Chapter 8

Honey

When the Alpha had left the room, I looked at Tony. I was worried. How could I do the ceremony without anyone finding out who my parents were? Cristi and Zac had been instructed by Tony to not say anything to anyone about who I really was. But if I was to state my name during the ceremony, it wouldn't take a genius to figure out who I was.

We got up and followed Cristi's father, Connor, out of the room and down to the car. "I will get the quad bike, and you guys follow me in your car to the old Milton place," he instructed. The four of us got into the car and once Connor had the quad bike going, we followed him down the road to the house that would become our new home. As Tony was driving, I looked around at the houses and the buildings which were scattered around. The houses and buildings all looked well maintained. The houses all had nice fences and gardens surrounding them.

It wasn't long before we were pulling up in front of a two-storey wooden house that had been built on top of a high brick foundation. The house had six steps in the front, and it also had two decent-sized porches with white railings that matched the fence that surrounded the well-maintained yard. The porches were in front of the house and on top of each other. One upstairs, and one downstairs. It didn't surprise me, that, like the others we had passed, this house also had a nice wooden fence around it and gardens in the front yard. The house was a creamish yellow in color with white trim. It had black shingles on the roof and charcoal gray blinds over the windows, and the brick foundation had also been painted charcoal gray.

"This is nice," Cristi said, as she looked at the house in front of us.

"Yeah it is, but it is not as good as home," Zac told her.

"This is home now bud," Tony told him.

"Don't remind me," Zac grumbled, getting out of the car and slamming the door behind him.

Tony, Cristi and I, got out of the car and watched as Connor got off the quad bike and walked over to us and handed Cristi a notepad and pen. "Okay, I will walk you through the house so you can take a look at the place. Now, as we go through the place, Cristi, I will get you to write a list of what you will be needing. Once I have your list, I will make sure the items are here by this afternoon."

With that, we followed him through the front gate and up to the front porch. Climbing the steps, we waited on the porch for Connor to open the door. As soon as the door was opened, he handed Cristi the key. The front door opened up to a foyer, which was the start of a hallway. To the left there was the dining room and kitchen, and across the hallway to the right there was the lounge room. We stepped into the kitchen and lounge room and briefly looked around. The kitchen was modern and had a dishwasher and rangehood oven with a cooktop. There was a lot of cupboard storage space which I knew that Cristi would love. I looked at Cristi who was writing on the notepad her father had given her. I walked into the lounge room and saw that it had a large open fireplace, and a large window on the far wall.

I walked down the hallway and saw that the room behind the lounge room was a small room that could be used as an office or for storage. The room beside that was a bathroom that had a large walk-in shower on the right-hand side. Under the window on the far wall there was a bath tub and on the left-hand side there was a hand basin. Walking down the hallway, I came to the laundry room and the toilet. I began climbing the stairs to check out upstairs. The first room I saw was clearly the master bedroom. It had French glass doors which opened up onto the upstairs porch and an ensuite bathroom. The other four bedrooms were around the same size and had nothing special about them. There was also another bathroom upstairs and a second fireplace. The upstairs fireplace was an enclosed fireplace. I was taking everything in upstairs when the others caught up to me.

"Okay, choose your bedrooms," Tony told Zac and I. Zac chose the bedroom beside the master bedroom and I chose the one closest to the fireplace, thinking it would be the warmest in winter. I looked at Cristi who was still writing things down on the notepad Connor had given her.

"Okay, so you both have your own rooms chosen. I am sure that your mother has written everything down that we will need. And going by what your grandpa has said, we will have what we need by the end of the day," Tony said.

I watched as Cristi handed Connor the notepad and pen back. Connor looked through the pages that Cristi had written on and nodded before putting the notepad in his pocket.

"Okay, I will get onto it right away. Be prepared for deliveries to start arriving," Connor said as he turned to leave. He went back down the stairs and I heard the door shut on his way out of the house.

"Okay, so I guess all we have to do now is wait, okay," Cristi said, looking at us.
