The Endless Hunt

The Gods are real, demons are all real, all their myths are real. And they're bored so why not use humanity. Humans have never failed to entertain them before but this time why not up the stakes a little bit and who knows maybe humans will go back to worshiping them. And why not up the stage for the maximum amount of entertainment. Let’s make all creatures from mythology real. And let’s add classes to this as well. Now some will die, but their deaths will serve as their amusement and some will rise to the peak's of heaven while others will descend into the darkest pits of Hell. And let’s make who awakens completely random because the humans always get jealous of others who they feel outshine them which causes them to act irrationally. Who knows, maybe some will rise high enough to even rival the gods and constellations and mantle them. I'm a recent Highschool graduate and this is my first ever novel. So hopefully you can excuse the beginner level mistakes I make. This is a passion project of mine.

Chapter 12

Khalil and Alexander separated and went on a killing spree in the forest. Didn't matter what the animal was, they killed it and brought its corpse back to the tree. Then Khalil would begin the bloodletting. He gutted every single one and let their intestines run to the forest floor. An intense smell of iron started to permeate the area. But Khalil's plan wasn't finished yet. He set up a perimeter around them and set up small traps that he had made from the forest trees. He set up trip wires and snares and even made a modified bear trap with only sticks and fiber. "Wow you're pretty resourceful," Alexander said, impressed. "But you know most of these traps will have little to no effect on this thing right". He continued. "No, they will work because I'm guessing once the person turns, they lose their ability to think rationally and only think on instinct also this could give me a perfect opportunity to test some of my class's abilities, especially once the guys that merchant sent after us get here". Said Khalil grinning. "Don't do that". Alexander quipped. "Do what?". Khalil responded. "That, that little grin that you're doing right it's creepy you remind me of an old acquaintance of mine whenever that fucker used to grin it crept me and your grin creeps me out even more than he did". Alexander explained. "Oh, come on, it's not that bad". Khalil said jokingly. "Oh, I almost forgot I need to do one more thing". Khalil said. [STATUS] Khalil said in his mind. Khalil ever since he learned about what Soul Points were had been racking his brain about what the first ability he'd upgrade first.

Khalil looked at all his abilities, read the descriptions of all of them and weighed the pros and cons of each of them. "I need to think about which one would help me right now and also would be beneficial to me in the immediate future". He thought. "Soul Points are used to level up my class abilities, right?". Khalil asked. "Yes, they are used to increase your class abilities, but your class rank decides how many points you'll need to spend to increase them. You have a legendary so the cost to upgrade them to higher level will definitely be a lot higher, but some will be more expensive than others but even at level 1 they're going to be very powerful". Alexander explained. "Well since I'm going to fight a crazed werewolf then I should probably upgrade this skill" Khalil said before pressing on his screen. {Player has no more Soul Points} After doing that Khalil went up into a tree and waited. Hours passed and the sun was starting to set. The sky was turning from the bright, pure blue into a flaming, mellow pink. Alexander is baffled by this. "So, you're just going to sit in this tree and wait?". He questioned. "Yeah, that's the plan especially since you said that if he or she smells enough blood it'll trigger the transformation". Khalil explained. "Well, what about the people that are coming after us for the coins? What's your plan for them?" Alexander continued. "Oh, for them, I'm going to use my own version of shock and awe". Khalil said while grinning deviously. "I fucking swear that smile always makes me uneasy". Alexander thought. 2 more hours passed, and the sun had finally set, and the moon hung up in the sky illuminating the forest. And just like Khalil predicted a blood curdling roar echoed throughout the forest. "Damn took it long enough, I thought I was going to have to go looking for it". Khalil said. Another 10 minutes passed before Khalil saw the creature. "Woah, this is a big one". Khalil thought.
