Risky meeting

Risky Meeting

Ava sat in the car, staring out the window as the city passed by in a blur. She couldn't believe she was actually doing this. Meeting with the man who had killed her husband was a risk, but she had to know what he wanted. She had to find out why he had done it.

She glanced over at the man sitting next to her, a private investigator she had hired to help her track down Marcus Jones. His name was David, and he was a tall, broad-shouldered man with piercing blue eyes and a stern expression. Ava had met him through a friend of a friend, and she had been impressed by his professionalism and expertise.

"Are you sure about this, Ava?" David asked, breaking the silence.

Ava nodded. "I have to know, David. I can't just sit back and wait for the police to solve this. I need to take matters into my own hands."

David sighed. "I understand that, but meeting with him could be dangerous. We don't know what he's capable of."

"I know," Ava said, her voice firm. "But I have to take that risk."

David nodded. "Okay, but let me handle the situation. If anything goes wrong, I'll be there to protect you."

Ava smiled weakly, grateful for his reassurance. She knew she couldn't do this alone.

They arrived at the meeting place, a deserted parking lot on the outskirts of the city. Ava's heart pounded as she stepped out of the car, her eyes scanning the area for any sign of Marcus. David stood close behind her, his hand on his gun.

Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows, walking towards them. Ava's breath caught in her throat as she recognized Marcus Jones. He was a tall, muscular man with a shaved head and tattoos covering his arms.

"Hello, Ava," he said, his voice cold and emotionless.

Ava clenched her fists, trying to hide her fear. "What do you want, Marcus?"

He smirked. "I want to make a deal. I have information that I think you'll be interested in."

Ava raised an eyebrow. "What kind of information?"

Marcus glanced around, making sure they were alone. "I know who hired me to kill your husband."

Ava's eyes widened in shock. "What? Who?"

Marcus leaned in close, his breath hot on her face. "I'll tell you, but first you have to do something for me."

Ava narrowed her eyes. "What kind of deal are you talking about?"

Marcus grinned. "I want you to help me get out of the country. I need a new identity, a new passport, and a plane ticket to Mexico. If you can do that for me, I'll tell you everything you want to know."

Ava hesitated. She didn't know if she could trust him. But she knew she had to try.

"Fine," she said, her voice steady. "I'll help you. But you have to tell me everything first."

Marcus nodded. "Deal."

David stepped forward, his gun pointed at Marcus's chest. "We're not making any deals with a murderer. I'm taking him in."

Marcus laughed. "You really think you can stop me, old man?"

He moved lightning-fast, grabbing David's wrist and twisting it until the gun fell from his hand. Ava watched in horror as Marcus kicked David in the stomach, sending him flying to the ground.

"David!" she screamed.

Marcus turned to her, a feral look in his eyes. "Let's go, Ava. We don't have much time."

Ava hesitated, her eyes flickering between David on the ground and Marcus, who was now pulling her towards his car.

"Let me go!" Ava yelled, struggling against Marcus's grip.

But he was too strong, and he shoved her into the passenger seat of his car before getting behind the wheel. He peeled out of the parking lot, leaving David lying on the ground.

Ava sat in stunned silence as Marcus drove recklessly through the city streets, weaving in and out of traffic. She couldn't believe what had just happened. David was hurt, and she was now in a car with the man who had killed her husband.

"Why did you do it?" Ava finally spoke up, her voice trembling with anger and fear.

Marcus glanced at her, a sly smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "Why did I kill your husband, you mean?"

Ava nodded, her eyes fixed on the road ahead.

"It was a job, plain and simple," Marcus said with a shrug. "I was hired to take him out, and I did. No hard feelings."

Ava felt a surge of rage inside her. How could he be so callous about taking someone's life?

"You're a monster," she spat.

Marcus chuckled. "That may be, but I'm a monster who's going to get away with it. And thanks to you, I'll have a nice new life in Mexico."

Ava gritted her teeth, wishing she could rip the steering wheel out of his hands and make him pay for what he had done. But she knew that wouldn't solve anything.

Instead, she began to think. If she could get Marcus to reveal who had hired him, maybe she could finally get the justice she deserved.

"Okay, I'll help you get what you want," Ava said, trying to sound calm. "But you have to tell me everything. Who hired you? Why did they want my husband dead?"

Marcus smirked. "You'll find out soon enough. We're almost there."

Ava's heart sank as Marcus pulled into a small airport on the outskirts of town. She watched as he got out of the car and walked towards a private jet, waving for her to follow.

As they climbed aboard the plane, Ava's mind raced. She had to think of a way to stall Marcus, to buy herself more time to figure out how to get the information she needed.

"Wait," she said, putting a hand on Marcus's arm. "I need to use the restroom first."

Marcus scowled. "Hurry up, then."

Ava rushed into the bathroom, locking the door behind her. She leaned against the sink, taking deep breaths as she tried to come up with a plan.

And then she saw it. A small slip of paper sticking out of the trash can. She picked it up, her heart racing as she read the words scrawled on it.

Meet me at the old warehouse on Elm Street. Bring the money.

Ava didn't know what it meant, but it had to be a clue. She tucked the paper into her pocket and splashed water on her face before emerging from the bathroom.
