The Demon King's First General

Read at least six chapters, then prepare to crave the rest. The main character will show up in Chapter Five, though I don't recommend skipping the first four chapters. ----- The world was celebrating. The Demon King was dead, along with his Darkness Generals. Humans led the other races to war for subjugation. They killed all, and none were spared. However, thousands of years before this happened, a piece of history was altered by time itself.  In fact, the Demon King didn't have four generals but only one, which he sealed and sent into eternal slumber. Just as he started to close his eyes, the chains locked away for eternity shattered into pieces.

Silence

"What is he doing here? And how come?" Cinn murmured.

Questions about the demon were piling up inside her head. His existence became a mystery for her, and she needed to unravel the answers.

"Should we go back now, Mistress?" Aichelle asked, and her eyes were filled with worry.

She was ready to create a portal leading to their home. She was just waiting for Cinn's order. However, her mistress' command left her hanging by a thread.

"No, I will confront him now. Let's go up," Cinn replied while staring into her maid's eyes.

"But it's dangerous out there if you really want to. Let's get Lux first," Aichelle suggested.

Then she waved her hand, but Cinn grabbed it and shook her head.

"I can handle this," Cinn assured before smiling, and her eyes glowed crimson-red.

Aichelle let out a deep sigh. She wanted to protest more, but upon seeing the seriousness on her mistress' face, she let her thoughts go away, then opened a portal that would send them back to the surface.

The two of them walked through it, and a large blue creature attacked them as soon as they stepped out on the ground.

Cinn blocked the trident with a sonic wave, which caused an ear-piercing sound; however, the creature's attack didn't end there. He aimed a punch at Cinn's face, but she managed to dodge the big fist with her speed.

'Why is he attacking us?' Cinn thought.

Then she noticed the black-haired man standing not far from their positions. He was smiling while staring at them. Even though the color of Zeno's hair and eyes changed, his carefree posture and smug-looking expression were enough for Cinn to identify him.

She dashed and leaped into the air before moving her hand to produce a sonic blade, aiming for the man's head.

"Behind you, Mistress!" Aichelle shouted upon seeing a trident made of water fly to Cinn's back. She immediately opened a portal to intercept the trident and sent it to where Zeno was.

Now, with a sonic blade whistling at his front and a water trident coming from his back, Zeno stood still and had no intention to move away.

Then, as fast as lightning, the lizardman dashed in front of Zeno and blocked the sonic blade with his arms while dispelling his own trident before it struck the demon's back.

Afterward, Cinn asked with curiosity. "Why is a lizardman protecting that demon? I have nothing against you; let me have a talk with him."

"I'm sorry, but I need to defeat you here for me to live; otherwise..." The lizardman replied, then took a glance at Zeno.

"So, dance along with me," he added, and another trident appeared on his hand.

The next second, he charged at Cinn, who was up in the air. He used his tail to flick himself upward. Aichelle prepared herself to cast another set of portals to protect Cinn from the giant lizard.

However, black lightning stormed out above her, making her yell in pain before rendering her unconscious. She didn't die from the attack, but it was enough to injure and burn her skin.

Cinn looked back as she heard Aichelle's agony, and her fangs grew longer due to anger, but then the lizardman pierced her with his trident on the back and gave her a kick enough to pummel her below ground.

'Still a greenhorn,' Zeno thought upon seeing how Cinn responded to the situation.

His hair and eyes were now back to their silvery, null-looking colors. The remaining dot beneath his right eye also disappeared as soon as he cast the black lightning that injured Aichelle.

Cinn stood up; the wound on his abdomen was already healed. Then she looked at Zeno with contempt.

"How dare you harm her?" She shouted, and dozens of flaming orbs appeared on her back; each of them was sent in Zeno's direction in a matter of seconds.

However, like what happened before, the lizardman blocked the attack with his body, protecting the demon from any harm.

Zeno was surprised to the point that his eyes widened upon seeing the color of Cinn's flame, and he started to doubt himself.

'Did I see it wrong? No, I'm a hundred percent sure; she's Cinhard's daughter,' he thought.

"Then there's only one reason for that," he uttered before smiling once again.

Cinn dashed to where her maid was and checked her status. She felt somewhat glad after she saw that her injuries had almost already healed.

But she still gazed at Zeno, and the next moment, the surrounding area was enveloped with a transparent force field, and the sound vanished within.

'What a boring Legacy compared to her father,' Zeno commented inside his mind.

The silence caused confusion for the lizardman; it made him uneasy. Then he looked back at Zeno and asked what was happening. However, he felt surprised upon hearing no sound coming from him. He shouted, but still, he heard nothing.

Then he focused his eyes on the white-haired vampire in front of him. He realized in an instant that it was all her doing.

'Those crimson-red eyes and attacks related to sound—is she related to the Crimson Eyed Melody?' The lizardman thought.

After that, he felt something cut his skin. It was sharp enough to pass through his sturdy scales. He looked at it but found nothing. Then he received another cut, this time on his right shoulder.

'Is it wind?' It can't be, what is it?' He thought, then, unable to find the answer, he charged at the woman in front of him.

However, several seconds later, he was filled with blood dripping from him. In every step he made, a cut appeared on his body, and the moment he reached Cinn's position, he was entirely covered with wounds.

But the vampire just stared at him and smiled, which made him burst into anger. He raised his trident to strike the woman.

"Don't give me that look! Die!" He shouted, but still, he didn't hear his voice.

Then, something impaired him in the neck and chest. He touched it and felt a hole in his skin. Afterward, his eyes started to dim, and he fell to the ground, lifeless.

. . . . .

"Zephryx I did it! My Legacy, I awakened my Legacy!" Shouted a child as soon as she entered the training grounds, where hundreds of demon soldiers were having a practice battle.

A demon whose eyes were blindfolded came at her; he smiled before answering.

"I congratulate the young lady, though I recommend you not to say how it works to anyone, myself included," Zephryx replied while trying to suppress his curiosity.

The child put her hands on her waist and closed her eyes while smiling. She was proud of her accomplishment. To be able to activate her Legacy at such a young age was indeed exemplary.

"Don't worry, I won't tell anybody about it, even Father and Mother!" She declared,

Zephryx let out a short laugh upon hearing her words. After all, he knew how the young child wanted to attract the attention of her father, and maybe this would bring good news to him.

"I think it will be great if you tell your father about it, even your mother. There's no harm in telling them," he explained the situation to his young lady.

But the child shook her head as soon as she heard the demon's suggestion.

"I want to show it during a fight; that would be awesome, instead of explaining it to them," she answered.

"Then let me prepare it for you," Zephryx said before snapping his fingers.

The demons fighting on the training grounds stopped all of their activities and left without saying a word. Then he put his finger on the temple of his head.

'Sorry for disturbing you, my Lord,' he thought.

After a few seconds, he heard a voice inside his head. "Zephryx, what is it?"

'I would like to invite you and the queen to the training ground now; the princess wants to show you something,' he answered.

"Hmnn, make sure it's worth my time," the voice replied, and the connection got off as the other side cut off his telepathy.

"They will be here soon; who do you want to fight? Spar with me, or should I take out a beast? You choose," Zephryx said, asking.

The young child thought for a moment before answering.

"I'll go with the beast; I don't want to hurt you after all," she chuckled.

The demon was really curious now, upon seeing the child's smile. He was thinking about the kind of Legacy she awakened—for her to have this overwhelming confidence.

Then he went inside a prison cell to get a beast held in captivity. He returned with a creature walking by his side. Its fur was azure in color with small white spots all over its body. It had long, curved canine fangs that protruded from its mouth. It was a gale jaguar that was popular for its nimble movements.

After a few moments of waiting, the Demon King and his wife came, as Zephryx had asked.

"Let's get it started," Cinhard said as soon as he saw his daughter and Zephryx with the jaguar inside the training area. He understood what his child wanted them to see.

"Zephryx! Come here and don't control the beast; let it fight on its own," he added.

"Understood," the demon replied, and he looked at the young child.

Then he went into the place where the king was after seeing the child nod at him. And like Cinhard instructed, he released the creature from his manipulation.

The jaguar leaped at the being in front of it with its mouth wide open as soon as it was freed from Zephryx's control.

The child concentrated and didn't move from where she stood. Then silence filled the entire area. Anelia couldn't help but smile as she noticed the fluctuations around the place.

'A domain,' she thought.

Even Zephryx grinned, then glanced at his king, but he felt dismayed upon seeing him show no excitement at all.

However, what happened next made Anelia leap in front and kill the jaguar with her own hands.

"Is that it?" Cinhard asked, disappointed.

Zephryx couldn't find the words to answer. Her young lady just stood there and didn't evade the beast's claws and fangs.

The next moment, she got bitten, and the fluctuations around the place vanished. Her cries echoed, and that was when her mother came to rescue her.

"Why? My Legacy didn't work," the child uttered it while lying down on the ground stained with her blood.

Then she glanced to where his father was standing a few minutes before, but she couldn't see his figure or even his shadow.

'He already left,' she thought, and tears began to drip from her eyes.
