*Lila’s POV*
If there was ever something that would probably turn Mia off of the whole shifter thing, it would be this, which was why I was extremely glad she wasn’t here.
The whole ‘living out the shifter fantasy’ usually kept to things like romance and a hot significant other, not the other terrible things like territory disputes, false mate marks, and whatever THIS was.
It felt way too personal to be just a war now. I wonder if it ever wasn’t personal.
Now wasn’t the time for that, though. I was a bystander in the chaos and while I didn’t know why every Bolstrode here wasn’t trying to kill me, it wasn’t exactly a safe place to be.
I was nothing more than an observer and the disconnect between the two worlds we lived in never felt starker. I wasn’t a wolf, I was human. I wasn’t as strong or fast as they were. There were so many things I didn’t know, so many things I had to learn, and so many things I would never learn.
