them couldn't find a spy.

Although the flyfish family was conducting a investigation. Reno and the others didn't care about the problems in noble society.

Right now, Reno was conducting a investigation on his own.

"Old man are you sure you are not scamming me?"

"I am 100% sure."

As the two of them was glaring each other. Many people who look at them as the two stared each other with menacing intention in the area.

As Reno look at the cylinder metal in his hand. The old man said.

"If you don't trust me, then give it a try."

Looking at the old man with suspicious eyes.

He then opened the led and took something inside the metallic cylinder.

What he got in his hands was steam sweet corn. Which he took a bite causing Tobe surprised.

"Wow?!"

As Reno bite the cooked sweet corn. He can feel the sweet and warmed in the corn.

This makes the old man really proud to himself. Reno never thought he can get something like this in the capital since most of steam sweet corn was either half cook or hard to eat.

As Reno pay the old man. He then climb to the rooftop and look at the view.

He's been staying the capital for a few days, but matter what he look the city. He felt that this fantasy world was beautiful in his eyes.

As Reno hop from rooftop to rooftop. He saw something that interested him.

There are four thugs that blocking the man's walk.

The reason why he was interested was this person wasn't a human but rather a humanoid dog.

This people are called demi human.

Unlike humans or half breeds. Demi human has a strength higher than average human and sometimes. There strength was halfway from the monsters.

Moreover, this demi human dog was protecting someone in his back.

This makes Reno to be suspicious about this people.

He have read once in the book of law that demi humans are considered as people but not citizens of the country.

Although they banned the people to not mess them up. Some people are willing to risk it.

As Reno watch the two groups are getting heat.

He then took the throwing knife and tries to experiment as he covered his face with a cat mask.

As Reno thrown the knife. The knife killed the man in instant causing the thugs to surprised. Then a notification pops out.

[You have killed the abductor.]

[You have been reward 10 crystal coins.]

When Reno saw this, he became surprised.

He never though that someone he killed was a high ranking. And this makes Reno to be excited.

When one of the thug saw him. He then threatened him and said.

"Who are you bastard! Do you want to be the enemy of the poison daggers?!"

As he threatened Reno, Reno didn't cared as he jump from the rooftop and took his knives in his wrist.

Upon hitting the guys forehead, the next guy draw his pistol in his waist and fired at Reno. Unfortunately the bullet miss him as he throws another knife at the barrel of the gun.

Unlike modern guns, this gun doesn't explode it's barrel but the gun didn't fired it's shot. As a result. Reno gave a straight punch causing him to lose two teeth.

"Ugh!"

As a man cries in pain. Reno look at him with his cold eyes and took his new rifle and said.

"In your next life, Try to be a good person."

"Fuck yo-."

As the thug's head explode. Reno look at the demi human who looks like a humanoid dog and ask.

"Are you okay?"

"Where fine thanks to you young man."

As Reno nodded. He saw the small figure in the man's back and saw a half breed dog boy.

He looks shy but he thank Reno which he makes a small smile.

When Reno left the ally, the demi human dog's face became cold as he look at the dead thugs and said.

"What a pity."

What Reno didn't know was the demi human got everything controlled and saw about to kill them from the spot.

He will going to make the thug's life miserable. But when he look at the boy his face change into warm smile and ask.

"What do you think about that man young prince?"

As he ask the boy who looks like afraid a bit. He then stop acting like a scared child and said.

"He is not bad but he still have long way to go."

"You're right young master."

"Anyway, let's go. That marquis was probably waiting for us."

As the demi human bowed his head. Both of the walk out from the alley.

After saving the two people, Reno could only do was to scratch his head.

His been looking for any information that related to his quest and so far. None of his interrogation or even spying in the slums didn't work.

As Reno was sitting in the roof, he decided to go to arms deal.

Unlike other arms deal who have stocks of weapons.

The arms deal in the city only sell a flint pistol or even hunting rifle.

Most of the rifles need a special certificate to get one. And Reno who has affiliated with the princess or rather, reward for his bravery get the rifle easily.

When Reno arrive in black market area. He notice that some of the people has a serious on their faces.

Reno can tell that something isn't right as the communication stone vibates.

"It's Reno who is it?"

As Reno answered the call. Theo spoke.

"Reno we are currently escorting the princess in the royal palace where are you?"

When Reno was about to answer, he saw a man pointing his rifle on him and said.

"Shit."

Reno quickly dodge the bullet that coming right after him but it's far too late. Lucky the mana bullet shot the communication stone as Reno tried to escape.

He didn't stay their for too long since it will alerted many people in the area.

Most of all since he was in the black market area. Many people will think that he was an enemy.

"Dammit, where should I go?!"

More and more people are changing as they fired there rifles on his back.

There are some cases that Reno shot back but he didn't know if he killed them or not.

While Reno was being chase. Another notification pops out. But the problem was it's not a good news for him.

[The coup d'etat will start in two hours the current mission was terminated]

Reno couldn't help but to scream in panic. He never though that the enemy will attack right now.

But when he heard Theo that they are escorting the princess. He has a hunch that the debate will start today.

Since he doesn't have a information in noble society. He have guess that someone called for the meeting or rather. The nobles are already gathered which he didn't know.

As Reno wanted to scream. Another notification pops out.

Mission objective: find the noble's henchman and kill him.

When Reno read the mission. He couldn't help but to scream in anger and said.
