so can we fly" Athena asked he smiled and nodded picking up his saddle and bridle and equipping it on her it was a quick easy task especially with his practiced hands

"don't go to fast now I'm not exactly wearing my riding gear" he said as he grabbed her reins she nodded he placed his foot into the stirrups and lifted himself up throwing his leg over and sitting comfortably in the saddle on her back she waited patiently for him to give her the signal riding a dragon is like riding a horse in fact their is no difference in between the two he pushed his heels into her sides and she spread her wings and took flight

he felt at home as they flew around for awhile and she finally felt complete now that she finally succeeded him getting onto her back he was a bit harsh on the reins but that was okay in fact she would be a bit worried if he wasn't harsh after awhile she landed and just laid down allowing him to just sit on her back eventually however he did dismount

"when do you plan to leave" Christopher asked

"I honestly don't know but I promise to let you know before I do" Athena said he smiled and hugged her snout

"I'll miss you so come back soon" Christopher said she nodded

"I will my rider" Athena said he then released her and allowed her to take flight so she could return to the academy she saw Celica was waiting for her still wearing her valkyrie armor although this time she wasn't wearing her winged helmey

"I will allow you to ride me into battle however this will be the only time I will allow you" Athena said she bowed her head

"I understand and I thank you for this wonderful opportunity" Celica said before heading to her dorm she was inwardly very excited to finally be able to ride and she hoped her dragon would come soon Athena however was on a completely different train of thought as she went to find the headmaster and it really didn't take long

"ah Athena I see you have returned" the headmaster said

"I've done it I've actually done it" Athena said the headmaster eyes twinkled slightly

"done what may I ask" the headmasters asked

"he has agreed to be my rider" Athena said pproudly this at first shocked the headmaster but soon he had a bright smile on his face

"does that mean we shall see him in the upcoming battle" the headmaster asked but she shook her head

"he told me he isn't quite ready so after that will he join" Athena said

"oh I see slightly disappointing but understandable so miss Celica will be riding you then" the headmaster said Athena nodded

"I though you were the one to send her to me" Athena said

"I may have" the headmaster said

"when do we leave I promised I would tell him" Athena said

"tomorrow at noon why don't you stay with him tonight" the headmaster said

"really" Athena asked

"yes also ask if Celica could borrow his saddle" the headmaster said she nodded and took off enthusiastically not even caring to say goodbye he heard her land

"well this is a pleasant surprise" Christopher said

"the headmaster has given me permission to stay with you tonight and we leave tomorrow at noon" Athena said he smiled

"could we fly then" he asked she stared at him in pure shock for a moment

"who's the rider again" she teasee he smiled and enthusiastically hooked up the saddle before mounting her

"could I ask a favor" Athena asked as he was settling into her saddle

"of course anything for my dragon" Christopher said

"could my temporary rider borrow your saddle" Athena asked

"I don't see why not now shall we go" he said digging his heels into her side and she spread he wings and took off they flew after a few hours she landed and he just sat there comfortable Athena humming he eventually got down but he didn't go inside instead he went over to the left stirrup and flipped over the seat of the saddle getting it out of the way then he laid down and used her side as a back rest

"do you mind if I sleep here tonight" Christopher asked

"I will never in a million years mind" Athena said and just like that they fell asleep
