The prince who sold his soul to the devil

Prince Amir-Ali sat beside his mom on a smaller throne; she was sitting on the Peacock throne of the ancestral kings, wearing a gloomy face. Aisha had just been crowned the Queen of Manila, and Amir-Ali the crown Prince. The young prince was worried to see her like that; he didn't understand why she was sad.

"Mother, what bothers you? It displeases my heart to see you like this, isn't this what you always wanted? To get revenge on these people for everything they made you go through for the past twenty years, to make them suffer like they made you to, so why are you unhappy?" he asked softly.

Even though he couldn't feel his heart and humanity anymore, a part of him still held the feeling of care for his mom, the urge to keep her happy. What use was his power if he couldn't keep his mom happy? He had sacrificed his soul to the devil so that he could get justice for her, so that he could give back to her what rightfully belonged to her.

"Ali my boy, I know you are doing all this for my sake, you are trying to keep me happy and restore to me everything that was taken away by these people, but I never wanted my beautiful boy to become what you have become today just to achieve that. Look around you my boy, is this really what we want? Do you think you are doing the right thing?" she queried sadly.

The Demon prince clenched his fist and gritted his teeth angrily, the darkness in him was itching to take over but a part of him fought to stay calm, even if he had become the devil itself, he would never harm his mother.

"What exactly are you talking about mom? We have taken back what rightfully belongs to us and punished those who offended us, isn't that what you have always asked me to do since my childhood?" he queried in a deep voice.

Everything about him had changed in the past few days, the way he walked, the way he spoke, the way he acted and his thoughts as well. It was like he was a different person entirely and the only thing left of the old Amir-Ali was his body and memory.

"Ali my beautiful boy, your intentions are good but your methods aren't the best… there are many other ways to punish those who had offended us, why death and sexual harassment? You promised me that you would keep your father alive, you always kept your promise, so why didn't you this time?" the elderly woman queried as tears rolled down her eyes.

Prince Amir-Ali groaned. "Mom… I can't believe you are mourning the death of that old man, he deserved to die and was never my father, a father would never kick his unborn child away to die in the wilderness, he is not worthy to be my father, neither does he deserve to live." He replied in a deep, hoarse voice.

"But Ali, that wasn't enough reason to kill your own father and leave his corpse to the vultures out in public, he deserves a proper incineration at least, you need to respect the fact that he was a King and should go like his predecessors. If you don't give him a proper farewell ceremony, his soul would never find peace in the underworld, please son… ask the guards to bring down his body and have what is left of it incinerated," she pleaded.

The prince sighed and looked away, he really wanted the body to decay till there was nothing left of it, to serve as a lesson to whoever planned to go against him in the future.

"You are not a god, son." His mom added.

He smirked evilly and turned to face his mom. "Oh dearest mom, yes I am no god, but I am the son of the devil now, I have been reborn by the King of darkness himself, and that equals me to a god." He stated proudly, his eyes glowing red as he spoke.

Aisha looked terrified; seeing what her son had become… She blamed herself for pushing him too hard. If she had never encouraged him so much to become powerful and get revenge on Manila for what they had done to her, then maybe he wouldn't be this demon he had become today.

"And what of Queen Saudat, I could hear her scream from your chambers last night, you could have found other punishments for her, you shouldn't disrespect your father's memories by sharing a bed with his wife; that is sacrilegious." she advised.

Ali growled and struck his hand on the throne's hand, cracking a hole in it. He took a deep breath in and then stood up. "You might be the Queen, Mom… but I am in charge here, and I get to say what is sacrilegious or not, I get to say which punishment is suitable for a crime committed. My kingdom, my rules!!" he barked

The Prince turned to leave but his mom grabbed his wrist, he turned towards her immediately with those red growling eyes, his face gradually changing to something monstrous. His mom let go of his cold arm immediately.

"Please listen to me son, I am your mother and I would never lead you astray… even if you don't want to listen to me, do me a favor and give the late King a proper final ceremony, do it for my sake son, I beg of you," Aisha pleaded in tears.

Prince Amir-Ali inhaled and exhaled, and then slowly his face went back to normal. "Fine mom, I will have what is left of him brought down and set on fire, you can go see him if you desire to do so," he muttered and then walked down the platform and away from the royal courthouse.

Aisha went down from the throne to the floor, shedding tears. Her lovely son had become a monster; this was never what she wanted for him… this was not exactly the great future she envisioned for him. Where did she go wrong?

Even though the King had hurt her with his lack of trust and the decision he took twenty years ago, she never wanted him dead, she just wanted to prove her innocence and regain her lost glory. The only person she wanted to have punished was Queen Saudat, the evil woman behind everything.

The new queen heard footsteps approaching her and she looked up, it was Gina and Monica, her two best friends who had supported her endlessly for the past two decades. They came to her and sat beside her, consoling her.
