Throughout the meal, Ciara continued her teasing, throwing in little comments here and there that made me blush and Riley chuckle under her breath. It was clear that my sister had taken an instant liking to Riley, and while her teasing was relentless, it was also a sign of her approval.
At one point, Ciara leaned over to me, her voice low and conspiratorial. "So, Seraphine, how long do you think it will be before Riley runs screaming from this place? After all, she's a bit out of her element, isn't she?"
I shot her a look, though I couldn't keep the smile off my face. "Riley is stronger than you think. She's proven herself time and again."
"Oh, I'm sure she has," Ciara said with a smirk. "But this is the demon realm, dear sister. It's not exactly… welcoming to outsiders. Especially ones who used to be human."
