Meeting The King (1)

"It must have been too much trouble agreeing to drop me off." Cassian looked to his right, meeting the gaze of Alaric who had ordered his Coachman to stop the carriage in front of Cassian's home.

"No need for formalities when we're alone."

He looked out the window, staring at the beautiful medium-sized manor before meeting Cassian's indifferent gaze.

"A lovely house you've got." He commented, and then his gaze instantly shifted to a young woman who had stepped out of the house. From her expression and the sweet smile on her lips, Alaric could guess she had heard the carriage stop and had come to check on who it was.

"Is that your wife?" He asked, leaving Cassian momentarily confused until the young lad also peered out the window to see Madeline standing at the porch, holding a lantern. She looked bright and beautiful, and her midnight black hair was let down, accentuating the youthfulness of her face.

"Yes, that's my wife."
