Light filters in through the curtains, shining directly at my face.
I groan as I shrink away from the light and bury myself into the covers to sleep forever.
"Rise and shine love," Rodney walks in and places something on the bedside table "Five more minutes," I murmur as I sink deeper into my covers "Aww wish I could love, but you've already slept half the day away."
I throw the covers off me, to see him standing with a cup in hand and casually sips his coffee. I reach over for my phone to see that its eleven a.m, I shot out of bed and began racing around my room, not even sure why I'm rushing about "Why didn't you wake me?" I ask, circling the room than remembered I haven't even started packing.
"Shit, I didn't even get boxes."
Rodney stays silent; sipping his coffee while holding my cup, and follows me out of my room to the living room and I stop in my tracks.
"Your tea is getting cold," he says, pushing the cup in front of me, smirking to himself. I take it without a word, I'm a bit stunned to speak. The living room is sprawled with boxes and filled with the stuff I'll be taking to my dorm room.
I look over at Rodney and he's leaning against the kitchen counter, looking very smug and proud of himself "When..." I couldn't finish my sentence and he chuckled "Right after you fell asleep. I figured why not help out and make the move easier, the only thing left is your room."
"You know you didn't have to, right?" I walk over to him and lean back on the counter with him while staring at the boxes, I brought my cup towards my lips and the smell of citrus and ginger filled my nose and I took a sip of my tea, "I know I just didn't want you worrying over this when you have other things to worry about."
I smile fondly at the thoughtful gesture, I gently nudge him with my arm "Thanks," I say and he returns it "No need to thank me love," he says and than finishes his coffee "I'm going to grab us a bite to eat and while I'm gone you should finish packing your room."
He grabs his car keys, points to the empty boxes before leaving. I drink a little bit more of my tea before placing it on the counter and walk over to the empty boxes to take to my room but find that there's one that's occupied by a sphinx cat staring up at me like this was bound to happen.
"You fits, you sits, huh?" she meows in response, I place her out of the box. As cute as she is I need to pack before Rodney comes back.
I drop the boxes down on the floor in my room, walk over to my bedside table to grab my hair tie and tied my hair back before starting to put everything into the boxes.
It didn't take me more than an hour to finish packing everything, even my clothes. By the time Rodney came back I was done packing, even separated the things I'll be taking with me and those that will be going into storage.
We finish breakfast and I quickly took a shower while Rodney moved the things into the car. I finished my shower and got dressed, packed the remainder of my things before heading to fill up Trixie's bowl.
Like any normal cat, Trixie wasn't bothered at all by the lack of objects in the apartment. She laid there on the floor, rolling around as she looked at me with those big cat eyes, purring contently.
I am going to miss my little naked mole rat. I give her a kiss on the forehead and went to help Rodney with the remaining stuff. Most of them are staying behind to be placed in storage.
"Ready to go?" Rodney is standing by the entrance as I take one final look around and do a quick recount to make sure I have everything. "Yeah, I'm ready," I tell him once I was certain I wasn't leaving anything behind.
We get into the car and drive towards campus. It's a quiet Saturday afternoon, the streets of Blue Moon City has less people on them. They are probably chilling indoors, enjoying a lazy Saturday afternoon.
I'm not going to lie, I'm going to miss the sounds of the city and its bright lights. The campus is on the outskirts of the city away from human eyes. The city is pretty much over run with humans and there are a few Supernaturals who make their living here, you'd have to go to the center of the city, the City Hall also known to Supernaturals as T.S.C; The Supernatural Council. They are in charge of keeping records of all the Supernaturals in the city and to make sure they don't do anything that will cause chaos among the humans.
You have to be registered to live as close to a normal life as possible among the humans. There aren't a lot of Supernaturals who believe that they have to hide themselves because of human ignorance but we don't walk about them.
We get to campus and there are a few oncampus students out on the lawn enjoying the warm sun. I suddenly feel a knot in my stomach as we begin unloading my things. I look out towards the groups of student hanging out together and my eyes than travel towards the other side of the lawn where there is an afternoon training class. Maybe I should join, having a hand to hand combat might come in handy.
"You thinking about joining?" I turn to find Rodney standing beside me with a box, looking at the training class as well "Maybe, I could be the first hybrid to have combat skills," I say and look away to help him with the rest of the stuff.
"That would be badass," he smirks as he pictures a small half fae and half elemental girl taking down much bigger opponents. I chuckled and reach over for the last box than remembered something important that makes me facepalm "What was that for?" Rodney questions, "I forgot to get the keys for my dorm," I sighed.
"Ann, how did you forget the keys?" Rodney asks pinching the bridge of his nose "I'm sorry, I had a lot on my mind that day so I forgot okay, I can still go get them just wait here," I tell him before bolting inside, towards the admissions office hoping that it was open on a weekend.
Luckily, the admissions office was open and I got my keys. I take off with a sprint, turning a corner towards the entrance when I slammed into something hard making me stumble backwards before falling on my back side. I wince from the pain and rubbed where I had fallen.
"Anita?"
"Chaviv..." I breathe, I didn't expect to see him, let alone bump into him. I sat there on the floor not sure what to say.
"Sorry, are you okay, that looks like it hurt," he says outstretching his arm, I hesitantly took it, "Y-yeah, I'm fine," I almost lose by balance when he pulls me up, I forget how strong vampires are, I land on his chest to balance myself and I breathe in the spicy cinnamon.
The vision of being in his arms and him kissing my forehead crossed my mind, and I quickly stepped back as my cheeks burn red, and my heart racing in my chest. I need to calm my heart beat.
Silence fell between us and it felt like it was dragging on. Should I even say something, and if I should what would I say?
"So, your moving into the dorms?" The question came out of nowhere and it took my awhile to register that I was holding the keys "Oh yeah, figured I get close to school as possible," I chuckled nervously, "That's cool, maybe I'll see you around than," he says sounding a little happy about that meanwhile more knots were forming in my stomach.
"Yeah, maybe," I say with a forced smile and a steady voice despite the fact of how nervous and terrified he makes me.
"I'll see you around than," he says with a smile and walks off. I let out a sigh of relief when I see him disappear around the corner. I don't care what fate or a vision says, him and I will never date.
When I get back I find Rodney leaning on the trunk of his car talking to a group of nymph's, and they are all over him giggling. When he spots me, he waves and says something to them that makes them cry out like a child wanting their parent to stay.
"Don't worry ladies, we will have plenty of time to talk," he says seductively, shooting them a wink which cured their disappointment and sent them off giggling.
"I leave you for five minutes and already flirting with students," I say and pick up one of the boxes next to him "Jealous?" he teases and I roll my eyes "As if," I tell him and he chuckles "Don't worry, you're still my number one," he says and picks up two boxes.
I roll my eyes and say nothing, and lead the way towards my room. It wasn't as spacious as the apartment but it was still big enough, I even have my own bathroom and shower. Rodney thought it was best I get the bachelor dorm since I wasn't planning on having a roommate or making friends and besides privacy is exactly what I need as I figure things out. I don't want my roommate barging in and seeing white eyes or going through my stuff and find sensitive information.
Rodney places the two boxes down beside my bed, I place the other on the table "Not bad," he comments as he looks around "Its smaller and lacks a feline companion," I tell him and he chuckles "You'll get to see Trixie every time you come and visit. I'm going to get the rest of the stuff while you get settled in," he says and leaves, I start unpacking my things and feel slightly nervous about all this.
Apart of me thought I was going to be excited staying on campus like how I was when I was getting my apartment. It might have to do with leaving straight after class and not having to make conversations or friends. I don't have friends and the only people I've hanged out with is the study group which I wouldn't call that as hanging out, more like getting together to study than go our separate ways. They have invited me on more than one occasion but I always turn them down and leave straight after. I guess I don't have that much excuses now.
When Rodney comes back with the final box I'm already packing my clothes in the wardrobe and placing my toiletries in the bathroom "Looks homie already," he comments, "I guess so but I'm still going to miss having a whole apartment to myself," I say as I open the last box.
"Yeah, but this way you get to your classes on time and hopefully make some friends," he pointed out, "Shouldn't you be telling me to also stay away from boys, parties and drugs," I quiped.
"I'm serious, try to make some friends. You can even start with that study group, they always inviting you out, I'm sure they'll be glad," he continues.
"I don't know if I'm open to the idea of making friends right now, I just want to focus on my studies and hopefully keep my secret a secret," I tell him letting him know that making friends aren't a top priority.
"Okay, I won't push you," he says and changes the topic, "And speaking about secrets, you should look into that. Get more information as you can, maybe you'll find something that will tell you how to control it and if that doesn't work there's an alternative option."
I walk over to the door and close it to make sure no one hears our conversation, "You know, you haven't told me what you need a mage for," I tell him "I will, I just need to check something and if I'm right I'll let you know," he gives me a reassuring smile as I narrow my eyes at him.
"Trust me," he adds. And I do.
"Okay fine, while you do that, I'll go to the library and see what I can find about Fae Seers."
We both agree to it than head out to grab a bite to eat. We go to Mr. Big's drive-thru to get our food and Rodney drops be back at campus before heading to work.
I decide to start by the library before I eat. So, I put my food in my room and than headed straight for the library. The sun was already setting, casting the sky in warm reds and a tint of gold. I noticed a few more students on the quad, probably vampires. Unlike what stories have been told vampires aren't weak against the sun, it just causes a mild irritation but with enough sunblock they can walk in daylight. They just prefer night time better, something to do with unsuspecting victims walking the streets at the dead of night.
I don't know why I was expecting to see a dark eye vampire among them. He probably went to stake out some places for a meal.
I shook my head, it's not my business to be concerned about his whereabouts. I need to focus and stay on the task at hand.
I push through the library doors, only a few students were in the library which meant I wouldn't be disturbed. I walked over to the mythical section to see if I could find any books that talked about seers.
I grab about a handful that I could find that mentions them and took my place at the far back of the library by the window. It was perfectly isolated, you couldn't see anyone and no one could see you.
Three books in and I couldn't find anything that tells you how to control visions, and my eyes were starting to feel tired and I was beginning to feel hungry. I should have eaten first.
"Anita," I hear a voice say my name in greeting and I have to stop myself from flinching when I see who it was. "Sorry, didn't mean to disturb you, I didn't think I'd find anyone back here."
"Don't be, I didn't think anyone comes back here but I'll move and find another spot," I say and quickly pack up the books to leave but he stops me "No...I mean you don't have to go, there's no harm in sharing a space to study, right?"
"I guess not," I say and smile awkwardly, sitting back on the chair. Chaviv seats opposite me with his own books in hand and without saying another word starts reading.
I went and did the same but it seemed I was unable to focus and found my eyes shifting to him. I'm not sure if its my sense of smell or that we are in a close space but the cinnamon scent smelled stronger, and today he was wearing sweatpants and a tank top showing off indents of his well defined chest.
My eyes travel to his well toned arms, and I found myself imaging being held by them and his chest would feel under my fingers. I snapped back to my reading before my mind could go anywhere further, I had to remind myself that he is a vampire.
I adjust myself on the seat and will myself to focus and to completely ignore him which makes it hard when I can smell his cologne.
Is it just me or is it getting hot in here, it felt like someone turned on the heater. I start fanning my face and I guess he must have notice this cause I see him getting up and slightly opening the window to allow the cool night air in, I give him a sheepish smile, "Thanks."
"You're welcome," he says back with a smile than sits back down and goes back to reading.
I close my eyes as I feel the cool air brush against my skin. I focus my attention on the gentle breeze and the sounds of the crickets chirping, pushing all thoughts of him out and went back to reading.
I close the final book with a disappointed sigh and place it back onto the table. I rub my tired eyes. I'm beginning to feel the frustration Rodney felt when he was looking for answers on Seers. I knew Fae's liked to brag but I had no idea how much they liked to brag, they are high up there with vampires on bragging rights.
I let out a fustrating sigh and leaned back on the chair. I close my eyes to allow them to rest, "You look like how I feel."
My eyes fly open and I look to see that Chaviv was still sitting across me, closing the book he was reading, well the last book and placing it on the pile on his right.
"You're still here?" The words come out before I could stop them and I quickly corrected myself "What I meant to say is, I didn't think you were still around."
"I know what you mean, you forget there are people around when you're reading" he says and I nod "Exactly, my brother always says that I wouldn't even know a hurricane came by until I look up," I say and he chuckles "My mother says the same thing."
We both share a laugh and than fall silent. I look over to his books "So, what were you researching?" And why am I making conversation? He picks up the top book and faces it towards me so I could read the title, "Mythical Beasts?" I read out, he turns it over and looks at it, tracing his thumb over the gold lettering "Are you studying to be a zoologist?" I question and he chuckles and shakes his head.
"Not really, you can call it a personal project," he says vaguely, "What about you?" he asks indicating to my own pile of books "Same as you," I say and he nods in understanding and doesn't push further.
"It looks pretty late and I'm sure you must have needs to be met," I say getting ready to leave, he looks at me quizzically, "Needs?"
"Yeah, you know," I bring my fingers up to my mouth to form fangs and his eyebrows shot up in realisation, his laugh echoes through the library.
I sit there awkwardly as he laughs and I hope that the librarian doesn't come and kick us out. He finally calms down and wipes a few tear streaks away "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to laugh," he says in between breathes "What made you think I'm a vampire?" he asks and I could feel my cheeks heat up.
I cover my face in embarrassment as I tell him "You're aura." I wanted nothing more than the ground to open up and swallow me whole. He lets out another chuckle "Don't be embarrassed, you're one of the fifth people who have told me that but don't let the vampires hear you say that," he winks.
I let out a nervous chuckle, I know he is trying to make me feel better by telling me this and it does make me feel just a little less embarrassed.
"Funny enough, my mother told me that people were going to think I'm a vampire cause of my intimidating aura just like my father," he continues "But I'm an Elemental, see." I look up to see him position his thumb and index finger together, leaving an empty space in between them were sparks flashed, "Lightning," he explains and I oh'd.
"Can we forget that I said anything?" I beg him and he smiles sweetly "Sure, on one condition."
"Condition?"
He nods and seats back into his seat "We get to hang out."
