Falling twice

Cathy's eyes widened upon seeing who it was. "You are...…"

"I know I'm handsome"Ronald completed her words for her, a smirk coming to play on his lips as he now straightened her to stand on her feet, releasing her from his grip to have Cathy step far away from him.

"What are you doing here"Cathy said gritting her teeth as she wondered what the last person she wanted to see was here right now and she feared what he had come to do as she continued to take steps away from him. "Have we met before?"Ronald asked, seeing the way she looked at him with so much familiarity, his eyebrows which were now raised up as he watched the girl step away from him.

Cathy's eyebrows furrowed wondering what he meant by that question but then again this was Ronald! His actions and words shouldn't surprise her anymore.he loved teasing and taunting people for his own amusements.

She decided to play his little game as she shook her head in disapproval."I don't think we have I should leave now"Cathy gave off a sheepish smile wanting to scurry away as she hoped he won't stop her.she turned wanting to leave but his cold voice was quick to stop her on her tracks.

"Where do you think you are going?"his voice was commanding, making Cathy gulp.she really had bad luck today for crossing paths with this demon. "Turn"he ordered to have Cathy slowly turn to meet his eyes.

"You said something earlier have we met each other before?"Cathy heard him ask her again making her frown.she closely watched him and noticed he didn't look as one who was joking which made her eyebrows raise.had he hit his head on the wall or something? what was with the question.

But then she thought,if he had really forgotten who she was wasn't it an advantage to her? Cathy cleared her throat as she put on a perplexed look."I don't know what you are talking about sire.am running late I should be going"Cathy said hoping heaven was finally on her side and decided to erase his memories of her.how convenient! Cathy thought not bothering herself to ask how that had happened in the first place.

"Don't play with me little kitten answer me"Ronald was having none of it.he heard the way her heart raced against her chest to make him sure she definitely knew something he did not.

Cathy sighed as she slowly nodded with a pout."you are right,we did meet,in the palace ball but I spilled my drink on you and you got angry"Cathy said saying it with all seriousness as she looked as if she were really apologetic about what had happened some nights ago in which never took place.

Ronald narrowed his eyes a smile coming to play on his lips. "That's not right,why would I get angry at a lady this pretty lest alone forget her"His smile was seductive but Cathy knew better than to fall for the tricks of this man.

But…..did he really not remember who she was? Cathy wanted to know how that had even happened but she decided to leave it at that.she offered him a polite and warm smile as she turned to leave.her feets were quick as she wanted to get away from him as quickly as she could but she noticed the man now walking beside her.his hands were in his pockets as he felt so comfortable.

Cathy gritted her teeth as she stopped to have him stop too. "Stop following me"Cathy told him but she saw him chuckle instead as he licked his tongue.

"For some reason I feel like I knew you before you know….. intimately"Ronald remarked and Cathy's ears burned due to his cheesy words and she saw him lean towards her.

His hands went ahead to grab her waist and Cathy could feel people's eyes already on them making her gulp slightly. His other hand went ahead to tuck her hair behind her hair while Cathy shivered at his cold touch. What was he doing in front of so many people?

"Are you sure I was the one you met that day? Cause am sure If I was the one I wouldn't have let you go"Roland's breathe passed through her face to have her hold her breathe as she now felt him let go of her waist for her to quickly shift away from him as she could breathe properly now.

"What are you doing here Cathy,have been looking all over for you"Marie came in view now standing beside Cathy as she now turned to look at the man she had caught her friend talking to, to have her leg stiffen.

"Cathy isn't he...…."Marie was about to say when Cathy had grabbed her arm as she ran away with her.far from the eyes of this man.After making sure they were now far from him,Cathy finally slowed down as her breathing now hastened her heart thudding against her chest.

"What were you two doing together?"Marie finally asked the question that had been running through her mind since they had started running. "He just showed up out of nowhere"Cathy frowned while fixing her skirt that was folding itself together.

Cathy gritted her teeth in annoyance.why did she always have bad luck when it came to that man! She just wanted him out of her life but it didn't seem like he was going anywhere. 

Marie's jaw dropped not knowing what to say again.this was the king for goodness sake. "I did read a few books where the king married a commoner but I was a 

thousand percent sure that didn't happen in the normal world but…..now I think I am having second thoughts about that"Marie blinked at her own words finding it to be somehow silly.

"That's just ridiculous! Nothing like that is happening and a book always stays a book"Cathy laughed it off.it was just babarical to think such thing would ever happen in the real world.he was just using her for his amusements and when he was done with her he would drop her,like a dried leaf but she wouldn't give him what he wanted and by any means,she would stay far away from him as possible.he could look for any other person for his amusements for all she cared.

That man did whatever he wanted and with the way she had seen him today she feared he might come for her again.she needed to figure out a way in which he wouldn't be able to reach her lest alone try to openly kidnap her but how would she do that? She knew her siblings would push her right into the lion's den if they found an opportunity to. After all, they were against the fact that she rejected the so-called feelings of the king.

Her feets came to a quick halt when a thought passed through her mind as she turned to Marie who had also stopped walking seeing as Cathy had stopped,she saw her face beaming up with a smile.

"I've found a way"Cathy blurted out to have Marie's eyebrows furrow. "For...?"Marie asked, not knowing what way Cathy had found this time.

"If he doesn't find me he will stop searching"Cathy said while Marie just looked with a confused expression wondering what she was talking about. "But you will have to help me out"she continued and Marie had to stop her from speaking further.

"What are you talking about?" Marie asked as she didn't have a clue what she was saying. "Am talking about the king Marie…..I was thinking I should go far far away for a while where he wouldn't be able to find me"Cathy said to have Marie squint her eyes at her best friend. Has she gone crazy? But this shouldn't surprise her,she had always been crazy.

"What do you mean go far far aw...…"Marie was about to ask if she had lost it as she felt her thinking was far fetched.  "But...that is just to trick them. I am not really going far away but I still won't be in this village"Cathy explained before marie could finish asking her question as she continued, "no one should know where I really am not even my parents because I know if the king should come back here for me,they will tell him where I am without thinking twice but if they don't....."

"They will have no right answer and if he decides to search for you it will all be in vain"Marie completed her words for her as she now understood what the girl was trying to do. "But then,you can't just leave home without informing them of your whereabouts,you have to tell them where you would be,"Marie frowned, wondering what excuse she would have to make up.

"Leave that to me they are really not that complicated"Cathy said but Marie still wasn't at ease. "If you aren't going to stay at home where would you be then"

"Aunt Isabelle's house. there is no way he would be able to find me there but you have to make it seem like i'm not really around. I hope you can do that once that is done everything will fall in line and in a matter of some weeks I should be able to return"Cathy said while Marie nodded in approval. She would do anything to help.

She didn't know the true intentions of the man and she didn't want her friend to be hurt. Sometimes people of the high society tend to abuse their power and act repulsively.they did anything they wanted because they knew they could do it and this wasn't just anyone of the high society,he was the king! and could get away with anything. It was just how society worked.

"It would be better if he is out of all our lives for good,"Cathy said, believing that if he didn't find her he would give up on her and hopefully forget that they even met.

Although, she  still wondered how he couldn't remember her,she didn't trust the man completely.he could be lying for whichever reason she didn't care about.it was just best if she carried on with her plan.
