Her prince and the freak.

''Calla….'' Vincent called again, his stunned eyes taking in the sight of Calla kneeling and the other students just watching without a word.

Meanwhile, no one expected their Prince Vincent who they had not seen for a while to be around in the university and also in the zoology department.

Especially Lacy who had her eyes on him from day one.

''P-Prince….'' She wanted to get his attention. Her face drained of all its colors, not expecting her prince to witness this side of her. She never wanted him to see this side of her.

''Prince…''

As though Lacy's call was a trigger, Vincent snapped out his daze. His attention was naturally driven towards the title people always preferred to address him with in the university.

However....rather than his usual kind smile that he would offer them, his eyes switched to a sharp glare, the intensity behind them startling Lacy and her two friends, who were the receivers.

His two hands by the side curled into tight fists as he marched further into the lecture theatre. Without a word to anyone, his first destination was calla still kneeling on the ground. His glaring eyes softened a bit at the mere sight of her.

''Can you stand?'' Those were his first words. His voice was soft and somewhat cautious, like he was talking to a child just learning how to take a first step.

''...'' Calla stared up at the man who she had not seen for a month. Her gaze then lowered to his hand stretched towards her. The same man who was also the reason for Lacy's mistreatment back then.

''um….'' Calla dropped her gaze back to the ground. It was really strange for him to help her in this situation when it was by no means beneficial to him in any way.

Not taking his hand, Calla pushed one of her knees, the sole of her foot touching the ground, elevating her body to a standing position. Just as she tried to hoist herself up, her body wasn't supported with only her balance alone. She missed her footing, about to touch the ground again.

''You really….'' Vincent caught her in time, her face using his chest as a means of a barrier to the ground. The masculine scent of his cologne buried her sense of smell.

'Ah….' Suddenly realizing that she almost fell, Calla rose her gaze, a bit embarrassed for showing such sight. He offered her help, but she was stubborn and now, look at herself, depending on him.

Perhaps her embarrassment was more this time around, as her cheeks betrayed her, showing her true feelings by flushing a bit. Though only the unmasked side of her face exposed her pink flushed cheeks.

Her eyes fell on his princely handsome face, her gaze meeting his blue eyes that widened for a brief moment. Soon after, they returned to normal, and he grinned down at her as if not knowing what to do with herself.

''Don't worry, Calla. I caught you.'' Vincent said, his arm going around her to grasp her other arm, seeming to cage her figure. His grip was secured, not too tight or loose, perfect for leaving her no room to escape from him.

''And you….'' His eyes moved up, instantly switching back to their previous glare with a sharp intensity. ''Don't you think you are going far? A third year in a university bullying another like a middle schooler. What an embarrassment for me to have an age mate like you.''

His words were straight to the point, piercing and very humiliating for the likes of Lacy and her two friends, especially Lacy.

''P-Prince…''

''Let's go, Calla.'' Vincent didn't bother to listen to her words. His eyes returning down on her, a signal for them to leave the room.

However….Calla did not move an inch.

''...'' After a momentary pause, she shifted her head to the side, her eyes trailing down to her text book still underneath Lacy's heels. She really wanted to get her textbook.

''...'' Not understanding the reason why she did not want to move, Vincent looked down on her, noticing the direction of her pleading gaze.

'A textbook….perhaps…it is hers…'

With that thought, Vincent suddenly smiled to himself, having a little understanding of his masked lady friend.

'..If you want something for yourself.…you should learn how to speak up, Calla.' Vincent said in his mind, removing his grasp from her figure.

Not expecting him to do that, Calla returned her gaze back to him. A question mark hovered over her head at his action.

'Well…it's not like I'm any better…' Still in thought, Vincent gave a reassuring smile before turning around and walking towards Lacy.

''P-Prince…'' Lacy called out, seeing that he was coming to her and not walking away with the masked freak. Instantly, her mind sank to her many delusions.

'Maybe he suddenly realized that I am the only for him.'

'We are meant for each other…he must have realized that...right?'

'Look at that..he is coming to me and not you, freak.'

'Everyone always come to me. My father and elder brother left that woman for me. Everyone always come for me no matter what.'

'Even if you are a child of that Anderson family…it doesn't change the fact you are an abandoned one.'

''Prince….'' Lacy grinned widely, when Vincent finally stood in her front, looking down at her without an expression.

'I am always the chosen one wherever I go….' Just as Vincent was a prince for her, she was always meant to be his princess.

''Your heels…''

''Huh? What do you mean, my prince?'' Lacy stared at him, confused by his words. Her heels? What did he want with her heels?

''You heel…take it off.'' Vincent's words made Lacy to look down. She then noticed that she had been stepping on a textbook.

''Oh my! Is this yours, my prince?'' She hastily removed her heel, pressing down on the textbook. Was this her prince's textbook? How was the freak with his one of belongings?!

Lacy did not forget to send a quick, sharp glare to Calla on the side.

''I don't see how that concerns you.'' Vincent frowned at the anxious Lacy who gave him her full attention after picking up the textbook. ''And Miss Allens, you should stop such discriminating actions.'' He gave a serious warning. ''You honestly can never tell when your actions can return in the future and stab you in the back.''

''…..Huh?'' It took a short pause for Lacy to realize the meaning behind those words. Her face was aghast yet surprised at the same time. She was lost as well. She did not expect her prince to say such words. Stab her in the back? Her actions could stab her in the back?

How?

No one had ever told her that her actions were wrong. Everyone had preferred her this way, including her father and elder brother.

'Surely he must be joking...' Lacy deluded herself with a forced smile on her lips. However, her smile froze when she saw Vincent's back on her. Her prince had already returned to another lady's side.

The freak's side.

Her prince and the freak.

What an imperfect pair.

''W-Wait….'' Before Lacy could say a word, her prince was already a step away from her reach, walking side by side with a lady that was not herself.

The same as that day when she saw his real smile for the first time.
