Journal Title: Damian's Life as a Dragon Tamer
Journal Entry #1: Week 1 as a Dragon Tamer
Date: ? (IDK if Earth's dates work anymore, so leaving it undecided)
---
Not sure if I'll be continuing this or be regular or anything else related to this whole journal stuff really. But thought I should write down my adventure. The DTS has a [Notes] section now after the v0.2 update which dropped a few days ago. But since I've already made a Note about System related stuff, I won't go into it here. This is more for my personal experiences, feelings, and all that sappy private stuff.
I doubt anyone will read it—unless the Admin likes to snoop into people's personal entries… or one of his superiors does. But I can't do anything about that except begrudgingly accept that I might not have much privacy now. Wow, that's some 1984-level of stuff when I think of it like that. *Shudders*
Please give me some privacy and don't read my journal. Thank you.
Anyway, here goes nothing.

Life's been strange for me these days.
I was just your average boring college student before I was kidnapped by some higher being who gave me a unique System and indirectly told me to do whatever I wanted as long as I could help him test the Dragon Taming System or DTS for short. Not to mention I was thrown to RWBY's Remnant of all places! That's some real dystopian world all things considered. From my hazy memories, I know for sure that this world is on the verge of being doomed. Hopefully, it hasn't already happened or won't happen, but this vague knowledge doesn't fill me with much hope, to be honest.
Though, on a positive note I admit, the DTS has been very interesting so far… But— no. Let's start from the beginning.
When I was first dropped into this world, I didn't know what was going to happen. But my laid-back attitude helped me avoid the worst of my emotions from floating up. All things considered, I did decently in such a situation.
I didn't remember what world Remnant was at first, so I foolishly spent hours roaming around in a dangerous forest where I could've been attacked and killed by one of those Grimm creatures. It still baffles me that I didn't die or get hurt at all. I call Plot Armor on it. It had to be! There's no other explanation. My 10 Luck stats couldn't have been enough to save me. Unless I was REALLY lucky. Which is a possibility too… *Sigh* Whatever. It doesn't matter now.
I'm still proud of being able to light a fire from practically nothing but stones, dry leaves, and wood. One of my best accomplishments in life!
Anyway… Then I received and hatched an IRL Dragon! Which was crazy in its own right.
Things only escalated from there.
…
Then there's the whole going through a portal and then owning my very own island where I can do a lot of cool stuff, like building structures, habitats, and more.
I named my first dragon Pyra. (And also decided on its gender for some reason) She's a Fire Dragon. And boy can she eat a lot. Not that I mind, really. I'm happy to feed her so she grows big and strong. She's going to be my protector if the training I'm trying to do with her bears fruit.
On that note, she's grown up from puppy-sized to almost as big as a large dog now that she's Level 13 from eating all the berries. The supply-demand is fine for now but I will eventually run out unless I upgrade or add more berry production, which I intend to do. The last level-up cost 4096 berries and the total so far, if my count is right, is 16380 berries. The amount is starting to hurt my brain. However, I've found a nifty feature that allows me to automatically 'feed' my dragon when she's in her habitat using the habitat control menu. Apparently, that's a thing. It's nifty. Now I don't have to fill an entire area of the island with Dragon Berries. They pile up into large mounds.
But back to the main point. I don't have very good comparisons for her size, but she's growing up. It was weird to see her grow so fast but I've chalked it, among other things, to her being a Dragon.
Dragons are magic. Period.
Anyway, I and Pyra have been living on this island in the middle of Admin-knows-where and I've been taking care of Pyra and roaming around, trying to find something to do when I'm not working to upgrade and improve on the island and its structures. Things have been slow, and it takes time to earn Gold which is paramount to almost anything I can do here.
Pyra, when she lives in her habitat, produces Gold passively. Still not sure how that works, but it does. I get 500 Gold every hour in my Inventory from her.
I did some math and it turned out to be 12,000 Gold a day. Not bad, to be honest. I won't say no to a passive Gold income. I certainly need it.
I'm keeping track of my current Gold so I can begin working on my plans. That is, getting my second Dragon and expanding on the production facility.
But I won't waste time explaining all that stuff here.
Anyway, there have also been some glaring problems in my life for the past week. Like, for instance, the lack of many basic necessities that a human needs.
The DTS has a lot of things that a Dragon needs, but hardly anything that is useful to me, a human.
And that honestly sucks ass!
I'd have been living like a caveman on this island if not for repairing the Hut as soon as I could. The Trainer's Hut came up with a couple items and basic facilities that have saved me from living a harsher life. The Hut may be small, with a single room and a basic toilet, but it's got things I need to survive on my own. Thank God! (Or should I thank Admin? Eh, whatever. He's probably on the level of Gods, if not higher. Plus he made this place so…) Thank Admin!
Still, I'm trying to adapt and overcome the problems.
I haven't brushed properly in a week, having to use soft branches from the nearby trees as a primitive toothbrush by chewing and softening the ends (not something I came up with but remembered from one of those primitive survival videos on YouTube) and bathing in salt water naked was fun for the first few days but now it has lost its charm. Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed bathing in the Ocean a lot. It was my first time seeing an IRL ocean and a beach and it was great! But I soon learned that the sand sticks to wet skin and that's very annoying to get rid of. I don't even have any extra clothing, so I've been wearing the same stuff for the past week and it started to stink by Day 3.
I tried washing it on Day 4 of coming here and letting it dry in the nice wind the island gets. So, I actually spent an entire afternoon walking around naked.
That was… an experience for sure. It was… strange and liberating in a way…
Wait… am I turning into a nudist or something?! Damn it.
…
Ah, the weather is really pleasant here. I do enjoy that feature of this island. The weather is always just right. The sunny days and beautiful starry nights with occasional clouds. The sun and moon seem just like on Earth. No shattered moon, so this most certainly isn't some island on Remnant.
All in all, living on this island, which I've decided to call 'Dragon's Retreat' after mulling over it one entire evening, is not that bad. Sure, it has quite a lot of problems and I miss the convenience of my home and civilization back on Earth, but this has been an experience. One I don't think I can forget.
Living here alone with nothing else to do— since I refuse to leave my safe space and go to Remnant when I'm still a weakling with nothing to fight with or protect myself with other than my dragon Pyra— I have mostly spent my days trying to figure out DTS, training and playing with Pyra, roaming on the island in hopes of finding something new and exciting, like the mountain top which sports an amazing view of this island and more, letting me see farther into the seemingly endless ocean surrounding this place.
Curiously, after a certain distance, maybe a few kilometers or so, there's a thick fog that covers the view of the ocean on all sides of the island. It almost looks artificial. Which makes sense, given the nature of this place.
But I'm not too concerned about that right now. I've still got an island to repopulate with structures and Dragons. I have no plans to go and search the Ocean. I've seen enough moving to know how dumb that idea actually is. Especially for someone as untrained and weak as me.
…
Finally, the last—but definitely not the least— thing I want to note here.
I haven't felt any real hunger and thirst until now. It's been a week and I simply haven't felt those urges. It's weird. I'm not sure what's going on with it, but my body feels normal and doesn't seem to demand any sustenance.
I've still eaten some of the Dragon Berries and Apples that I collected from one of the thick trees in the grove near the hut. Pretty sure they're not actually Apple trees, but they grow Apple for some reason and so I've been eating them just so I don't dehydrate and weaken my body. It's mostly a conscious effort, though. At times I forget about it, like on the first 2 days when I spent almost 40 hours without eating or drinking. It was only near the end of Day 2 that I realized that something weird was up and that I should eat and drink something even if I felt no hunger.
The Trainer's Hut has a magical clay jar that is always filled with fresh drinking water. So, I never had to look for it outside. However, I did find a pond inside the grove that seemed to have clear fresh water on one of my first tours.
Dragon Berries, as I've come to realize, taste sour and spicy. It's definitely not the taste I was expecting, but it wasn't too bad either. And, on a side note, yes, they're edible. I mean, I did eat them, and I haven't died yet or felt any sort of discomfort yet. So…
The Apples, on the other hand, are normal. Nice, sweet, and juicy. They're exactly what one would expect Apples to taste like. Maybe sweeter.
…
Anyway, there's a lot more I want to add here, and I've hardly mentioned the details but I'm kinda tired of typing on this floating keyboard. And even narrating is hard since I keep making mistakes or messing up sentences while thinking.
So, that's it for this week's entry.
Again, not sure if I'll write more here since it's tedious but at least I have a semblance of a journal of my Adventure. Just a bit of it.
I'll go and work on the new additions now. I'm really eager to see what the new Dragon looks like. Spoiler Alert! It's a Water Dragon.
Time to get do my job.
Bye!

A/N: So... I saw that I was so close to the 15k mark and so I decided to just fuck it and upload this. Not sure how I feel about this chapter, but I wanted to try this journal writing style for a while. So, here it is.
Let me know what you thought about it.
It was a short chapter, so I'll try to make the next one bigger and have hopefully more content.
