Chapter 7....Deliveries

"God! I can't believe you are still sleeping!"

The voice came from afar and Joanna had to force her eyes open, the faint outline of Evelyn and Charlotte staring down at her on the bed. She wasn't expecting them.

"Are you guys real or am I just dreaming?" Joanna asked as she squinted her eyes to see clearly.

"Wake up!" Charlotte's voice boomed.

"What are you guys doing here?" She asked as she sat up.

Her hair a tangled mess."What time is it?"

"Eleven" Charlotte answered.

"Damn! You look a mess" Evelyn commented looking at her hair and swollen eyes disapprovingly" I am glad David is not here to see or I would be embarrassed. What the hell Anna?".

The mention of David reminded Joanna of their interaction the night before and a smile crept up her face which didn't escape Evelyn as well as Charlotte.

"Wait. You guys did it?" Charlotte asked."I bet you would".

"And I bet you wouldn't. I guess I was wrong!" Evelyn exclaimed. "It didn't happen, right, Anna?" She directed her question at Joanna.

"What did or did not happen?" Joanna pretended. She could not believe they would bet on something as embarrassing as a wedding night.

"Why are you so sure it wouldn't?" Charlotte asked Evelyn.

"Because I didn't let Michael come to me the night after our wedding" Evelyn blushed.

"Well, you are not Joanna" Charlotte shrugged. "And I know Anna is not that mad to resist such hot, manly..."

"God! You guys are crazy" Joanna interrupted their chatters.

"Come on tell us then!" Charlotte Chirped in.

"Well, sorry to disappoint you but there is nothing to tell. He was and still is an asshole" Joanna rolled her eyes." He slept in a different room" She told them. She made it sound as if he was the only one at fault.

"Well that's a shame," Said Charlotte. "When I have a hot body like that living with me, you don't wanna know".

"Whatever" Replied Joanna.

When David saw her that way, she had blushed. She didn't know why but she felt goosebumps and she didn't know what to make of that. She knew she didn't want him. Jasper was her man and the only person she was in love with, but letting David light her body with just his presence was something she could not forgive herself for. She felt terrible. She still hasn't reached out to Jasper since the wedding which was more reason why he must have thought she was in on it.

"What are you guys doing here?" Joanna eyed her sister and best friend suspiciously. They were laying out some clothes and making decisions like she wasn't there.

"Hello?" She clapped her hands.

"You need to go take a shower," Evelyn told her.

"I don't...".

"No Anna, now" Evelyn commanded. Joanna rolled her eyes and went into the bathroom. She could never win an argument with her sister.

She came out some minutes later and had to comply with her sister as they made her hair and chose her an outfit.

"You look great" Charlotte smiled as she pushed Joanna towards the mirror. She was contented with what she saw.

Her long hair was straightened and it fell in a wave below her shoulders. The dress was provocative and was cut below her knees leaving her legs bare. It hugs her curves and she wondered why she never noticed she was voluptuous. She was always in her baggy shorts and tops.

"Don't you think David will think I dress to impress him?"

She turned to them. She had her doubts and didn't want him to think she was trying to seduce him.

"Well, you should dress to impress him" Evelyn emphasized."After all he is your husband" and she smiled widely like she was given a trophy.

"Honey!" A voice yelled from downstairs.

"Coming" Evelyn called back." Charlotte, come 'on, we need to leave. Anna come down with us. Your deliveries are here".

" Was that Michael? Wait, What deliveries?"

"Come down and see" Evelyn replied as they went out of the room and downstairs.

She followed them reluctantly and came down but stopped when she saw some boxes. Her things had been sent from the house. Her clothes, shoes, books, and every other thing that belonged to her, all of it came perfectly packed in boxes. She laughed bitterly as the reality kept telling her that she was married and that the house was her permanent place to share with someone she didn't know.

"Hey love, settling in yeah?" Michael kissed Joanna's cheek.

"I guess Mum and Dad were eager for me to leave the house" She rolled her eyes at them."Seriously? My stuff? So soon?"

"It is time you give them some space" Michael joked and Joanna playfully punched him on the arm.

Joanna had always admired Michael. He was her sister's husband but he was never a bore. Michael was entirely different from her so-called husband who she noticed was a reserved person and hardly ever spoke unless spoken to. She could say that about his personality from 4 years ago during her sister's wedding. She and her friends had gushed over his hot body but his behavior was what put her off and she could not tolerate him. Hence, they had never spoke a word to each other.

"Mary, please help Ms. Joanna with her stuff" That was when she noticed David giving instructions to a maid. But couldn't he tell that the maid wasn't Mary? And why would he care where her boxes are? It was not like he cared or something.

Joanna's cheek flushed when their eyes met with David's. He had changed into a flanked top and jeans trousers and she could see his muscles behind the fitted top. He looked at the whole of her and she could have sworn his eyes flickered. Was she looking that good?

"It is Sofia Sir" the maid corrected him politely.

"Right" He nodded and she left, taking some of the boxes with her.
