The Plot

"Why are you so afraid?"

Cyrus, looked up and frowned when he realized that it was the priestess that was speaking.

"Why do you still bother to veil yourself when nobody but us is here?"

She chuckled as she sat on the glass table. She looked around the dark gloomy room of the leader of the underworld and, stopped when she realized it was what she had expected, dark and boring.

"Don't you realize that the walls have ears? Surely you of all people are aware of that."

Cyrus, nodded and turned away from her. He looked outside the room window, staring at the moon. "I have failed you. Forgive me." He whispered, referring to the unsuccessful council meeting.

"I didn't expect much from you."

"That hurts."

"If not anything, I expected this to happen." She said softly as, she twirled her hair on her fingers.

He looked back at her in shock, wondering what she was talking about. "You expected this to happen?"

"Yes. Surely there's no way we can kill Arzhel, he's just too strong. It would take us a thousand light years before we can kill him."

"Then why did you tell me to hold that meeting if you knew all efforts were futile? Was it to kill time or to make a jest of me?"

"Both."

"Both?!" His voice raising in anger.

She laughed at his reaction before she shook her head. "I'm joking. The truth is that, I have my reasons, I merely wanted to check something."

"So you used me." His voice, gradually increasing.

"Yes I did."

Cyrus, clenched his fists and gritted his teeth.

He felt the urge, to smash her face across the wall but he stopped when he realized something was amiss. He knew the priestess was a bitch but she always tried to sugarcoat things. But now, she seemed different, more commanding, demanding, as though she were a different person.

"Who are you?!" He demanded.

The priestess smiled as she realized that, he had figured out that she was an imposter. "It took you long enough to realize. Not surprising since you've been under my spell."

In a flash, she removed the veil concealing her identity and flung it across the room.

Cyrus's eyes widened as he beheld the beautiful face behind the veil. Her skin was porcelain, her hair was as dark as the night and her lips, as dark as grapes.

He forced himself to snap out of the shock of her beauty and focus. "How long have you been impersonating her?"

She raised her fingers, and pretend to count. "Well... since the moment she died."

"Died?" He muttered in shock. The last time he had seen her, she was very much alive and breathing.

He eyed the beautiful woman and wondered how strong she possibly was. Surely she wasn't the one that killed the powerful priestess?

"I killed her." She drawled as she traced her long red nails on the, glass table.

"Impossible! She is extremely powerful."

She threw her head back and released a hearty laugh, causing Cyrus to look at her in bewilderment. "She was?" She said after she had stopped laughing. "I didn't realize when I snapped her neck into two. But, she did scream like the bitch she was."

She snarled as she remembered her disgusting voice. "She was very unattractive but I kept her alive long enough to take her powers in order to fool all of you."

Cyrus stood up and stumbled backwards, looking for what to grip unto. "What do you want?"

She looked at him and grinned cruelly, displaying a set of beautiful teeth. "I want what you want. I am on your side, for now." She added the last part in a warning tone.

Cyrus, understood everything she was not saying. She could easily kill him if she wanted, he would become her puppet if she wished. If she was powerful enough to kill a priestess and steal her powers, then she could end his life if she so desired.

In the battle of powers, he had lost. He clenched his fist at his weakness. He had an idea of who she was, and if he was accurate, he was as good as dead.

"You want Arzhel dead." He concluded.

"Of course I want that but unlike you, I'm not crazy to directly go after him. I do not fight a losing battle."

"Then what should we do?"

She walked towards him, and placed her hand on his shoulder. "Why don't we crush his soul, destroy what he cares about. And then, trap him for ten thousand years so she'll be reincarnated. Although this time around, she won't because her soul will thoroughly be destroyed unlike last time."

She shook her head and frowned at the fact that they had failed to kill her off before. The only reason why they were having this problem, was because fragments of her soul, were left unharmed.

"You mean his beloved fated to him? No one knows if she really exists."

She, smirked and ran her hands across his chest. "But I do. If you want him dead, then kill her, let fate only repeat itself."

Cyrus, studied her. Although she seemed sinister and evil, he felt an emotion of pain and anger."Why do you harbour so much hatred against the girl?"

Her face, turned to that of disgust as she remembered the past. "Because she dragged me to hell, alongside her."

Twenty hooded men gathered in the night sky, awaiting the instructions of their master.

A man, wearing a velvet hood to conceal his identity, raised his hands, signalling for every slight movement or whisper to halt.

"My trusted men, I have gathered you here tonight on a very important mission, one which our lives will depend on."

He paused to look at their faces which had been hardened from ending many lives. "From far and wide you are the best mercenaries, skilled in the art of killing so tonight, you shall go on a hunt."

He picked up a picture, and raised it for them to see, the moon casting its light on the image.

"You are to go on a witch's hunt. To kill this woman and bring back her head!"

The men, knelt down and bowed to him. "Yes Sire." They echoed in unison.

"And if you fail, do not come back here alive."

"Yes Sire."

"Take caution for if she is truly what I suspect, then your lives in itself will be in danger."

"And who are we hunting Sire?" One of the men asked.

He looked at his men, and his eyes hardened in anger and slight fear.

"The Vampire's whore."

Koa, knelt in front of the border and he inspected the markings which separated the wolves from other supernaturals and also, protected them.

"Something is wrong." He said. He pointed to one of the guards behind him to come closer.

"Yes Alpha."

"How long has there been an opening in the border?"

"Alpha, we just discovered it now."

Koa twitched in irritation and anger.

Had his senses reduced? How had someone been able to destroy the border and he had not sensed it immediately?

This was his land, his Kingdom, and someone dared to interfere?

"Beta, if I had failed to sense this until now, then this means whoever destroyed this is either a powerful wolf or a fierce spellcaster." He paused to look at the almost invisible break in the markings. "It cannot be a wolf because I would be able to sense a strange being, on my land."

"Then it is a spellcaster?"

Koa, nodded in affirmation. Although he was not totally convinced but, it was the only safest possible answer. "One creature, whose presence I cannot sense immediately is that of a high ranking spellcaster."

"But Alpha, you would still be able to sense a shift after some time." His Beta argued, refusing to believe that the Alpha wasn't omnipotent.

"You're right , I would still be aware after some minutes and this mark, is a day old."

Koa's hand, shook as he realized what has happened. There was only one other possible way.

For the first time since he became the Alpha, fear, gripped Koa's heart.

He looked towards the direction of the guest house and he knew, what the invaders came for.

"Ready the men. We are under attack."

"Alpha, from who?"

Koa, stood up, ready for battle and turned to look at his men.

"The dead."
