<p>Charlotte is a personable woman. There is a reason she was so famous before her scandal and still holds a very large fan base despite it. She can be arrogant, of course, but she is also pretty and charming, and she does know how to be polite when the situation calls for it. She takes my words to heart and is behaving as we greet and talk to the other guests. It is... easier, not arguing with her.</p>
<p>"George Wickham! What a sight, I didn't expect to see you here. Mrs. Elizabeth finally managed to convince you to come, huh?" a good-natured voice laughs.</p>
<p>"Mr. Mayor," I say, and Charlotte perks up in surprise, peeling away from her other conversation to join my side.</p>
<p>"Come now! Call me Taylor, neither of us is working right now."</p>
