Chapter One

Raabiah two weeks overdue stood with discomfort and walked towards the kitchen but she stopped suddenly letting out a scream of pain water gushed down her legs soaking her skirt and forming a pool on the floor she rested back with the other hand Mama!she shouted her mother rushed to her side and quickly helped her to the bedroom where she lay quietly her face contorted into a grimace of pain

Another one! She shouted again but this time with a shrill and her mother comforted her with a hand around her neck they heard someone coming in it was perhaps Nana the Lagos based Raabiah's friend who had come visit her and so it was mama then rushed to meet Nana.

Nana,I am happy you are here Raabiah is in bed having serious contractions.

I can see that"Nana mumbled looking at the puddle on the middle of the room mama went into the kitchen and came back with a bucket and a cloth she then started mopping up while Nana left her shopping basket on the table and went to meet Raabiah in the bedroom.

Raabiy" Nana called her friend in a friendly tone "I'm sorry.How are you feeling now?"

Thank you Nana it's getting more painful replied Raabiah.

Don't worry my friend you will be alright,Okay?"

I hope so thank you where is Mama?"

She is mopping the floor,answered Nana.

Once Mama had finished clearing up the dirt she swept the floor and returned to the bedroom Nana was sitting next to Raabiah holding her hand Mama sat at the end of the bed looking into Raabiah's eyeballs with pity and concern her face was serious almost solemn Nana had never seen her friend's mother with such a look of seriousness it was as though her life had made sense at last the three of them were there helpless but hopeful!

They were however not the only creatures present there were two others though invisible who had domiciled with them for a long time and also partaken in almost all of their domestic affairs sharing their beds particularly at nights and their meals in nearly all the time of fulfilling the tummy with delicious dishes.

It's going to be difficult for her said the feminine voice of the mother invisible one the voice was loud but vacant unheard to the human hearing Raabiah her mother and her friend were completely oblivious to their presence.

No mother let's not endanger her labor responded the child invisible one on a sympathy laden voice we've after all done enough harms to human beings these few days more so Raabiah is spouse less her husband died in an auto crash and her baby shall be fatherless if Raabiah dies her baby will suffer.

No son disagreed the mother invisible one let's not pity human beings many a time they've trampled over us in a cruel manner didn't she throw her hot substance at you the other day I've waited for this moment with much endurance and now it's my own turn to take revenge so my son let's not pity her at all said the mother invisible one with the kind of voice that could send frightening shivers down a human's spine the voice came out of its bottomless shadows near the bed occupied by Raabiah her friend and her mother but they couldn't hear it.

Yes mother I agree that we shall kill her but not her baby so that if born a girl I shall dwell in her and take my pleasure there in the child invisible one had said.

She is going to have a baby boy"

No I don't know I speak with mere conjecture but you shall have it a spouse if born a girl".

Let's just work hard on her so that she may not remember to invoke her creator's might against us."

The conversation had lasted a few seconds between the two invisible ones the mother and her child who belong to notorious specie of some strange creatures ugly in shape with hoofed feet terrible look horned skulls and scary gaze the mother was incredibly short boneless and hostile while the child was nearly an opposite of its mother but with multiple horns and scary eyes like any other being of this specie they were capable of appearing in multiple forms at will without ever betraying their evil nature but here they preferred to hover in vacant air forming an aura of evil as they watched Mama and Nana mid wife Raabiah.

The day passed slowly or so it seemed to Nana it was nearly eight O'clock in the evening and Raabiah'scontractions were now very frequent instinctively she began to push and bend her knees but Mama told her to wait Nana piled up all the pillows and cushions on the apartment behind Raabiah's back she helped her move forward so that she could stand at the end of the bed and help with the delivery.

I can feel it coming Nana Raabiah groaned her upper lip moist she squeezed Nana's hand Nana I feel as if the baby is coming Please let me push she screamed and her eyes were filled with tears I'm dying Nana I can't stand it Please please Nana please let me.."

Push Raabiah push Mama said soothingly Nana moved on tiptoes behind Mama eager to see the curly hair of the baby's head was now visible the hair matted and wet slowly the head was pushed out until the baby's little face could be seen her eyes closed Nana who was witnessing this for the first time felt a lump in her throat when she saw it covered on a lard like substance and streaked with blood.

Once the head was out one shoulder soon followed then the other the two invisible ones then fixed their gaze at Raabiah and watched as the tiny hands of the baby appeared followed by the skinny torso Mama lifted the baby's head and shoulders up and Raabiah already afflicted by those things managed to see it between her raised knees it was a baby girl Nana looked at the baby's face and was gripped by the urge to cry seeing the helpless baby girl born post humously.

The little girl's face was crumpled as of in anger Mama held her upside down and sucked both it's tiny mouth and nose the baby then began to cry she further laid it on a folded towel in her bed tied the cord in two places and cut it with the pair of scissors she had sterilized earlier she then quickly knotted the cord and wrapped the baby in a toweling nappy the baby girl was crying loudly and with a pleasant smile in her wrinkled cheeks Mama presented her to her mother.

Here's your daughter she said giving the baby girl to Raabiah to suck on her breast but Raabiah wouldn't take her baby she was already strangled by those invisible ones and now gasping for breath.

Raabiah Raabiah Mama choked kneeling down by the bedside holding her daughter's hand with one hand while she carried the baby with the other even in her ignorance of the symptoms of death this cold skin of her beloved daughter confirmed her fear she then looked up at Nana in despair Raabiah is dead she said as tears of sorrow rolled down her cheeks Mama lost her only child whose husband died four months ago Nana cast a mournful look at the lifeless corpse of her only friend and she could not resist the tears of sorrow.

Son the child invisible one was called by it's least compassionate mother now that she's dead the way of our desire you shall soon take possession of the baby's life from birth and nurture it in the creed and manner of our master and under your own tutelage the baby shall grow into our fruitful adult living for our master and the world at large.

Thank you mother! Responded the child invisible one.

Yes son you shall then take custody of her soul and also take possession of her body you shall dwell in her and make her body your new habitation so that she may live her entire life for the Satan our great master the mother invisible one had said with an aura of confidence around it it looked around and saw Nana and Mama still wailing it then shifted its gaze and hissed turning to its son it continued and from here I shall leave for our master's palace to make obeisance to him whose throne is spread across the sea and from there I shall make further conquests of man on earth as far as the Hindu land Australia and the Fiji island she concluded jerking her scary gaze from her son and within a twinkle of an eye melted onto think air and arrived at her destination leaving her son behind to take possession of that pretty girl!
