His fingers, firm but teasing, gripped her waist, pulling her against his body. “Do you know what happens to those who defy me, little pet?” His voice was low, dripping with dark amusement. He leaned down, his lips hovering just above hers, close enough for her to feel his breath but not close enough to touch. “They beg.”Elysia’s pulse quickened, her breath catching as her body betrayed the fear melting into something far more dangerous. A New Plan

When Elysia woke up the next morning, she was met with the warmth of the bed and the quiet of the room. Her eyes fluttered open, still heavy with sleep, only to find that Azrael was already up. The soft rustle of him moving around the room reached her ears. With a tired yawn escaping her lips, she caught Azrael's attention, and his gaze shifted toward her, a soft smile appearing on his face.

"Did you sleep well, love?" His deep voice made her smile.

"Yes, I did. Thank you so much for last night," Elysia said gratefully. If not for his comfort, she didn't know how she would have gotten through the night.

"You never need to thank me, love. I'll do anything to bring you peace and happiness," Azreal murmured as he moved closer, brushing his lips gently against hers in a tender kiss.
