You have obtained a hidden Legendary Weapon!

"Dammit!"

A high school boy, named Satrio, looked frustrated in front of his computer. He was playing Midgard Online, a brand new MMORPG game.

A pop up, medium-sized window which said, "Upgrade Failed", appeared on the screen.

The boy rested his body on his gaming chair, leaning his tired back against it.

"Two failures already, lots of high quality materials have gone wasted. I'm broke if there is a third one".

Satrio closed the pop up window and decided to take it easy for a moment. He had been grinding and upgrading some weapons, back and forth for almost 12 hours.

He opened his character profile, with 'Zatrios' as his nickname, to see his skill tree. Scrolling it down to the very bottom, he looked at his strongest passive talent, 'Godsmith' and 'Efficient Upgrade Lv. 5'. 'Godsmith' provided the player with 20% bonus successful enhancement rate, while "Efficient Upgrade Lv. 5" gave 20% reduction materials used for upgrading.

Satrio then looked at his 'Master Hammer', the best upgrading hammer tool currently in the game. There were only three hammers for now, 'Normal Hammer' which gave 10% bonus successful upgrade chance rate, 15% bonus for 'Advanced Hammer', and 20% bonus for 'Master Hammer'.

The last one was exclusive, since it was a reward for reaching level 80 as a blacksmith.

He already knew a lot about upgrading mechanic in this game through his experience as a blacksmith player. Each equipment rarity had its own upgrade success rate, and they gradually became harder to upgrade the higher the level. At level 95 to 100, Common rarity had 30% success rate, 25% for Rare, 20% for Super Rare, 15% for Ultra Rare and 10% for Legendary.

Many equipment he owned, even some Common rarity ones, he upgraded them to high level purely for fun. Other players didn't even bother to use or even upgrade low rarity equipment.

But Satrio, as a player who devoted his blacksmith role, he discovered his own satisfactory just by looking at his high levels upgraded weapons. Sure it was costed him lots of time and efforts, but he was satisfied.

He already tasted upgrading all rarity, including some Legendary ones even if he didn't have any. Since Satrio was the only end game blacksmith, lots of players asked him to upgrade their weapons.

Some of them were top players who already obtained Legendary weapons. Those players provided him with their own materials.

Thanks to his 'Efficient Upgrade Lv. 5' skill, he could claimed lots of materials left over from those upgrading demands. It was a win-win situation for him. Not only he was having fun, but also he improved his blacksmith experiences and skills a lot.

Satrio observed a sword he had been upgrading right now. It was 'Blazing Sword of Droarch', an Ultra Rare weapon that he got after defeating a flame dragon named Droarch. It was a pretty strong sword, and it helped him a lot with his grinding activities.

He also admired its design. Its grip was covered in dark red, with a cone-shaped pommel on its bottom part. A pair of dragon wings ornament as its cross-guard were elegantly polished. Its rain-guard was crafted in the shape of a dragon's head with its mouth wide opened.

The blade looked kinda glowing, also covered in dark red while its fuller was black from the base to the tip of the blade.

In the description itself, it was said that 'You can even feel the heat of Droarch's breath just by holding it', making it looked even more badass to him.

"It's 45% chance of failure and I already got twice. Man, I don't have any 'Scroll of Upgrade' left", Satrio talked to himself while looking at the sword.

That scroll item gave a 100% successful upgrade rate for once, and it was so exclusive that the game shop only provide it 10 pieces per month.

Satrio then opened his inventory to see his remaining materials.

Recently, he didn't take any request from other players and had been focusing on upgrading his own equipment. It was no surprise that he would run out of materials eventually.

While Satrio's eyes were still running around at his inventory, he spotted one of his weapon which he had been upgrading recently.

The weapon was sitting in silent at the most upper left corner of his inventory with its level 99, beside his other weapons with various rarity. Despite being a starter weapon, Satrio had been upgrading this 'Normal Sword' purely for fun.

"I better up this one. It gives me a strange feeling of discomfort when looking at a weapon with level 99".

Satrio took a deep breath, "Please game, one more level and I'm done with this baby". The successful upgrade chance rate was 70%, but an RNG was a still an RNG. As long as it was not 100%, he had to prepare getting a failure.

Although it was just a Common weapon, it did still cost some high quality materials to upgrade the higher the level. He opened the upgrading menu and picked his level 99 'Normal Sword'.

He prayed to RNGod, then clicked the upgrade button.

Satrio's eyes, feeling ready to sacrifice another more materials if he failed, locked at a progress bar appeared in the center of the screen with 0% above it.

The game produced some clunking of metal sound effects, and the bar filled with green color running from the left to the right as the 0% rose, reaching a 100% complete.

A different clunking of metal sound was heard as the upgrading progress finished. It was then followed by a cheering sound effect, rather than a sad one.

He heard those probably for thousands times already, yet still had this feeling of joy when the cheering one came up. He saw a new pop up window appeared on the screen. The word, "Success" was written on it.

Satrio closed the pop up window, and then another new one appeared. This time, it was a little bigger than before.

[Congratulations! You have obtained a Legendary Weapon!]

A picture of 'Normal Sword' was at the center of the window with its new name, 'Legendary Normal Sword', below it. Satrio scratched his head, its icon and design did not change.

But Its rarity turned from dark grey Common into yellow bright Legendary. Nobody had ever said this kind of weapon, even in the in-game community posts or social media.

[You have obtained a hidden Legendary Weapon!]

[Do you want to publicly announce it?]

"Hell no!", Satrio shouted as he hit the 'No' button. He grew attached to his equipment that he had been taking care of since the beginning.

He did not want to lose it.

Satrio considered his equipment as if they were his children. Last week, a rich players asked him to sell one of his max level Ultra Rare armor, offering him twice amount of what he already spent to upgrade it. Even if he rarely used it and the offer was promising enough, he refused.

A notification appeared on the top right of the screen. Satrio's eyes shifted to it and he felt kinda surprised looking at what the notification said.
