"Hey!"
Lily yelled to attract the attention of three man standing together near the partially bashed car. But they seemed not to hear her as they were all discussing heatedly.
One had his back facing her direction, making it unable to see his face. She could see the faces of the other two as they were facing her direction but they weren't at all the same as the man that had actually hit her car some three days ago. With this, she was now left with the man backing her.
"Excuse me," she told the passers-by who had helped her out as she sought a way through the crowd to get to the three men standing at the other side. They paved way for her and headed over to the men.
"Please, can I know who owns the car?"
All attention were turned towards her. They could see a lady with a slight cut on her forehead standing in front of them. She carried an unpredictable expression on her face, contrasting her beauty.
The man who was backing her at first looked at her with arched brows, "Who's asking? A cop?"
She looked at the man sternly. In her mind, she made a comparison between the man's face and that of the man from the last three days. On a closer inspection, she realized they were of different personalities.
At present, she was slightly irritated with the man standing in front of her. Didn't he realize he made her bump her head into a wall? The scenario happened in broad daylight so he couldn't say he didn't witness it.
"A lady who deserves an apology." She replied calmly.
The man arched his brows more, trying to get a hang of the situation. "Apology? What for?"
She was beginning to lose it. Her bad temper was one she couldn't control. Even though the man's car was affected, she was a victim here so she definitely deserves an apology for his reckless driving.
"Mister," she began talking as she tried suppressing the anger mounting up in her. "You can't possibly say you didn't realize that you actually caused a slight accident for me,"
The man looked around to understand what she was saying. "For all I know and can see, it's just my car that has been involved in an accident. So, can you care to tell me the other accident you are talking about?"
Slowly, she raised her right hand to her forehead, pointing a finger to the slight cut on it. "This..."
Immediately, the man's expression turned to a sarcastic one as he realized what she was talking about. "Oh, that was caused by me? I think you should be more careful next time,"
More what?
"Can you please repeat what you said?" She requested patiently.
"Don't tell me your didn't hear what I just clearly stated. I said you should be more careful—"
KPOW!
A slap landed on his face before he could complete the statement.
"You should be more CAREFUL with the way you think!"
Lily glared at him with bloodshot eyes. She had vented her anger on him but she still couldn't control herself yet until she lashed out at him. As she became calm a little, she began walking away from the scene.
The man was in a daze as he placed a hand to his face. She had slapped him? He was confused for a minute. It wasn't until he saw her leaving the scene that he snapped out of it.
"Get back here!"
He chased after her. On getting to her, he held her back by the arm and shouted, "I'm talking to you!"
"Get your filthy hand off me!"
Without turning back to look at the man, Lily raised the hind of her heel to target the man's vulnerable spot... His groin! She gave a huge blow to it and immediately left the spot as the man freed her to attend to his manly issue.
She got in front of her residence. Her free hand searched for her smartphone in every of the jeans pocket and found it at the back pocket of the left.
As she brought it out, she realized the screen had a huge crack on it. This was as a result of falling to the ground when she had bumped her head. She hit the power button and used her finger to do a test run of the screen. Luckily, it was still functioning properly but she knew she would need to have it changed soon.
She scrolled into the contacts menu and selected a particular number. She was just about to put a call through when she recollected something. The person should be busy at the moment.
Instead, she opted to message the person as she exchanged the items in hand, the bag going to the left and the phone going to the right.
``Ryan, I think there's a problem.``
.....
Twenty-five minutes had gone since he got back to the office but he still hadn't been able to get anything meaningful done. How could he even do that when he had his mind completely filled with the session with the specialist.
This was thing he knew he had a mixed demeanor for. He couldn't call it a flaw nor an outstanding feat but analysing a matter each time he has a problem was something he couldn't stop himself from doing.
Dr Craig had specifically told him they could have another session when he recollects something from the dream within the next two weeks. But if he couldn't, they would still have a session nevertheless.
He was just about to put his whole concentration into the desktop when his phone on the desk vibrated once. The phone was on 'silent' in order not to disturb the peace of others but the one time beep indicated a message.
He picked up the phone and tapped it twice to power it on. A message notification with the name of the sender and the content was shown on the screen.
As he read the message content, his mind went through another round of analysis disarray.
``Ryan, I think there's a problem.``
A problem? He didn't bother replying the message as he immediately stood up from his seat, ready to get out of the office.
His assistants looked up at him, unsure of what he suddenly stood up.
"You okay, Ry?" Matthew was the one to ask.
"Yeah, need to get to the restroom" He replied and rushed out.
"Is something going on with him?" Megan asked Matthew.
Matthew's gaze was still at the entrance as he replied. "Yes. I think he needs to do number 2..."
Inside the male restroom, Ryan put the phone on his ear as he waited for Lily to pick up the call. He was a bit agitated as he felt restless on the spot he was standing.
"Hello,"
He heard her speak with the sound of a door closing at the same time.
"Hey Lily, what's going on this time?" He straightforwardly asked.
"There was an accident..."
"Again? Were you hit by a car?
"No, and don't worry about me. I wasn't hurt." she assured him.
"Phew," he sighed. "So, what's wrong?"
She went silent for a second. "Actually, I'm a bit suspicious about this particular situation with the last one,"
"Okay?"
"I don't think both accidents are mere coincidences," she stated.
"What do you mean?"
"It was the same car type of car that caused both accidents but they had two different drivers though."
"Really?"
"Yes. That couldn't be a coincidence could it? I mean, why will I get involved with the same type of car in a space of three days?" she wanted him to see reasons with her.
Ryan thought about it for a while. She was right. How could that be called a coincidence? In the span of three days? And with the same type of car?
"Where did today's happen?" He asked her.
"My street,"
"And the last?"
"My street too. I didn't even think of that but you see what I'm trying to say, right?" she reasoned.
"Yes I do. My best bet is that you aren't safe there anymore," He pointed out.
"Oh God..." she sounded a bit scared. Was she being tailed or what?
"I'll be coming over this evening okay? From there, we could decide the next step to take,"
"Okay."
"Are you hurt anywhere?" He chipped in with concern.
"Just a small cut on my forehead but I'm taking care of it at the moment."
"Alright, I'll see you in the evening."
