chapter 39

The poolside was situated at the back of the house, the pool, was large and almost as blue as the sky above it and glimmered as the sun's light reflected against it. The air was clear and Halo under any other circumstance would have gone for a swim but this was one beautiful day that she did not want to enjoy underwater. Instead, she settled for sitting by the edge of the pool, her pants rolled up to her knees while Rosie splashed around in the water.

Halo watched Rosie dive in and out of the pool, giggling loudly and it warmed her heart. She was aware that her friend never got to experience things like this in all her twenty-six years alive and it made Halo glad that her marriage with King Jamal had made something like this possible. It was the other silver lining aside from her brother not losing his head that she could see in the entire situation.

Rosie waved at Halo to get in the water but the latter shook her head in disagreement.
