Chapter 30

Jerry couldn't concentrate in the company throughout the whole day because of the shocking event that took place.

For over two months it has been from one issue to the other and the hardest part is finding out that Daniel has been the root of the whole issue.

Daniel that was supposed to be contributing to the development of the company is the one contributing to the fall of the company.

Jerry sat silently in his office with his hand placed on his jaw as he kept reminiscing these thoughts and as time went by he started feeling headaches.

It felt as if someone was banging his head from behind and as time went by the pain kept on intensifying.

Around four PM he packed the remaining files he was working on inside his briefcase and went to Catherine's office and discussed with her for a little while before he started heading home.

It was a thirty minutes ride from the company to his house.

Once he entered inside the sitting room he saw he saw his father who was watching the BBC news on the news.

"Good evening dad" Jerry greeted his father once he came inside the sitting room.

"Good evening Jerry, how was your day?" Mr. Bernard asked Jerry.

"Very stressful dad" Jerry replied to his dad with a gloomy face.

"I understand son go and freshen up first, afterwards we will discuss the issue that took place at the company today and what to do about it" Mr. Bernard said to Jerry calmly and immediately he faked a smile.

As Jerry was about to start climbing stairs Cynthia ran down and fell on Jerry's leg and started shedding crocodile tears.

"Jerry please don't let Daniel go to jail, don't forget that he's your brother." Cynthia begged Jerry while holding Jerry's leg.

Jerry, who was astonished by her reaction, looked at his dad surprisedly but immediately his father turned his gaze towards the television as if he wasn't concerned by the issue.

"Jerry please ask them to release Daniel, I will specially talk to him, he will refund back all the money he stole from the company I promise you that." Cynthia said to Jerry while holding Jerry's leg tightly.

Jerry, who was already getting irritated by the scene she was putting on, tried retrieving his leg by force but she held his legs firmly while shedding tears.

"Jerry please I beg you in the name of God, if Daniel ever goes to jail I'm going to die, please ask them to let him go, please don't forget that he's your brother." Cynthia pleaded with Jerry while shedding tears and immediately Jerry shook his head in disbelief while smiling.

"Will you let go of his legs?" The voice of Mr. Bernard echoed from the couch where he was sitting.

"I always warned you about the way you supported Daniel even when he was wrong but you never listened. Hope you have seen the results?" Mr. Bernard asked Cynthia angrily but she kept silent.

"Freeing Daniel is not going to be easy as you think, we can drop the charges for the money that he stole from the company but that doesn't exclude the fact that he poisoned his colleague and unless the person drops the charges too he will be going to court" Jerry explained to Cynthia who immediately increased her sobbing pace.

"But you can beg the employee to drop the charges right?" Cynthia asked Jerry sorrowfully.

"Well how am I going to do that when you are still holding my legs?" Jerry asked Cynthia and immediately she freed his legs from her grip.

"Thank you Jerry thank you very much" Cynthia thanked Jerry while cleaning his eyes.

"Don't thank me yet, you should actually save the thanks for the employee if possibly he accepts to drop the charges." Jerry said to Cynthia while heading upstairs and immediately Cynthia became gloomy once again.

"The evil that men do always comes after them" Jerry said to Cynthia while heading upstairs and immediately Mr. Bernard who was watching the news busted into a round of laughter.

After taking his bath Jerry was still drying up his body with his towel when his phone started ringing.

Without hesitating he tied the towel around his waist before walking towards his bed where his phone was kept.

Once he took the phone he saw that it was Boris calling him and immediately he picked up the call before sitting down on the bed.

"Hello Bro how are you?" Jerry asked across the phone.

"I'm fine and you?" Boris asked from the other end.

"Fine too," Jerry replied.

"I came to the company but you weren't around, your girlfriend told me that you weren't feeling fine so you went back home." Boris informed Jerry across the phone.

"Yes Bro I wasn't feeling so fine but it's getting better now" Jerry informed Boris across the phone.

"Hope it didn't have anything to do with what that transpired in the company today?" Boris asked Jerry but he remained silent.

"I knew it, Bro I will advise you not to worry too much about it if not it might affect your health and I won't like that especially now that your wedding is just some weeks ahead" Boris said to Jerry who started smiling as if Boris was just right in front of him.

"Thanks for your concern Bro I really appreciate it and I'm also happy that you are back on your feet" Jerry said to Daniel across the phone.

"Can I ask you a question?" Jerry asked Boris.

"Yes of course go on I'm all ears" Boris replied Jerry from the other end.

"If you were at my place will you allow Daniel to go to jail" Jerry asked Boris across the phone and immediately Boris heaved a sigh.

"If I was at your place I would never allow that because he's my brother, we can choose our friends but we can't choose our family members. He's your brother and nothing is ever going to change that.

And I have also forgiven him for poisoning my coffee." Boris said to Jerry from the other end.

"Wow Bro I thought you were going to lay charges against him for that" Jerry said Boris.

"No Bro you know me well, I hate holding grudges against people and I hope you will do the same too." Boris said to Jerry from the other end.

"Thanks for the advice Bro I will think about it" Jerry said to Boris.

"OK Bro I have to hang up now, I'm still at the company. I'm waiting for Christine. We are going on a date this evening." Boris said to Jerry from the other end and immediately Jerry widened his eyes in surprise.

"Wow finally I thought you were planning to remain single forever" Jerry said to Boris teasingly across the phone.

With that statement Boris angrily hung up the call on Jerry's ears.

When Jerry noticed that he had hung up the call he busted into a round of laughter.

After dressing up Jerry took his phone and placed a call across the work inspector.

Once he picked it Jerry told him to inform the authorities to free Daniel that they have dropped all the charges laid against him.

After the call Jerry felt as if a heavy load was dis

charged from his shoulders and immediately he smiled at himself and started heading downstairs.
