Chapter 27

"I have no clue either, but I feel like he’s hiding stuff," Jet said.

"He’s definitely hiding a lot," Stacey agreed, nodding her head. "He’s been different lately."

"What do you mean by different?"

"He’s been acting weird. He’s been more moody and snappy," Jet answered for Stacey.

"Why?"

"Wouldn’t we all want to know?"

I sat there, trying to make sense of the information. There were many questions swimming in my head, but I had a feeling that Stacey and Jet didn’t have the answers to these. They were as clueless and curious as I was.

"I think he still lo – " Stacey began, but was cut off by the front door banging open.

It was so loud, causing the three of us to jump a foot in the air. We looked at each other in confusion. Our eyes widened when we heard screams of agony, shouting, and the rushing of feet across the tiled floors.
