Prologue - Under the Cover of Night

The street was quite, too quite. This was normally a bustling city.

However now nearing the stroke of midnight not a soul could be seen out on the streets.

The patter of rain and the occasional crack of thunder was all that could be heard.

Well almost all.

If you listened close enough you would faintly hear the sound of hushed whispers. A pair of people hiding in the alley way just off the main street, trying to stay hidden.

"Did you get the items I requested?"

The first voice finally spoke, it was clearly feminine and spoke quickly.

"Yes Ma'am, I have everything you requested from all corners of the planet. Exactly as you requested"

The second voice stated with a smug underlying in their tone.

"Thank you, you are free to go."

With that the second figure quickly fled the scene and was presumably out of the city in minutes.

"I assume you heard everything."

The voice suddenly called out to presumably no one.

At that moment a third figure stepped out of the shadows, presumably having been there the entire time.

"Of course I did. However do pray tell what you wish for me to do with this information?"

They waited in silence for a few more moments, silently letting the rain soak into their clothes, until finally the other spoke.

"I need you to keep an eye on someone for me. Her clan is intending to find something that we can not allow them to claim."

A bright flash of light came from the alley way, presumably showing the person who it is that they are meant to survey.

"I was under the assumption that it was sealed away and anyone who has claimed to know it's location found that it had mysteriously vanished without a trace when they went looking for it."

"So please do tell me how these people intend to find this ancient artifact."

They turned to leave before stating one last thing.

"Besides she looks like your everyday average fairy nothing even remotely special about her what makes you possibly think that she could find what others could not."

The first figure called out to then making them turn around to seemingly continue the conversation.

"Do you even know where it's located yourself."

As they said they started shaking the rain off of them, the dampness annoying them.

"I believe I do, however I will need the others assistance if am to retrieve it."

She stated with an air of confidence.

"The elemental balance is out of order and needs to be corrected, we require this to achieve it an can not allow it fall into enemy hands."

"So I will ask you again, are you willing to assist me in this endeavor or will you sit back and watch the world burn."

With that final statement they stood an stared waiting expectantly for there companions reply.

"Well when you put it that way it just feels wrong to refuse, fine I'll watch this girl for you, you happy now."

With a smirk on their face the first figure left with only the sound of flapping wings signifying their presence.

With a sigh the only remaining figure walked off into the rain to begin their mission, silently muttering under their breath.

"I hope you know what you're doing, for all of our sakes."
