Chapter 20: Defenses
Chris POV:
Cold would be an inaccurate way to describe Asa and his relationship.
It would be an understatement to call them frigid. They drifted past each other like ships in the night, barely sparing a word. Chris didn’t understand what changed. He and Asa got along well one day, and the next Asa was screaming about how Chris didn’t know him.
Chris knew Asa.
He knew more about him than he let on. He spent weeks studying the younger male, seeing the little things about him. Asa liked more milk in his coffee than coffee. He hated pencil shavings. Asa was prone to ear infections and always got them when the weather turned cold. Asa liked to bask in the sun, and he slept with his hands folded underneath his ears because of the ear infections. Asa believed in the mating run and had great faith in the Moon Goddess. Asa hated that Jacob ruined his mating run and felt guilty about it.
He knew so much about Asa, but that didn’t matter to Asa.
