Chapter 9: Taste

When Adami got home. The front door of the house was wide open. She pulled into the driveway and forgot her bag to take inside. She jogged to the door. As she came to the threshold, her head turned to the living room.

"Now, I need your name at the bottom of the paper. Did you put 100,000 dollars. It's ok if you mess it up, I got another sheet."

"Osmani!"

"Huh?" a skinny almond brown skin man turned his head. "Oh hey Adami."

"What the fuck you doing with my mama?"

Osmani held Jaswinter's shoulder as she bent over with a pen. "Mama don't sign that!" she came to the table. "Mama." She didn't move and stayed slumped over. "You sign it." said Osmani. "Put yo' name on the paper." he ogled his head to the sheet. "I will fucking not!"

"Why?" he grimaced. "Y'all scared of paper?"

"It's not the paper. What are you doing here? Imma call yo partol office--"

Osmani pulled a gun from behind his back and laid it in his lap. "Sign this damn paper so I can get some fucking money."

"You on drugs." she spoke slowly. "And! I ain't never heard of nobody overdosing on methamphetamine."

"Osmani..."

"Yes?"

And they looked at each other. "Yes?"

"Leave my mama alone." she told. "No. And she dead." he tittered. "I broke in and her little heart was so startled. So, we here now."

"Mama!" she called her. She didn't move. "Mama!" she reached over and pushed her shoulder. "Mama move!"

"She is dead!" recited Osmani. "All I said was shut up. She got to the floor, she tried to yell at me... again."

Adami ran to the phone near the stairwell. She picked it up and gazed at the cord. "Did you cut the line!" she snapped. "No."

"Winter is dead, my dear cousin." he waved the gun at Jaswinter's dead corpse. "She never told you?"

"Told me what?" Adami wasn't showing fear on the outside but on the inside, she was thinking of every use the living room offered. She even proposed taking the curtains off the window and choking him. "Adami, I shot you." he breathed. "I shot you and her, this second coming."

"How the fuck you shoot people that's alive?"

"Bitch!" he shouted. "You are dead!" Osmani stood up and his figure changed. His face shaped different and eyes changed color. He turned to Adami near the broken phone.

He took his fingers and gestured a walking motion. "I shot you...." he pointed at the stairs. Osmani walked to the steps, he put his foot on the first step. "Right here. You was like... mama! And I came to the door and shot you."

She stood still. Osmani went to the door, he knocked on the glass with his knuckle. "Shot through the glass." he stared at her. Adami stepped back ready to bolt out the back door. "Wait!" he held his hand up. "I can read your mind, and gotta say, you fucking stupid." he pointed at his temple. "I am yo' cousin, been in and out of jail. And her ass knew some shit." he gestured towards Jaswinter. "She gone, Addie."

What could she do? The curtain idea was thrown away. Time to act dumb. "What do you want?"

"Money."

"So, being a vampire told you about money and not blood?" she snorted. "That's rich. Cause vampires can't leave without it."

"Actually bitch, you need bone marrow..." she answered with a straight face. "But it just seem like--" she screamed and tried her best to deattach his fangs out her neck. Osmani pulled her shirt from behind and covered her mouth.

Adami screamed, "Get off me!" She thought about his eyes because she didn't have a crucifix. He let her go and hoisted her up by her shirt. "That shit don't work!"

Osmani through her towards the picture on the wall of The Last Supper. The painting came down on top of her. His feet in her view, "You work at a bank?" he glowered.

"NO!"

"You just came from work." his eyes glazed at the door. "Don't lie." he tilted his head.

"What you want me to do!" Osmani pressed his shoes into the painting, pushing down on top of her more. "Go to the bank and give me 100,000 dollars."

"Wh-What you need a hundred thousand dollars for!"

"I need to buy a building. My team losing..." he smirked. "What car you drive?"

"It's mama!" she yelled.

"Oh! Good, that old bitch owe me anyway."

She just got off work and end her shift now she had to return and encourage her pay check. Osmani followed her to the front door, she pulled the handle and saw Keira in the office.

"Who's that?" he asked. "Keira work with me." Adami knocked on the door. "Let me in!"

She shook her head and left the front desk. Adami gritted her teeth as she walked off without her crutch. "BITCH!" she smacked the door. "What if like I left some personal items or some shit!" she growled. "OOO, I hate her!" she kicked the door.

"This is bullshit." Osmani put his hand on the glass and iot vanished. "Where the money at?"

"What?" Osmani tugged her arm tightly. "What's her name?"

"Keira! You need to cut yo nails!" she shouted. "Keira!" he called and dragged Adami with him. Keira came back as Osmani was walking towards the back of the bank. "This ain't America, Chase, or Wells Fargoor fucking Capital One!"

"I didn't open--"

"PAUSE!" he shouted and she was still. "Addie tell me what she does?"

"She work the desk! I don't work the money!" she fought him. He pulled her close, "What do you do?"

"Shit, fuck with people all day!"

She completely forgot to mention the talking dog from this morning. "What dog?"

"What dog?"

"Bitch, what dog came here?"

"I don't know!" He used his backhand on her. "Pull up all the people you fuck with at this bank!"
