Easy Money

The Witch Goddess is coming for her!

Era chewed on her lower lip, lifting her drink to her mouth only to realize that it was already empty. She emptied it out a while ago when she saw the Witch Goddess locked her eyes on her.

She glanced at Ridge and he was unaware that she was on the brink of falling apart. She was like a rabbit that was caught by a predator, wanting to escape but also knew that it was too late.

"Hi," she said with a tight smile when the Witch Goddess approached her and gave her a glance from head to foot.

"I'm Mira."

Era extended her hand towards the girl who crooked her beautifully shaped brow at her. Not caring that she was blatantly judging her.

She kept her smile and held her breath, praying that Ridge would notice the iciness in the air from his Witch Goddess and save her.

But Ridge was too busy with whatever he was discussing with the men he was talking to who called him Woodpecker.

What a strange nickname, she thought to herself, pulling her gaze away from Ridge and returning to the Witch Goddess who was standing still and not talking in front of her.

"Do I have to ask you what you want from me for you to talk?"

Era watched the Witch Goddess smirked at her and folded her slender arms over her chest.

"Do you think so?" She asked with a hint of contempt.

Era shrugged her shoulders and copied the Witch Goddess, folded her arms over her chest after she handed her empty glass to a passing waiter.

She chuckled inwardly when the Witch Goddess's beautiful face was crumpled into an ugly frown.

The Witch Goddess is undoubtedly beautiful but her breasts were bigger and it was emphasized with the cut of her dress and the way she folded her arms over her chest.

"Why? Are you going to answer my question if I ask you?"

"If I know the answer, why not?"

"Stop friendliness. You're just another condescending biatch just because Rich takes you to this party. Well, guess what? You're not the only one and the last. Besides, he's mine!"

Era takes another quick look at Ridge who is also Rich according to the Witch Goddess and chuckles to herself.

She was thinking that although he's really rich it would sound too cocky if your name is Rich.

"Are you laughing at me?"

"N-no, uhmm, I was thinking of something funny."

She had forgotten about the girl because of Ridge being rich Rich.

"Is Rich's name really Rich or is it Richard or Richmond?" She asked with real curiosity that took the Witch Goddess by surprise, her annoyance was toned down.

The Witch Goddess is still annoyed by the way her eyebrows crooked at her but her facial expressions and body language is no longer in attack mode.

"Richmond."

"I didn't know you'd answer that."

The Witch Goddess smiled and it was her turn to be taken aback. She's really beautiful and she had the aura of being mischievous and innocent around her when she smiled. Era forgot for a moment that the Witch Goddess was mad at her.

"What name were you thinking?"

"Richmond."

The Witch Goddess arched her brow and scoffed.

"Really?"

"He didn't look like a Richard to me." She said, biting her lower lip to stop herself from adding, 'he looks rich to me,' but she stopped herself because she didn't think the Witch Goddess would approve of her humor.

"How long have you known him?"

"And why are you interrogating my date, you little brat?"

Era shuddered in surprise when she felt Ridge's lips in her right temple. His hand roped her into his side.

With Ridge's presence by her side, she was reminded of the real reason why she was here. The Witch Goddess put her in a spell where she forgot that she was working for Ridge and his purpose for bringing her here was to make the Witch Goddess away from him.

"I'm not a brat!"

Era was glued to the ground, unable to move away from Ridge's side for his fingers were putting pressure to her waist, letting her know that he didn't want her away from him.

She could feel the vibration of Ridge's cackling at the displease of the Witch Goddess's voice.

"Erika this party isn't your crowd—"

"And what is my crowd? And how did you know what my crowd is?"

Era felt the sudden stiffness in Ridge that she got curious on the real relationship of the two and not just want Ridge had told her.

Erika tilted her chin in the air, taunting Ridge to answer her but instead of giving her an answer, he pulled her closer.

"Let's get out of her. The Witch won't take an answer that isn't positively favorable for her."

Era raised her brow and stared at the Witch Goddess named Erika. Her expression softened, the taunting was gone from her face and era could swear doubt crossed her face but she wasn't so sure because Erika scoffed and shook her head gently while looking at Ridge.

"You're still in contact with my brother," she said in a voice laced with disappointment.

"Nice meeting you. Don't get too attached. Ridge has no problem dumping people around."

"Thanks. I'll see you around."

Era watched the confusion on Erika's face with her statement. She had no idea why those words came out of her mouth or maybe it was her subconscious, thinking this job is easy to earn money for the never ending line of loan sharks knocking on their door.

She felt Ridge's hands caressed the small of her back and she had to control herself from pushing him away from her.

"Bye, little brat. Stop using your brother's connection to get into places you're not supposed to be in."

"Whatever!"

"Do you have to treat her like that?" She asked when the Witch Goddess was far enough from them to hear her question.

Era twisted her neck and looked up to search for Ridge's expression but he turned away from her and in a grumpy voice said.

"Let's go."

"I'm sorry," she mumbled under her breath, conscious of how she should react with the sudden change in Ridge.

She wondered what was Erika and Ridge's interaction in the past for the two of them to bicker with Erika wanting to push her limits to be with Ridge while the other was doing everything in his power to stop her.

She wanted to know but didn't ask. It's clear that Ridge's mood was already ruined and she didn't want to get into Ridge's bad side because she needed him to book her service again now that she found out she could make easy money to sustain the needs of her family.
