When the Nacoris manor came into view it was already nighttime.
Chrysos turned to the two brothers and said, "Okay, just as we agreed on. I can trust you two right?"
Vesiro replied, "Don't worry about it. Since you saved my life this is the least I could do."
Heisch nodded. "Yes, you've helped us a lot. Your request isn't something that we can't do."
Chrysos smiled under his mask. "Great, now let's go." Chrysos snapped his fingers and the root mount crumbled into dust. His aura was no longer an Elitius rank but instead a Creation stage Provectis alchemist.
Welkanor Nacoris is a 3rd stage Elitius ranked summoner. While Chrysos is a 12th stage Elitius ranked Alchemist. He is far beyond Welkanor's level and can easily stomp him to death without even using 8% of his full prowess.
…
…
Chrysos, Heisch and Vesiro, who was carrying the unconscious Scrieno who got knocked out by the roots every time he tried to wake up, walked towards the manor.
Immediately, many guards saw them approaching and intercepted them.
"Halt! This is the Nacoris family's private land, if you want to talk, this isn't the place where you should- wait… is that?" The guard took a closer look and saw that it was the young masters of the Nacoris family!
"Almighty will of the gods! It's the young masters! Quick! Call Viscount Nacoris and tell him that his sons are back!" The guard shouted.
The guards stopped what they were doing and immediately ran back to the manor.
..
Welkanor was sitting in his office when a guard knocked on the door and said, "Viscount Nacoris, your sons have arrived!"
Welkanor was a bit confused. Why are his children back? They should've been at the iron mountain ranges for a few days so this didn't make any sense at all.
"Let them in." Welkanor commanded the guard.
"Yes Viscount Nacoris, this subordinate will take his leave now." The guard bowed his head at Welkanor and hurriedly left the room.
Welkanor sat in his chair thinking about something. It was already strange that his son's got home this early so there must've been a problem.
Anxious for the answer, Welkanor stood up and went out of his office.
…
…
When the four of them arrived at the living room, they all wanted nothing but rest.
Heisch and Vesiro immediately sat down on the cotton padded chairs. They are both extremely exhausted after the things that they had to experience in the Iron Mountains. Both mentally and physically.
The unconscious Scrieno was laid down on the floor while Chrysos sat next to Vesiro comfortably without any looks of being fatigued. In fact, the entire journey wasn't even a warm up for Chrysos.
Chrysos heard footsteps and turned to see Welkanor walking towards them.
..
Welkanor was relieved when he saw Heisch, Vesiro and Scrieno. He was about to ask them what happened when he realized that the fourth man wasn't Levis. In fact, it was someone that he doesn't recognize at all.
He looked at Vesiro and asked, "What happened? And who is this man with you?" Welkanor kept wary of Chrysos and secretly used scanning abilities to find out how powerful this strange person is. And when he saw that it was a mere Creation stage Provectis Alchemist, he didn't even spare him another glance.
Vesiro grinned coldly. "Ask Scrieno."
Welkanor's sight moved towards Scrieno who was still knocked out.
Using Divinium, he wrapped Scrieno's arms and made him stand upright.
He then created a blue water magic circle and used a water based spell to wake Scrieno up.
Splash!
Scrieno gasped for air.
"*cough* *cough* *cough*" Scrieno opened his eyes and saw that he was bound tightly by glowing white wires of Divinium. He recognized the place he was in and the person in front of him almost immediately.
"F- Father…" Scrieno gulped in fear.
"What did you do.?" Welkanor stressed every word. His eyes had a faint flame burning underneath.
Knowing it was impossible to get out of this situation, Scrieno gave up and admitted it. "I used the aggravation scroll and killed Levis… I also tried to kill Vesiro and use Heisch as someone that can testify for me. And lastly, I wanted to use Levis as a scapegoat so that their deaths wouldn't be blamed on me." Scrieno smiled. "Is that what you wanted me to say? Father?" Scrieno laughed. "To be fair, Levis was the one who planned to kill Vesiro to become the head, so I'm not the only one whose plan was to kill."
Welkanor clenched his jaws. "I knew that the trip to the iron mountain ranges was dangerous but I still wanted to send all four of you there. Do you want to know why?"
Scrieno shrugged. "Is it to kill us all?"
Welkanor shouted. "No! It's to teach all of you to settle your differences aside and help each other! To think that you and Levis would kill your own brothers! You are all of the same blood!"
Scrieno sneered. "You should've known by now you stupid piece of $/#+ that we would do anything to become the head of the family. Your methods are too crude if you want us to become closer."
Welkanor's frown grew even deeper. "To be the father of such trash.. I truly am ashamed." Welkanor turned to the guards behind him. "Take him away."
Scrieno glared at him. "Oh I don't think so.. do you think that I'll sit by without doing anything?" Scrieno concentrated all his Divinium in his chest. "If I don't get to live, then no one here can!"
Vesiro was shocked. "He's going to self-destruct!"
Welkanor summoned a shield around Scrieno to prevent the explosion from being too damaging to the surroundings. He can't kill Scrieno or else it'll just increase the explosion and probably make the situation worse.
"Hahaha!" Scrieno's eyes glowed because of the sheer amount of Divinium in his body. He closed his eyes and thought to himself. "If only I was more powerful… maybe, I would've won…"
Tssss-
A sizzling sound could be heard in the room.
"What?" Scrieno felt a sharp pain on the back of his neck. When he turned around, it was Chrysos who stabbed him with a syringe filled with a dark violet potion.
After this, the Divinium in his body started to slowly fade away.
Everyone in the room was shocked except for Vesiro and Heisch who half expected that Chrysos was going to do something.
The only thing on Vesiro and Heisch's mind right now was some admiration for Chrysos' abilities.
Welkanor looked at Chrysos and casted spears of light around him before asking, "I knew that something wasn't right when you were brought in here randomly. Choose your words correctly or you might lose your life."
"Easy there, I just injected a Divinium plundering potion into your son's body to prevent him from blowing up everything." Chrysos took the syringe out of Scrieno's back that made him react in pain before pocketing the syringe. "Also, remove your spears. They do nothing in front of me."
"Audacious words for a mere Provectis ranked alchemist. Do you know who I am? Do you even have the qualifications to talk to a viscount?" Welkanor didn't like how Chrysos was talking to him.
Chrysos shook his head and replied, "I know who you are. You're Viscount Welkanor Nacoris. However, do you know who I am?" Chrysos removed the seal on his Divinium and released the full might of a 12th stage Elitius ranked alchemist!
BOOM!
A powerful shockwave spread out from Chrysos' golden Divinium. The spears of light vanished under the extreme pressure of Chrysos' might.
Welkanor stumbled back a few steps while Scrieno bled out a little bit because of the intense shockwave that he absorbed from Chrysos' sudden release of his power.
"Y- You're a Divinium World Tree Seedling Stage Alchemist?!" Welkanor blurted out uncontrollably. He was truly flabbergasted that this small figure turned out to be someone who could decimate him whenever he wanted with just little effort!
To think that he even called such a figure audacious!
"So, am I qualified to talk to you now?" Chrysos laughed haughtily while looking straight at Welkanor's eyes, sending a cold shiver down his spine.
Welkanor immediately knelt down. "My apologies for offending sir alchemist!"
"Good." Chrysos weakened his aura.
The atmosphere calmed down but the guards and butlers were still stunned silly in their spots.
A 12th ranked Elitius Alchemist! It was someone far beyond the likes of them! To have someone this powerful in such close proximity felt so stifling in fear of provoking this person!
"When I was searching for some ingredients, I happened to come across your children in the midst of their… competition. And your eldest son, Vesiro was about to be on death's door when I saw him and saved his life. After that, they asked me for help and seek justice for Scrieno's crimes, so I did."
Chrysos' hood fluttered in the wind as he sat down on a chair. "However, saving their lives isn't free."
Welkanor's face drained of color. To ask help from a powerful Elitius ranked alchemist, his demands wouldn't be cheap at all. What were his children thinking??
"I want a citizenship in Ironmountain. And the Nacoris family must renew it as long as they exist. Understand?" Chrysos turned his head, giving him an aloof and untouchable aura.
Welkanor was stunned.
"Is that so?" Welkanor couldn't believe that Chrysos' demand would be so simple. He was expecting him to plunder their treasures or give him the family secrets, but to ask for a citizenship? That would never cross his mind in a million years.
"I can assure your greatness that it will be done…" Welkanor didn't dare to lift his head before Chrysos.
"Then I don't have any reason to stay here anymore. However, because of your obedience, I will make sure that anyone who dares attack the Nacoris household will be severely punished by me." Chrysos then walked out of the door not before turning around and saying, "Consider yourselves lucky."
Whoosh!
Chrysos summoned a golden sword and flew away.
Welkanor only dared to stand up when Chrysos finally left. The cold sweat in his back intensified his nervousness earlier when talking to Chrysos.
He turned to his trusted butler and said, "You heard him, make sure to give him what he asked for."
The butler nodded and said, "Viscount Welkanor, even if I want to, I don't know his name."
"Ah right, his name…" Welkanor looked at Vesiro and asked, "Tell me, who is that man?"
"His name is Chrysos Tylo. We don't know who he is and where he came from." Vesiro didn't tell his father about Chrysos running away from Aroiis city because it was a part of their deal.
"Chrysos Tylo…." Welkanor held his chin to think, but he couldn't recall anyone who goes by that name. "*sigh* It must've been difficult for the both of you." Welkanor looked at the battered appearances of Heisch and Vesiro.
The guards quickly carried Scrieno away.
"Vesiro.. as my eldest son, you're now the head of the Nacoris family." Welkanor patted his shoulder.
The butlers and guards clapped their hands.
Heisch happily clapped his hands as well with a smile.
However, unexpectedly.. Vesiro raised his right hand and said, "I refuse."
"What?" Welkanor didn't expect that Vesiro would reject it.
"I refuse to become the head of this family." Vesiro said with a straight face.
"What? Why not?" Welkanor wasn't mad, he was actually curious why Vesiro would reject something that he has been striving for since he was young. He trained so hard to become the family head, yet when he achieved his goal, he suddenly turned it down?
"That's right brother Vesiro, you're the best choice to become the head of the family. And not only that, you were the one who killed the Goldhorn Bull.." Heisch added.
Vesiro sighed. "After what happened, I realized that although I am powerful, I am not cut out for this. I realized that I desire something more than this so I won't be staying here for long." Vesiro patted Heisch's head. "Make sure to take care of the family, alright?"
"Eh?" Heisch stood in his spot unmoving. His mind couldn't process what he just heard right now.
"Vesiro, are you sure you want to do that? You can still take it. This is your last chance." Welkanor reminded him once again.
Vesiro chuckled and said, "Fine, I'll take it."
Everyone sighed in relief. But at the same time, they felt like there was more to this.
"Now, as the head of the Nacoris family, I will give the title of being the head to Hesich Nacoris and 90% of the training resources and Divinium strengthening resources must be given to him as priority. The way he wants to distribute the resources to others is up to him." Vesiro smiled at Heisch.
Everyone sighed in the room except for Heisch.
"Brother… you could've gotten stronger and you could've gotten many things that you would've wanted.. Why are you doing this?" Heisch was happy that Vesiro did this for him, but he also wanted to know why he did.
Vesiro walked towards a window and looked outside. "I want to go far away from here… However, I need someone to take care of our family while I'm gone." Vesiro turned his head towards Heisch. "Listen to me Heisch, you're a genius and you have a lot of potential. It's just that you don't have the interest to push yourself further. Honestly, when we were all still Pragius ranked, your progress actually scared me. However, you suddenly lost interest after mother's death and you didn't bother to catch up to us."
Vesiro laughed and said, "And after we encountered Chrysos.. I saw the flames of desire that you had back then light up once more. So please, take care of the family and I pray to the Divine ones that you become the best version of yourself." Vesiro lowered himself and patted Heisch's head.
Heisch smiled happily and said, "Don't worry brother, I'll do as you wish."
Vesiro was slightly stunned, but he smiled back once he saw the same flames reignite in Heisch's eyes.
"That's my brother…" Vesiro was relieved.
…
..
.
From afar, Chrysos watched on top of a tree as the one of the five moons in the sky shone brightly behind him.
"Well that went smoothly.." Chrysos took out one of his gloves and looked at his hand.
He moved his fingers before clenching his hands. "This weakness is only temporary.. I'll be back for you." Chrysos glared into the skies and swore in his mind.
"I'll be back for all of you!"
