Chapter 46: Pendilor, Was it again?
....
3rd Person's P.O.V
As Stella finally made her way to Pendilor. She would just do anything to kill her sister. She wanted to kill her everyone--but she needed to find her sister first.
As her car headed to Pendilor, she was just chilling as if what she was about to do was nothing big.
Phoebe was staring blankly with clear eyes on the car's carpet, Carter on the other hand doesn't like the idea of Stella killing and bombing the countries.
He doesn't want to be a part of this, but he can't bring himself to betray her. He was her favorite and he was also afraid to be killed by her. The silence was deafening and Carter kept shifting his position on his seat, while stroking Phoebe's hair.
"Thereia, are you alright?" He asked his sister.
Phoebe acted like she didn't hear a word, in fact for her. She doesn't. It felt like her mind went away from her body and she was trapped in an endless void of darkness.
She was thinking negatively, she was afraid that without her ability the other peculiars wouldn't want to do anything with her anymore. She was afraid they'll abandon her. In fact, what use could she do now? Being a buden? She doesn't want that. She didn't even wanted that.
Carter stared at Phoebe worriedly, he didn't wanted her to feel that way. Even though he was scarred himself, he didn't show it. He had to be strong. He knew that.
Why on the highway, Stella kept thinking of things she would do if she had killed her sister. Should she celebrate? Of course she should. But after everything, she wanted the proof that her sister is dead. That nobody will be in the way for Talliarde and her.
After she is dead, she wanted the proof she is dead. She would want to drink her blood. She would want to taste of her own victory and her sister's downfall.
She couldn't help but laugh maniacally which startled the driver and ofcourse---Carter as well.
From outside, Meadow and Sky was clearly following her car. Using Sky's Agility and Intangibility, it looks like they were invisible to Animalia's Eyes.
Before the bombing, Sky sensed something wasn't right. So she woke up immediately and before they could even change their clothes and fill their stomach with food, she woke Meadow up and they got them out of the building real fast.
Clearly, her instinct was right as the building before them blew up in pieces. They knew they were going to help but the others but saw Stella's Car pass by them and Sky, like the Spy she is. Followed the car while holding Meadow's hands.
The car has been running for a two days and a half and Sky was clearly Exhausted but couldn't bring herself to stop as she continued following.
It has been like two days when they almost found peace. But then again, Stella ruined the whole thing.
"I can't hold on any longer. I think I'm going to collapse." Sky said.
Meadow eyed her worriedly, as Sky began taking deep breaths.
"We should take a rest then."
"No! Hindi natin sila pwedeng iwan, baka ano pa man ang gagawin niya!" She protested.
Meadow was quite taken aback but she didn't say anything.
Not until Sky started coughing up some blood. Her innards was boiling, but nonetheless she continued using her ability as her mind was already getting dizzy. Her vision was becoming unstable.
Meadow noticed her gestured and tried to use up all her force in her feet to stop, Sky in their tracks.
Her feet was rubbing against the cement and by the fast velocity they are running, she could feel her feet burning. A deep wound is sliced in the flesh of both her feet.
It's heavily oozing out blood and there's a bluish-purple bruise forming around it. Colorful spots contour the sides of her eyes and she had to bite her lip from the pain of it all.
The stinging sensation almost made her hiss as she was awfully doing a bad job at stopping Sky.
The road was sharp enough to cut flesh as if it posed no resistance. At once a fountain of red came from her feet, the ebb and flow in time with a terrified heart. She was shuddering but continued to played the part where she's leaped drastically while pulling Sky's body out of the road with force.
After twisting her body, Sky's Pace began to slow down as the car that they were following began becoming distant in their eyes. Their body crashed in the sand as there was some pointy twigs around them and clearly, inches of cactus would be peirced in their skin if their fall was too distant.
They were stopped in their pace in the morning hot weather in the middle of the desert.
The sand was clearly itchy as it came in contact in their skin as their bodies fell in between them.
Sky quickly sat up as her eyes was trailing in the car, she was about to stand up and activate her ability again when Meadow pulled her by the arms as she clearly lost her balance again.
"What are you doing?!" She angrily shouted but her protest stopped when her stomach feels like it was flipping inside out and was going through a shredder.
The nausea clawed at her throat, and she tried to force down the bile, but it was too late. Blood spewed out of her coughing, choking mouth. Her stomach kept on contracting violently and forcing everything up and out. Her face was white and dripping bile, sweat, and tears. She lurched forward and sunk to her knees. The pungent stench invaded her nostrils and she heaved even though there was nothing left to go.
"Are you okay?!" Meadow asked as she quickly came to pat her back lightly.
She was kneeling, in fact Meadow was afraid that her busted flesh will come in contact with the sand.
"I'm....not...." Skt answered between coughs.
Meadow didn't know what to do, her eyes was looking away. She doesn't have anything to offer, she doesn't have any water.
She was sure that Sky probably doesn't have the energy to get them out there. They were in the middle of the desert for Emperia's sake.
Meadow's eyes wander in the whole desert, nothing but huge rocks and cactus were in there. And the light of the sun gave her a whole new idea.
"Sky?"
"Hm?"
"See that over there?" Meadow then pointed at a certain cactus.
"What about that?"
Meadow didn't say anything, instead she pulled Sky in her feet as she supported the both if them to walk over the cactus.
The sand was coming contact with her barefoot as it was busted and the blood oozing out was none other than hers. But still, even they were both limping. They made it in front of the cactus.
The cactus was shading both of them from the heat. They were of course, tired. They have been running for a day and a half so they really ain't having it.
Meadow slowly reached Sky's hands as she breathed slowly and steadily. Her mind was blank, and her body was shivering. Nonetheless, she closed her eyes. Of course after a few minutes, they saw a different view.
It was no longer sunny, the heat was gone.
As rain hit their skin like it would go right through and the water washed the street like a river would rise. Beneath the sound of the city traffic, Meadow couldn't hear her own footfalls.
She was so completely wet and numb that did she didn't feel the splashing of the vehicles or the wind that blew so hard that the litter swirled into the air like the poor relations of autumn leaves. The streets passed in a frigid blur, they weren't sure where they're headed.
Only blankness was running in both animalia's minds as they were trying to figure out where they were and what they're supposed to do.
By the time they got to some house, it feels like night had fallen and enveloped the city in a blanket of darkness—but it has only been a few minutes in noontime. Both scurried down the path towards a house, their feet slapping against the stone steps that led to the front door.
Fallen wet leaves littered the walkway, bathing it in dark red and orange, and she stepped on them with a satisfying crunch. The porch light was on, and the familiar yellow glow made the house feel warm and inviting. A brand new flower pot to the right of the door was filled with pink and yellow chrysanthemums.
The metal of the doorknob was cool against her palm and she twisted it with ease, entering the well-lit living room.
The familiar place made them feel at ease as they began looking for others inside the house.
Sadly, they found no one which led the both scurrying in the living room and Sky plopped into the Sofa. She felt like she was going to collapse as her back hit the soothing fabric.
Meadow was also preoccupied while sitting on the marble floor as she began treating herself with the first aid kit that was installed in the cupboard in the bathroom.
"I guess, wala na dito sila Bluve." Sky said calmly as her eyes was fixated on the ceiling.
"I know, they're probably off to—I don't know. Save Emperia?" Meadow replied.
Sky's eyes drifted on her, "I mean, that isn't something new. We were kidnapped so, it's probably best if they—you know. Move around."
"But aren't we going to be put in jail for breaking in here? I know, Bluve is our friend but that doesn't mean we are supposed to break in his villa." Meadow started working on tightening up the bandages.
"Well no, it's probably because we have the same goal and he's too busy right now. Who knows maybe they're off fighting dark mages right now."
After hearing those, The rain started to pour loudly. The sound was clearly calming, for anyone who was there—they may probably think that it was clearly night and not 12 in the afternoon.
A minute has passed when Sky was fed up from laying down and began moving herself, she started to wander in the guestroom Bluve gave him.
Not knowing quite what to expect from the room she hadn't seen in months. Maybe Bluve had imposed some personality on the bedroom before she went missing.
Stepping across the threshold she felt the walls close in on her. It was a chintz nightmare of stripes and polka dots— purple and black everywhere. She didn't remember her sense of style in color are just horrendous.
On the beside table sat a bag and a crop top that could have just leapt out of the nineteen forties. The air still carried the scent of glue from new carpet and wallpaper.
Her finger traced beside the table as when her fingertips touched her unused top, she felt the familiarity of it.
She then shifted her attention on the closet, she remembered how she once stuffed her clothes in here.
She opened it and saw clothes she thought she'd never see again, there was an old white Threadbare, frayed at the cuffs, too short in the arms and legs, a couple of sizes too big T shirts, other many odd assortment of clothes, all of it old and none of it matching, battered looking but when you stare at it, it becomes a little stylish.
Sky's hands trickle down to one of the loose clothes on her closet, a dark green oversized shirt. She remembered how after finishing the laundry, Chloe distributed clothes to their owners and Chloe gave her this—Sky doesn't have the guts to give it back. She thought that it was Bluve's. She wouldn't dare to give this back to her crush but, since she found out that this belongs to Hushy, She's been looking for a way to return it—sadly she doesn't have the chance to so it has been stuck there eversince.
She took ahold of the gown she was wearing, it wasn't that appealing. They didn't have the chance to change their dress yesterday since they all collapsed in the bed to have a nice comfy sleep.
She pulled the gown from her body as the sticky feeling lessen and the cold air touched her pale complexion, she was afraid that if she wore the clothes again, it may make her feel trapped and chained in the cell again.
She disliked how it felt, she then grabbed Hushy's oversized shirt and slipped into it.
She like the feeling, the cotton fabric. The smell of familiarity, she loved all of it—it made her calm.
She turned around and glanced into the room's wall-length mirror, something she hadn't done in a very long time—3 months. She started at her feet, averting her eyes from her own face. Her feet were now bony and thin, like the rest of her body. She let her gaze rise up and she took in her whole body, wincing at the emaciated figure that stared back at her. What had she become? She felt like a hollow shell of her once plump and vibrant self. She had always imagined herself as too big and too plump, even when others told her she wasn't.
Afraid of her own reflection, she turned away from the mirror and headed to the window. And saw the same view she'd wake up to every morning.
The rain poured down incessantly, filling the air with a full body-chill and a crisp. The peace made her feel like the world wasn't actually against her.
Enjoying the feeling, she headed downstairs. On the window in front of the stairs, there you can clearly see the aesthetic of the raining mood outside.
Sky then proceeded to go downstairs as she was excited at the view outside.
After reaching downstairs, she debated herself wether she'd take a look in the front or back door. Eventually, she headed her way to the back door.
As opening it, the smell of the rain lingered in her nose as she admired the scent, she sat crossing both her legs.
Sitting outside the back door, it wasn't like the front. Back here was refreshing since there was trees everywhere. She remembered the time where She would play tag with Sergio, as if bullying him. She'd rush over this place and hide.
While remembering those memories from not so long ago, she couldn't help but form a smile of her lips as she was watching the droplets of water chasing down one another.
