THE ASSASSIN AND THE PRISONER

"So... how does one such as you, end up in a place like this?" Caius intended to make small talk as they walked in the dark corridor,

"It's all part of the plan," Cyer smirked.

"Whose plan, I wonder," Caius remarked reading the futility of the statement.

"Indeed."

"Still, who exactly are you" Caius persisted.

"Now now, general, there are things you are better off not knowing," Cyer dismissed him.

"I know more than you think I do, child" Caius's answer was guarded.

"Oh, let's trade then." Cyer took the bait.

"Sure..." Caius treaded carefully.

"My real name is Cyril Estr-hime, it won't do you much good, seeing as all who knew that name are dead," Cyer started.

"I am Caius Maximums Roy. I was named such by my grandfather," Caius answered as they turned a corner, it was a cavern more than a dungeon now.

"I already knew that, general," Cyer spoke softly as he paused, brandishing a sharp rock in his hand.

"I was adopted by the King of Neraya, who had killed my father and orphaned me in the first place," Caius added to sedate the assassin.

"Oh, and why did he kill your father?" Cyer said as he let out a breath seeing the cause of his worries, a snake.

"Your turn." Caius spoke softly, easily clutching yet another snake that struck at him, crushing it without a second thought.

"Hmmm," Cyer began thinking. "As an assassin it's in my profession to lie, we invent a new life story every time, that said, I was born and raised in the Dark Continent."

"The dark continent?" Caius replied, he knew not much of it. "What is the dark continent anyway?"

"You first, general," this time Cyer edged him on,

They had approached yet another corner, indicating the presences of two guards, Cyer in a swift soundless motion, jumped, holding onto the corner with his hand, turning using it as a lever, he landed on an unsuspecting guard. Immediately striking with the rock on his neck, killing him. Caius who had ran up to another, who had barely turned around, held his face in his palm, Caius flung him to the floor, crushing the man's skull.

They wielded the guard's weapons now.

"My father was a rebel who had caused the death of many, he sought to take back the kingdom from the Dragons," Caius answered in an emotionless manner.

"Oh, and you feel resentment and such?" Cyer presumed.

"No. He was a horrible man and had to die," Caius answered, "Now that I see, I am pretty horrible myself,"

"Curious indeed." Cyer continued. "Why did you have the King killed, even after he accepted you?"

"The dark continent," Caius reminded.

"Oh yes, the Dark Continent is a land beyond a veil of sorts, lawless lands, there is no order there, save power. It is said the order of the Assassins took its roots there," Caius noted calmly, thinking about the character called Lear.

"The king was weak, I thought I could rule better, it was simple envy too I guess," Caius answered.

"Do you still feel the same way?" Cyer asked as they approached a door that apparently housed their effects.

"I do not know," The answer ringed with truth.

Quickly donning his garb, Cyer confirmed all his tools and weapons, Caius put on the soldier's armor he had worn in Sher's army as they exited.

A few paces down, Cyer in a single motion, without the slightest hesitation or indication, stabbed Caius, his blade over his heart. Caius taken by surprise, wide eyed, fell to his knees. The assassin retracted his blade, before he tried to double ensure his kill, as his fist made his way towards the general's skull, the man with sheer determination held his hand with both, applying a crushing strength. Caught, Cyer tried to break free as the general coughed blood.

*BOOOM*

boulders being hurled at the keep echoed as they hit, the sounds of bells going off, and footsteps massive in numbers,

Making his decision Cyer kicked the general back and darted off, the poison injected in the heart should be enough to kill the wretched man anyway.

Caius coughed blood, his vision fading.
