The Aeternus Universe

The year of humanity is 2415, and DDVR and VRMMORPG's are commonplace now. It's extremely hard for a new game to come out and be successful. The greats of these genres have ruled for a few centuries now. A new game is releasing soon, and it has promise to be one of those. The Aeternus Universe. A Virtual Reality game has what you would expect from a game in this genre. However, some things make it special. One of those being the exploration and adventure through galaxies and The Aeternus Universe. Other games in this genre take it to fantasy and medieval times. This is set in a universe where there are super advanced technologies, spaceships, and Mecha suits—lost Alien tech ready to be found and claimed. Some of these all come together. The story starts 2 days before the release of the game, and with our protagonist—a 20-year-old male by the name of Scott Autumn. He is one of the few jumping from the current major game to this one. Seeing its potential for greatness and chance to be one of the biggest games on the market.

~~~(POV: Scott Autumn)~~~
I make my way over toward a bench now that I'm done applying the color. Umbral Blue looks wonderful on it. I open my player interface and scroll to my friend's tab. I open it and see a single name. Not gonna lie. That hurts a bit.
Seeing how alone I really am isn't that fun. I click on Jessica's name and send her a message that it's ready. I close the interface, and I look at the magnificent starship.
It's better than Autumn's fall in every way. I'll admit, I'm jealous. However, I have every intention of upgrading my ship using EXP once I get enough.
While I'm looking at the two ships, Pleiknor walks in and makes his way over to me. He smiles slightly and indicates that he wants to speak. "Aegis is waiting on the hologram in the apartment. They said that they needed to speak to you." I'm betting it's a problem with the designs.
I don't understand what's so hard about building their superweapon. All the technology exists, and I'm sure they want to spare themselves the embarrassment of constantly coming to me for any problems they have. I stand up with a sigh and make my way toward the apartment.
Once I've navigated the offices, I enter through the sliding door, and I see a new scientist and Zenera waiting in a holographic image above the center table in front of the couch.
I make my way over, and I can see the tired and stressed look of the scientist. "What is it this time, Zenera? I'm busy right now." I can tell she takes my words seriously. I know I'm an important person to Aegis.
She looks at the man with a gaze that says if you screw anything up. I'll toss you headfirst into a black hole myself.
The scientist takes a small breath to calm himself.
He holds a datapad in his hand. "I'm sorry that we've bothered you so much regarding the designs of the superweapon. However, while the parts and technology exist, we can't put them together. The blueprints are too sophisticated for us or any of our computers to understand. We need your help." I look at Zenera, and I can see her trying to fight back a scowl at the man's words.
However, this time she doesn't mute the call. They really are desperate. I didn't think a megacorp like Aegis would have trouble interpreting the blueprints.
I take a seat on the couch and give it some thought. Why should I help them any more than I already have? They have the blueprints and the technology for their superweapon.
It's not my fault they're too stupid to make the weapon from the blueprints. "Let me ask you something, Zenera." She lifts her head and tries to keep an elegant and regal face.
Her frustration with their incompetence is present. "You have everything you need, and I did that for free. Why should I do any more help considering how easy it is?" She glares at the scientist.
I sigh and watch the hologram go mute again, and he says a few words.
I watch the scientist leave with a destroyed look. "I'm sorry to bother you about this again, Scott. But your blueprints are too ahead of their time for us to do anything with them. Is there any way you'd be willing to make them more simple?" I can tell that her asking that question hurts her pride greatly.
She may not be at the top of the corporate ladder, but she's a high-ranking officer in Aegis. Instead of answering her, I reach for the terminal and turn off the call.
It's not my responsibility to do anything regarding their superweapon project. I hear the door to the apartment slide open, and I see Jess.
She runs towards me and leaps onto me before I can even stand up. "I absolutely love it! Can I name it now!?" She's more excited about this than I've seen her about anything else in recent memory. I chuckle and peel her off me.
We both stand up, and I walk to the workshop with the bouncing ball of energy right next to me. She's going to love all the things I've done with the ship.
