Chapter 30: Pushing the Limit

While Desmond started off to head into The Dark alone, Mykel struggled to push himself back up onto his feet. Every attempt he made since Desmond left was a failure though. It only left him in pain and falling back into the cushions of the couch. Still, he refused to give up, determined to follow after Desmond before it was too late.

“I understand your concern, I do. But I don’t think it’s a good idea for you to be chasing after him in your condition, Mykel,” Atlas scolded Mykel while he watched his attempts to get up from the couch.

“Does it really matter what my condition is?” Mykel asked through clenched teeth. Every movement of his torso sent an ache through his body, but he still was determined to get back on his feet. “If he tries to take her on alone, he’ll die.”

“Do you have such little faith in Desmond’s abilities?” Atlas asked, surprised by Mykel’s comment after the talk they had. The one he overheard.
