Instead of feeling relief, I winced at the sound of the prince’s voice. I guess I should have gone into hiding if I wanted to avoid him for real instead of just sitting here on a bench in the garden out in the open.

It would have been a disaster for me if she found out the truth that I had run out here to escape the prince. Although I didn’t think that it was my fault, I also knew that Madame wouldn’t think the same way. As far as I was concerned, this was all Prince Leonard’s fault for telling me all those things all of a sudden.
