Chapter13: The devil's kisses

Bloyd's POV

Chapter Soundtrack: Ocean by Martin Garrix and Khalid

Those assholes! What kind of game did they think they were playing with me, pretending as if they were saints and sorry for me. Like they were not the real murderers of my parents? How could they be so heartless?

I stormed into the guest room that was supposedly mine and slammed the door behind me. I paced restlessly around the room, vibrating with rage. My inner wolf wanted nothing more than to be let out and to teach these people a bitter lesson, devouring them and ending this stupid game once and for all. But I knew that wasn't wise. That wasn't part of my plans with Wallace.

What was I even doing here in a castle full of the same people who had caused mayhem to innocent lives? I should be outside these castle walls, gathering my own rogues and planning to take the Tariums down.

"I need to leave this place. Now." I finalized and walked towards the big, large window, pushing it open. I peered down the window and blinked at how high it was from the ground. Almost as high as a twenty storey building. If I ever tried to jump down this window, that would be the end of me. I would never survive to carry out my revenge or even return back to Wallace.

I grinned from ear to ear as a brilliant idea crossed my mind. There were small spaces within the bricks that were used to make these walls. I could use them to support my hands and legs and successfully climb down these walls. My perfect escape plan. But if I wanted to do this without getting caught, I had to be fast before Arabella or anyone else entered the room.

I raised the hems of my gown and cautiously sat myself on the window, slowly bringing a leg out to feel one of the bricks outside the window.

"Don't tell me you're trying to escape." The masculine voice caught me off guard and my feet almost slipped out of the window but luckily, he was fast to catch me into his arms.

I panted in relief as my eyes stared into Alcot's face towering over mine. My panting slowed down and I was lost in the admiration of his facial features, that I almost forgot his arms wrapped around my waist to stop me from falling. The last time I had seen his face from up close was at the dungeon when we had our not-so-nice encounter. If I could describe his facial features in two words, I would say…

Dangerously attractive.

His face was so close to mine that I could feel his warm breath fanning over my face, his breath smelling of lemon and mint. His lips were slightly parted as he stared down at me with those beautiful and dominating green eyes. I gulped, tempted to seal my lips into his in a kiss. But thankfully, I was able to stop the thought from manifesting on time.

What the hell was I even doing in the arms of my sworn enemy, wishing to kiss him?

"You may let me go now." I whispered, half wishing he would not comply with my demands and continue holding on to me. I felt a little bit of a disappointment when he gently pulled me back in and set me on my foot before letting me go.

Alcot cleared his throat and slipped on his cold demeanor again.

"You could've gotten yourself killed if I hadn't shown up on time."

"You're wrong." I raised my chin defiantly. "I could have caught a brick in the walls to stop myself from falling. I'm smarter than you think I am, Mr. werewolf."

The corner of his lips lifted in what looked like an attempted laugh.

"I guess I should have let you prove me wrong, then."

"Definitely."

"You should be thanking me for saving your life instead of letting the bones in your beautiful body shatter to pieces for attempting to go against my orders and escape the castle."

"And why should I be thanking you? Knowing the kind of person you are, it is quite obvious that you only saved me for later punishments."

His brows furrowed and he seemed to take a moment to consider what I had just said.

"You know, thinking about what you just said, I believe that is a great idea."

"What idea?"

"Saving you for later punishments."

I scoffed in disbelief. "Don't tell me you saved me because you were a 'good guy'. I'd never believe that. Not even in my next life."

"And who said I was a good guy?"

I shook my head and rubbed against my temples lightly, already getting tired of our little argument.

"What were you even doing here? Do you get to barge into my room whenever and however you like just because I am your prisoner?"

"Not like I walked in on you while you were undressing. Although that wouldn't be a terrible sight, seeing that you have an exotic body."

Wait what?

For the first time, I felt out of words to say and I only stared at him blankly. My stomach fluttered and I felt my face redden at the fact that someone as good looking as Alcot had complimented my body. Not that it was any wise to blush over compliments from the son of a murderer.

His hand reached to touch my face and I backed off a little, my body tensed and suddenly protective.

"What are you doing?"

"There's something on your lips." He whispered back, never taking his eyes off me for a moment. His eyes were a little softened now and it felt as though he had dropped his guards. Just like me.

He took a step closer to close in on me and he reached for my face again. This time, I did not back off. I felt an oddly eccentric feeling of warmth and safety as his hand reached for my lips and he softly swiped his thumb over him. My eyelashes fluttered and took in a sharp breath, enjoying the feeling of his thumb on my lips.

"The truth is, I had wanted to meet up with you in your room and express how sorry I am about the death of your parents." He took another step closer, such that our faces were almost touching. Still, I did not back away. I couldn't even though I really wanted to. It felt as if my feet were magneted to the ground and I couldn't do anything to save myself from the devil.

"I hope you find your parents' killers and take your revenge." He said and brought his lips against me, giving me a small, brief kiss that weakened my entire body, down to my knees. I had never felt this way before nor had I been kissed before.

He was my first kiss. My sworn enemy was my first kiss.

Gently, he withdrew his head again and a small, dangerous smile played on his lips.

"Now, you be a good girl and play by my rules so that you can get out of here alive and take the vengeance you have always dreamed for. Surely, you cannot be able to take your revenge if you are dead meat. Can you?"

I still couldn't produce a single word. All I could do was stare at those pretty lips that had seduced me off my first kiss and caused my heart to flutter.

"Do we understand each other?" He asked me again and I managed to nod my head this time.

"Good." He kissed me again on my cheeks and turned his back against me, leaving the room. I watched him go, my heart still beating fast and completely swindled by him.

The devil had succeeded in trapping me to its beautiful abyss of deadly flames with his poisonous kisses.
