Hunting A Jaguar Shouldn't Be That Hard, Right?

Chrysos remembered that in the book, it said that the eyeball can only retain it's form for five hours before dissipating. Chrysos was so focused making the eyeball that he didn't even notice the time.

He looked out the window and saw that it was getting dark.

"Damn, it took that long?" Chrysos revealed a bit of surprise. Anyway, he didn't have the ability to turn back time, so it isn't something that he should dwell on for long.

He cleaned up the area and went to Meiros' room.

He knocked twice and without delay, Meiros' voice could be heard behind the door. "Meiros, get over here. It's almost time to hunt that thing down."

"Master, what's up?" Meiros opened the door and saw that Chrysos holding a piece of paper.

Chrysos gave Meiros the paper and when Meiros analyzed the entire thing, he was quite impressed.

It was detailed information about the Shadow Tremorclaw Jaguar. It has their habits, weaknesses, strengths, favorite meal, and Divinium related abilities.

Not only that, it has a well thought out plan to take the jaguar down. Since his master had this much information about the jaguar, Meiros immediately knew that Chrysos' decision to kill the jaguar wasn't something decided in a day.

"Master, you went prepared." Meiros gave back the plan to Chrysos.

Chrysos took the paper and rolled it. "So after seeing all of that, do you think you have what it takes to follow the entire plan?"

Meiros recalled the memory of the plan and after careful analysis, Meiros nodded. "I'm about 89.293% sure that I can succeed. Of course, that is only if there isn't going to be any mishaps along the way."

Chrysos gave a nod. "I'm impressed. But what about the spells that you were learning? Any progress on that?"

Meiros curled up his lips and created a magic circle in three seconds.

Since Meiros could make this complicated magic circle in three seconds, Chrysos was sure that Meiros had some mastery of the spell.

The magic circle was about 100 centimeters in height and two centimeters in width. It contained over five hundred symbols and markings combined. Truly a spell that requires extreme amounts of memorization.

"So, what can this spell do?" Chrysos saw the different symbols and markings, but with his limited knowledge on spell making, he could decipher only a small part of the magic circle.

"From what I can see, it's a rare tier spell and it's also a metal type. But as for the strange vein shaped symbols, I have no clue what they are." Said Chrysos after his analysis.

Meiros revealed a smug look and said, "Master, this spell is called the "Hundred Thorns Of Alpetine." It has the ability to summon hundreds of metallic thorns that can be suspended in the air by psychic energy."

Meiros was very proud of this spell. He had to read the scroll carefully to scan the contents in his mind. It would've been easy to do so if it weren't for the fact that the scroll contained over 40 explanations with at least 5000 words for each of them!

Meiros used as much Divinium and mental energy that he could to understand and comprehend the spell. And after that much effort, he mastered the basics of the spell.

Using his hand, Meiros manipulated the magic circle to spin counter clockwise. After that, small metallic thorns the size of a pencil started appearing one by one next to Meiros.

He closed his eyes to concentrate and made each and every thorn move independently. Some thorns were spinning, some thorns were moving forward, some are even moving like dolphins in the ocean.

Every thorn looked like they had a life of their own. Meiros opened his eyes and looked at Chrysos. "Master Chrysos, how did I do?"

Raising a thumbs up, Chrysos said, "Not bad. You just need a target to practice on."

Meiros knew that it wasn't good to practice such a dangerous spell inside the house so he asked, "Master, what do you suggest from the training halls a few minutes from here?"

Chrysos shook his head. "Nope, it's getting dark. Going there would be a waste of time." Chrysos then had a brilliant idea. "Actually, why not shoot them at me?"

Meiros was stunned. "Master, are you sure about this?"

Chrysos nodded. "It's fine, I pay for the house anyways."

And with Chrysos' permission, Meiros stopped hesitating and shot out one of the needles at Chrysos.

Pew!

The first thorn swiftly flew towards Chrysos. It had a silvery glint as it shot towards Chrysos' arm.

But before it could even do so, Chrysos activated "Steel Rage" and caught the thorn with just his thumb and index finger.

Chrysos dropped the thorn and said, "Again."

Meiros was quite amazed at Chrysos' performance so with more concentration, he attacked once more.

Pew! Pew! Pew! Pew! …..

Chrysos' arm blurred at it caught every thorn that shot towards him.

103 thorns, 405 thorns, 717 thorns, he caught everything until it reached 1000. And by the thousandth thorn, Meiros stopped aiming.

"*sigh* Master, how are you this fast?" Meiros looked at Chrysos and felt that his master was getting more and more mysterious in his eyes. "Actually, I'm quite curious…"

Chrysos flicked the last thorn in his hand away. "Curious about what?"

Meiros sighed and mustered his courage. "Master, you're not from Ironmountain right?"

Chrysos gave a nod. "Yes, I wasn't born here."

"Then where did you come from? From the beginning, I was wondering who you were and where you were from. But now, you revealed crazy things one after another especially that… bag, so it bugged me for a while." Meiros sighed.

Chrysos laughed and said. "Why didn't you say so?"

Meiros rolled his eyes. "I barely know anything about you and you want me to ask blindly? Wouldn't that be just asking for trouble?" Of course, Meiros didn't say this out loud.

Instead, he spoke calmly. "Master, I was grateful for what you've done for me before. But then again, there are some things that I can't help but wonder about."

Chrysos revealed a gesture of understanding. "Ah, I see.. well then, ask away."

"Thank you." Meiros took a deep breath and said, "Master, where were you from?"

Chrysos pondered for a short while and said, "I came from a place called Earth."

"Earth?" Meiros knitted his brows together.

(The earth element in the Divine Lands is pronounced as Dherous. So in the future, don't be confused between Earth the planet and Dherous the earth element.)

"That's right, Earth. It's a pretty nice place." Chrysos was reminiscing about the memories he had back on earth.

"Where is Earth located?" Meiros asked.

"It's a very far away place from here in Ironmountain and Supremia Aliqierta. Actually, it's even further away from the twenty spirit continents. And on earth, my father is a renowned alchemist and my mother was a famous erm.. celebrity." Chrysos knew that Meiros could remember everything perfectly so he chose his words very carefully.

"So is it from another continent?" Meiros revealed a serious look as if he was trying to decipher something.

"Yes, earth has seven continents." Chrysos turned to look at Meiros who had a shocked expression on his face.

"Master, so that means… you aren't… human?" Meiros finally understood. It was no wonder why his master lived a very secluded life. Not only that, he was covered from head to toe to hide his identity. It all makes sense when Meiros thought about it that way.

Chrysos found the question laughable until he realized why Meiros was making such an expression. "No no no, don't get me wrong, I'm human."

"Wait, so there's other human continents? I don't get it.." Even though Meiros has been taught by Chrysos for a long time, as someone who came from the Divine Lands, he was still limited by the world's way of thinking.

"The Divine Lands is extremely huge, it's not really that confusing for other humans to exist, right?" Chrysos tried explaining it slowly to Meiros. "I only hid for a long time because I wanted to be cautious. But after a while, I realized that it wasn't necessary to do so anymore."

Meiros nodded and asked one last question. "So Master Chrysos… how did you get here in the first place?"

Chrysos didn't have an answer at hand so he quickly thought of an answer for Meiros' question. "Remember when I told you that my parents are famous and renowned?"

Meiros nodded in response.

"I was kidnapped for whatever reason. It was probably for money, or something else, but I don't care. The kidnapping was unfortunately successful, but I escaped midway. But because I did, my father didn't even know that I'm alive right now." Chrysos shook his head bitterly. "And when I woke up, here I am…"

"That must've been… difficult for you.. I'm sorry master, I didn't know." Meiros apologized.

"No no no, there's no need… I have gotten over that by now." Chrysos then patted his shoulders. "Come, let's eat now."

Meiros followed, but he still couldn't believe that Chrysos was actually willing to open up to him like that.

And after he did so, Meiros felt that Chrysos was somewhat his only family in his life. Because of that, he felt warm when he realized that Chrysos had no problems telling him things about his life.

And whenever he remembered his encounter with Chrysos, he couldn't help but smile..

Who knew that the moment where he was merely running away from the patrolmen would lead to his current life?

Chrysos picked up a huge knife and sliced the piece of meat in front of him into small chunks.

On his side, Meiros was skillfully slicing mushrooms and vegetables into cubes. After slicing up two carrots, he placed the cubes in a small basin filled with water and washed them. Next, he began slicing up more vegetables.

Vaf had a bottle filled with oil and poured it into a large pot. Jifel grabbed the pan with his trunk and placed it on top of a stone furnace.

Snap.

Chrysos shot a small fireball into the furnace to light it up without even looking back. And after he heard that the furnace was lit, he clapped his hands together to celebrate the successful shot.

After the ingredients were prepared, Chrysos added some spices and herbs for the meat and vegetables. He then cooked them for a while until it was finally ready.

..

Chrysos, Meiros, Jifel, Vaf and the large lion Ralfor who was currently in his stables ate their meals.

"Vaf, you're eating the bowl again." Meiros held Vaf's head to transmit psychic energy.

After getting the message, Vaf was now eating the food correctly this time.

Chrysos laughed. "Whenever Vaf eats too much food, his mind just goes blank." Taking a spoonful of the food, Chrysos ate it before saying, "Well at least… *munch* he's not as violent as before."

Meiros nodded. "If it weren't for Master teaching Vaf, we'd have to buy more bowls." A stream of psychic energy carried the food steadily into Meiros' mouth.

Recalling how he had to ask for Meiros' help to connect his mind to Vaf just to teach him a lesson made Chrysos chuckle.

"Anyway, as soon as we leave, make sure to tell Ralfor to take care of these two. Jifel is easy to command because of his intelligence and obedience, but Vaf is a ball of chaos." Chrysos pointed his fork at his head to gesture to Meiros.

"Will do." Meiros nodded. And as he finished his meal, he used telekinesis to control the water in his glass and brought it towards his mouth.

Seeing Meiros drink a water spaghetti, Chrysos laughed before finishing up his meal. "Alright, let's go."

With a nod, Meiros went to the stables.

Ralfor looked at Meiros and lowered his head since he already knew what to expect.

Meiros closed his eyes and transmitted the necessary information to Ralfor's mind. And after that's done, Ralfor gave a nod of understanding.

Chrysos tapped the luminous mushrooms attached to the ceiling to turn off the lights. The room immediately became dark as he and Meiros left the house.

The large building of the adventurer's guild was still brightly lit even in the middle of the night. But the lack of light in the surrounding areas made it feel a bit too eye-catching.

"Stay here, I'll be taking the quest." Chrysos reminded Meiros before walking away.

"Don't worry Master Chrysos, I will wait." Meiros leaned on a nearby pole and looked at the direction Chrysos left.

..

Chrysos already knew where the quest was, so he just went to the advanced quests section and grabbed the Shadow Tremorclaw Jaguar's quest.

He thought that it would be smoothly done after that, but as he was about to walk away, an employee from the adventurer's guild stopped Chrysos.

"Sir, you cannot take that quest before paying the fee." The employee was an adult male with black hair and a pretty lean and muscular build.

"Fee? What fee?" Chrysos was confused. When was there a fee for taking a quest?

"It's to prevent people from taking quests so that they cannot overload the information system of the guild. Sir, please understand." The male employee replied with a faint smile.

"So there's a prevention method for spamming…" Gerald thought to himself.

"Alright, how much is the fee?" Chrysos asked the employee.

"250 gold coins." The employee responded calmly.

Chrysos took the correct amount from his wallet and paid the fee.

The employee accepted the payment and said, "This sir, please go this way so that the system could recognize your token."

Chrysos did as told and scanned his token from the weird detector with complex Divinium markings inside. And when the system recognized that Chrysos took the quest, the employee told him that there isn't anything else that he is required to do.

..

Chrysos left and saw that Meiros was patiently waiting for him. "Alright, let's go kill this thing.." Opening the scroll containing the quest's information, Chrysos saw that the jaguar was located deeply in the forest which makes this quest much more dangerous.

Meiros looked at the map and memorized the jaguar's general location according to the map. After that, he pinpointed the area where they have to go albeit crudely, it still pointed towards the right direction.

The two of them shortly left Ironmountain city to kill the jaguar in the Nilcrest Forest.
