Chapter 44

Selene's POV

I was working on pairing mates for some of my children in the Philippines when I heard someone calling me.

"Mother, MOTHER COME QUICK!" One of my wolves was hollering for me.

I stopped what I was doing and rushed to the fountain where she was standing. When I looked into it I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Koa and the King were going at it and she was about to kill him.

"No not yet! She can't…." I turned around and headed for my portal to earth.

I brought the thunder and lightning with me to get everybody else away. As soon as I saw everybody was clear and gone, I made my appearance.

"Koa! Get off him!" I shouted but she didn't budge. "NAKOA! NOW!"

Koa cringed at the sound of her full name and slowly backed away from the King with her head lowered but still not breaking the eye contact.

"While I should be thanking you, more importantly who are you my dear?" The King asked while standing up and brushing off the sand.

"Oh don't play me Athos! Do NOT act like you don't know who I am!" Century and a half later and he still hadn't changed. Damn man whore is all he was and all he will ever be!

That's when the King looked up and they locked eyes. The King stumbled backwards a couple of steps and I heard Koa snicker under her breath.

"Selene? Is that…but how? I don't understand. We buried you! I watched you die with my own eyes!" The King stuttered out.

"Celeste saved my life by making me the Moon Goddess." I said nonchalantly.

Athos started to take a few steps towards me before I heard Koa let out a low warning growl. I held my hands up, one to each of them to tell them to both stop.

"Do not come near me Athos. I have seen your true colors and you are…well words that a Goddess shouldn't speak. As for you missy," I turned to look at Koa, "You should know better. History will NOT repeat itself. Do you understand me?"

Koa whimpered and lowered her head even more, "I'm sorry mother. I let my emotions get the best of me. It will not happen again."

"Now, the both of you will return to your daily routines as usual and play nice with each other. Do I make myself clear?! If you two can't get along I will make you hug each other until you both apologize and mean it. Push me and I'll make you kiss each other on the cheek! Understood!?" Oh god lord help me, I sound like my own mother!

"Yes ma'am." Koa sounded defeated.

The King was silent, just standing there staring at me. "Do you understand?!" I repeated myself directly to him this time.

"I am the King. I take orders from no one!" He puffed out his chest and squared his shoulders at me.

"Oh no you just didn't." I chuckled while shaking my head. I raised my arm up towards the sky and clasped my fist as a I brought it down and a lightning bolt hit not 5 feet from him. It was just a little one, just enough to get his attention. "Again, do you understand?"

The King had jumped from the bolt enough to land on his ass, so now he was looking up at me and I could see the fear in his eyes. He just nodded his head at me like a child afraid to speak.

"Good then. Off you go. Hope you both enjoy the rest of your day." I smiled and turned to walk away to head back to my realm.

Once I was back in my realm I walked over to the fountain to check on the father-daughter duo to make sure they heeded my warning. Nakoa wasn't the one I was worried about, it was Athos. He was always a sly little shit. I always joked that he was more of a fox than a lycan, which he didn't take to kindly to.

Once I saw both of them go back into the mountain and they were separated, I circled my fingers through the water to bring up the most moments that lead up to what I saw. Once I saw the whole thing unfold. I threw my hands up.

"Ughhh damn vampires! Always sticking their pointed little noses where they don't belong!" I shouted. One of my wolves was laying on the floor curled up and when I shouted it scared them and they jumped up.

"Mother, what are we going to do about the vampires? You know they don't play nice and take whatever they want. They can't be trusted." The wolf said.

"I know darling. I know. I guess I'll have to make a special visit to their creator." I said with a sigh. I hated dealing with that man.

Knowing what I had to do, I prepared myself to meet with him. Once I found his location, I headed back to earth. I had the hood of my cloak on so no one would see my face and recognize me. I walked through the small quiet town until I came up to the large home sitting up on a hill surrounded by trees. Nice to see that he hasn't changed his style. I walked up the path leading to the home and up the few steps to the front door. I knocked 3 times and waited. It didn't take long for someone to answer the door.

"Hello I am here to see Collin." I said to the woman who opened the door.

"Come in. I will let the master know you are here. Is he expecting you?" She asked.

"I'm actually not sure if he is or not in all honesty." I gave a soft smile to show that I wasn't a threat. She just nodded and then walked away.

It didn't take long before I heard his voice from behind me. "Thought I smelled a dog in here." I rolled my eyes before I turned around.

"Funny, all I smell is a rat." I looked him dead in the eye when I said it. "Enough with the insults Collin. I don't have time for that right now. I am here on official business."

"Straight to the point. I like it." He smirked and motioned for me to have a seat. "What kind of business brings you to my neck of woods midday?" He asked.

"There is about to be a war between the wolves and lycans, specifically the lycan King, which yes I know is not your favorite person. But he received a visit today from one of your vamps named Dimitri." I could see on his face that he already did not like where this was going.

"Dimitri you say?" He questioned.

"Yes. He claimed to have gone on orders from his leader. Long story short, they threatened to take the land in northern Scotland." I informed him.

"Northern Scotland? I see where this is going. I have been having some issues out of a few groups in Europe and now it sounds like one of them is wanting land back from centuries ago. Vamps haven't had claim to that land in over 300 years!" Collin stated while rubbing his chin.

"I just wanted to inform you on the acts that happened this morning. Like I said there is a war coming, very soon actually, between wolves and lycans. It has nothing to do with your kind and I would appreciate if you would keep them out of it." I said.

"War between them that has nothing to do with us? Of course we won't interfere. I would not like to lose any of my people because of your kind. As for this land business, I will be looking into that. I will also be sending a couple of my most trusted men to head over there and round this group up and bring them back here. We will then discuss what will be done, but rest assured no vampire will be joining in on your war. Not without the penalty of death anyways." Collin just shrugged his shoulders.

"Well I do appreciate you handling this in a timely fashion. We only have a couple days if that. You know I can't tell you to much of the future." I said.

"Of course. Thank you for stopping by with this information." Collin nodded at me.

"Thank you for seeing me unexpectedly." I nodded back and then stood up to walk towards the door.

"Selene please. Just poof yourself from here. No reason to walk back through town." Collin insisted.

"As you wish." I winked before "poofing" myself back to my realm. I hope he chokes on that smoke, I thought to myself.

"How did it go mother?" One of my wolves had come up to me to take my cloak.

"Actually, a lot better than expect. Man must be getting mellow in his old age." I shrugged to myself.

Now back to pairing mates. This job just never ends.

Collin's POV

"Dante, Michael, my chambers NOW!" I yelled out so the whole house heard me.

I heard 2 sets of footsteps running upstairs and I could follow them down the stairs and into my chambers before they were both standing in the doorway.

"Yes boss?" They said in unison.

"Seems we have a little bit of problem with one of the groups in Europe. We are on a very short timeline here. There's going to be a war between wolves and lycans within the next day or so and the King of lycans received a visit from one of our vamps called Dimitri who said he was there on his leader's orders. He made threats of taking back the land in Northern Scotland. Please go investigate this allegation and make sure that nobody from our kind is involved with the dog fight. I want Dimitri and his leader and anybody else who gives you issues brought back to me to be dealt with. I will be going with you I just need to settle a couple of things here first." I ordered.

"Yes boss." They both agreed again with no questions asked. They turned on their heels and headed out.

I picked up the phone and called up my top, most trusted, friend and fellow vamp. I explained the situation at hand and that I would need him to fill in for me here while I was gone. Again, no questions were asked just affirmation.

I waited for him to arrive and explained a few of the tasks that I needed done while I was gone. It was mostly just legal paperwork for some new property I was looking into. I'm sure he could handle it.

I headed out and Dante and Michael were waiting for me in the car. We drove to the airport and booked a flight for Germany. The group I was going to be looking into was located in northern England but I didn't want them to get the heads up of my arrival.

Once we landed in Germany, we decided it would be faster to run the trees than to rent a car and drive to England. We met a few other vamps along the way and questioned them about the group and the on-goings around the parts lately. So far we have learned that the group in question has been turning humans into vamps to grow their numbers and they are running out of space.

"Those idiots. There's a reason why we have limitations on numbers!" Dante spoke up.

"Looks like we're going to have our hands full with this group if the rumors are true boys. Be ready for anything and everything." I said more as a warning than anything.

I have dealt with this type of thing in the past. Leaders get to power hungry and try to build their own armies and take over towns completely until all the humans were dead and gone and then they would move on. They seem to forget that if the creator is killed, all who were turned by him or her are incinerated also with time.

We made it to small village on England's north side and found a rather nice hotel to stay in. I sent Dante and Michael out to try and find the leader of this group while I called back home to check-in on things. After ending the phone call, I was thinking about the land in question in northern Scotland. It would be nice to hand that back but not at the expense of my kind. I thought it over for a few hours and decided to let the dogs fight it out and then see where it goes from there. Maybe we don't have to fight at all.

Just then I heard Dante and Michael coming back to the room. They had someone else with them. It was a young girl that I didn't recognize as being one of us.

"Boss we found this one feeding on an elderly lady in an ally. Says she was just turned within the last week." Michael said.

"Within the last week huh?" I repeated. I motioned towards a chair that was in the corner of the room, "Sit down my child. What's your name"

"M…my…na….name…is…..Dominque." She stuttered out.

"That's a French name is it not?" I asked.

"Ye…yes…sir." She stuttered more. I could tell the girl was scared out of her mind.

"Can you tell me how you got here Dominque?" I questioned.

The girl was still shaking and stuttering and stumbling over her words so bad I could barely understand her.

"Michael get this girl a glass of water will you?" I asked as nicely as a I could and then turned back towards the girl and took her hands in mine. "Look child, we are not here to hurt you. I am top of the food chain, so to speak, of the vampire line. All vamps created are because of me. You need not fear me. You are safe with us now. We are just here on business and we have to complete an investigation before the dog fight begins." I spoke softly to show her that she was in no danger. I couldn't punish her for being turned, it wasn't her fault.

The girl finally calmed down after drinking some water and taking a few deep breaths. I asked her to continue her story to which she did. She told us how she was turned and the location of the leader's house. Sounds like she's one of the new ones from the group I was looking into.

"Excuse me, but earlier you said dog fight?" She asked.

"Yes I did." I responded but questioning why she would bring that up. "Do you know something about it?"

"Well not exactly, but I did overhear a couple of guys talking about it. They said that they were going to hide in the trees and let the dogs take care of each other first and then they would take care of any survivors." She said.

"Oh really now?" I said with a smirk looking towards my men who were smirking also. "Here's the deal child, us vamps do not get involved with the werewolves or lycans. They want to kill each other off then so be it. The only time we get involved is when I give the order to do so, which I haven't in this case. So here's what's going to happen now. I am going to get you the room right here next to mine. I will put one of my men on guard duty for you. You will not be harmed as long as you are with us as token of my appreciation of the information you just gave me."

"Thank you sir." She said.

"No thank you. Go on and shower up and Michael will get you some food and how's a bottle of bourbon sound?" I asked her.

"I don't drink alcohol sir. I'm not even of age yet." She said kind of shocked.

"Trust me on this one. It will help with the cravings." I turned to Michael and gave him the orders to fetch a bottle of bourbon and some food for the girl and to also get the key for the room next door. Michael nodded his head and took off.

"Dante, you, and I are going to go pay a visit to this leader. Seems like there's a party that we weren't invited to." I said.

We waited for Michael to come back and got Dominque settled in her room. Once I knew she was taken care of Dante and I left to look for the "headquarters" of the leader of this group.
