Chapter 9

Honey

True to his word, Connor had gotten the items on Cristi's list delivered before late afternoon. Throughout the day, delivery trucks had been rocking up non-stop to deliver furniture and appliances and other household items. As the trucks had arrived, we had all pitched in to unload the items and helped to put the furniture where Cristi had wanted it. After we had finished, we all hooked in and packed things away in time for the next delivery to arrive. It had been a lot of work, but in the end we had gotten there. Now the majority of the house was set up.

I finally had some time for myself and I was now sitting in my room. I was enjoying the opportunity to relax and have a moment to myself. I was looking around at the new furnishings I had received that day. The bedroom I had chosen was a pale shade of green. The ceiling was white, and the trim was also painted white. I found the pale green shade to be very relaxing and calming.

I don't know who had picked out the furnishings for my bedroom, but they had chosen well. When we had been setting up my room, Cristi had told me that she had just written bedding and furnishings suitable for a twelve-year-old girl's room. I was happy to say that I was really happy with the choices that had been made. I was even happier that Cristi had chosen to have a queen-sized bed in my room.

There was a gold decal on the pale green wall right above my bed saying 'Queen, whenever you feel overwhelmed, remember whose daughter you are and straighten your crown'. I smiled as I looked at it once more. It was a daily reminder for me that I was the daughter of an Alpha.

The solid timber queen bed was running parallel to the window. The bed had a white duvet that had a multicolored unicorn and stars on it. On the wall opposite the bed there was a student's desk and an office chair, along with a new laptop that I would be requiring for school. There was also a tall chest of drawers between the wall and the window. The curtains in the window were black block out curtains to help keep the room dark, since the window was east facing.

There was a bookshelf against the wall at the base of the bed and beside the bookshelf was a built-in wardrobe. I looked on the bed at all the bags and boxes sitting on it. The bags and boxes had to be unpacked. They contained clothing and accessories I had to put away. I began to unpack the clothing from the bags, looking at each of the items before I began to remove the tags and put them in the wardrobe and drawers. There was an assortment of items for me to sort through. Everything from underwear and socks through to winter clothing. I was glad that whoever had been sent clothes shopping for me had good taste. There were no items among the lot that I didn't like. Once I had finished putting all the clothing away, I began to open the boxes of shoes. There was a nice assortment of footwear for me to unpack. Sandals, runners, dressy boots and hiking shoes. As I put each of the pairs of shoes on the floor of my wardrobe, I felt a sense of relief that, clothing wise, my wardrobe was complete. Clothing wise, I had everything I needed.

I looked at my bed and saw there were still two bags I needed to unpack. I walked over to my bed and grabbed the first bag and peered inside. There was an assortment of bath products and hygiene items in the bag. I pulled out each of the items and looked at them, seeing the bag contained shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, face wash and pore scrub, toner and moisturisers. There were deodorants and a toothbrush and toothpaste, pore strips and face masks, breath mints and mouthwash. There were also a pack of razors and a tin of shaving cream, some feminine products, a pack of four lip balms, a hairbrush and a pack of hairbands. Once all the items were lying on my bed, I opened the second bag and the first item I saw was a Lilo and Stitch toiletries bag. It was purple with a cute picture of Stitch on the front. I began packing the toiletries that I would need to take with me to the bathroom whenever I took a shower into the bag. The items fit into the bag easily with room to spare. The items I wouldn't need in the bathroom, I set up on top of my chest of drawers.

Walking back over to my bed, I unpacked the rest of the items from the last bag. There were a couple of nice belts, two ball caps, an Apple Watch and an Apple iPhone. There were two boxes of Tylenol, two beanies; one was pink, purple and white and the other one was black. They would come in handy in winter. I put the items away and looked around my bedroom. Apart from the bags and boxes which now lay on the floor empty, my room was complete. This is now my new safe place. My old life is over. My old home is now gone. This was the life I had to embrace and learn how to live. I just hoped that Zac wasn't going to cause any problems for me here. But somehow I just knew I wasn't going to be that lucky.
