Alan's father didn't want to mention Blanch too much, so he cleared his throat and said, "It's just a piece of clothing; what's there to discuss? Let's eat."

Blanch felt anxious and restless. She excused herself to go to the restroom and splashed cold water on her face, which helped her calm down a little.
