Chapter 70

Gale walked in with unhurried steps as if he did not know that someone was waiting for him. Even when he saw her standing by the door, he kept his pace and she had to walk up to him. He stopped when she threw herself on him for a hug.

"Welcome back," she said, planting a kiss on his lips and quickly pulling back to have a proper look at him. He looked tired, too tired that Scarlett thought he would fall asleep the moment he touched the bed. "Have you had your dinner?" she asked.

"No," he replied curtly. He expected her to be gone by now but he was not surprised to see her here either. She was stubborn and ambitious. It goes to prove just how far she would go to get what she wants.

"I believe that there is some food in the refrigerator, I'll warm it up for you," she said, breaking the hug and taking his hand to lead him inside. He was finally here after making her wait for so long.
