A Classic Gamer Protagonist Appears

1 Day Ago, Gotham City.

A man woke up from a dumpster breathing heavily. He blinked his eyes in confusion as his memories merged with the previous holder of the body. That man had died, but shortly after another soul had taken its place.

"It's really not a dream." The man muttered to himself.

At the corner of his vision, he could make out a small interface for his usage. Of course, he was not surprised by this interface, after all this is one of his wishes from the ROB he met before arriving here. His name was Edgar Montgomery in his past life, he had died when he got hit by a truck and met a 'god' who said he would grant him 2 wishes as compensation for his 'mistake'. The 'god' said he was aiming the truck for the guy next to him and hit him by mistake.

Edgar's pride was hit when he realized he had been killed by mistake, but he had been a degenerate in his past life and read many online novels involving this cliche scenario. He couldn't believe that it was all true! He really transmigrated into a new body... in the DC universe.

Edgar was filled with adrenaline and excitement about his new life. He would live his life to the fullest, have a harem of at least 8 to 9 women, and he would enjoy power from his wishes. He quickly opened the interface menu of his 'GAMER' system he wished to explore his powers.

Edgar read over his GAMER interface but his face grimaced at his last wish. He wished he could create gold so he would always have something to trade and gain wealth, but I guess that 'god' took the time to mess with him since he didn't specify how he could create gold.

"Well... it could be worse. I just hope it isn't as painful as it sounds" Edgar muttered with a face like he had eaten a lemon.

Edgar wandered the streets of the city of Gotham and spent the next two days unlocking skills with his GAMER system. He gained the skill [Observe] from staring at someone for long enough and he gained the skill [Pain Resistance] from when he had to take a shit. He was not very happy to gain that skill at the time. Thankfully, it didn't hurt as much after leveling [Pain Resistance] a couple of times, and now Edgar was ready to go and pawn off some of his gold. He took some time to find a good place that was out of the way to sell off his gold. He didn't want anyone to track him and find out his secrets.

He ended up finding a very shady-looking pawn shop called, [Destiny's Call] which he thought would be perfect if they could buy his gold from him. He threw an [Observe] on the building and learned it had opened here only a day ago. It would be a great place to sell off his goods since it was so new.

*Dinglingling*

He pushed open the door to the rickety pawnshop and glanced around the inside. The shop was... not any better looking on the inside. It still had some evidence of wear and tear on the sides of the walls, with holes and tears in the wallpaper. At the counter, there was a man who was fanning himself with a Japanese fan lightly and leaning back in a leather chair comfortably.

"Ah, hello customer! What can I help you with today?" the man said with an abundance of enthusiasm that made Edgar cringe a little.

He hurriedly threw an observe on the man to find out his details.

Edgar saw the data from observation and was really confused. He wondered if his GAMER system skill was broken. The values didn't make any sense! And what is that note? Is that helpful? Edgar quickly recovered his shock and twitched a smile on his face, before responding to Jack.

"Yes, absolutely. I have a few things I'd like to get off my hands. Do you buy gold? I happen to have a few gold nuggets from my family inheritance." Edgar made up a lie casually.

"Hmm, of course, but I'll have to see it." Jack nodded with a very serious look in his eyes.

"Alright," Edgar agreed and pulled out the two... golden nuggets he had with him from his pockets.

"And how much are you looking to get?" Jack asked, trying to pretend to be casual about it.

"I was hoping to get the market price, I checked that it is quite good recently and so.. "

"WAIT! I'll need to call in an expert." Jack interrupted with a loud yell, which startled Edgar back a step.

'You need an expert? To further identify the purity of the gold... aren't there simpler ways to do that? Do we really need to call someone specific to verify?' Edgar started questioning if coming to this shop was the correct decision, but he didn't have to think for long.

*Dinglingling*

"I'm here, Jack. I got your call. You said this guy's golden needed a check-up? You know my rate... pay me as usual." Another man walked in through the door... no it was the same guy but he was wearing a monocle!

"Huh?!" Edgar did a double take and looked back and forth between Jack behind the counter and 'expert' Jack who was wearing the same shirt and shorts but had a monocle on his right eye.

"Hmm, this gold is complete shit. " The 'expert' Jack said with a solemn expression.

Edgar started sweating internally. He was so confused and started to doubt reality, did this expert really see through his ability to shit gold. Would he still be able to sell it? Would this shop tell the other shops about him and warn him off? NO! Wait, it's impossible to tell. It's real gold, I am sure of it. He wills till buy it off me. Impossible!

"Sir, please it's been in my family as an heirloom for generations I..." Edgar started to lie between his teeth again, suppressing the fears in his heart.

"It's shit gold, I've seen it before and I can't be wrong. 100%. Boss, I don't recommend taking this dirty thing, unless you go 30% under the market value. It's definitely not worth it." the 'expert' Jack explained 'generously' to the 'boss' Jack behind the counter.

"Hmm" 'Boss' Jack rubbed his chin while thinking deeply.

"What do you think? You heard the expert. I'll pay you 30% under market value for this." 'Boss' Jack said with a sincere 'I'm doing you a favor expression on his face.

"Well, whatever it's your call. I'm just the expert, you're the boss." the 'expert' Jack said while walking out of the store in a huff after his job was done.

"I... I agree with your offer." Edgar stuttered from anxiety.

"Excellente! Just sign here, here, here, aaaannnndd~ here." Jack said as he pulled out a large sale contract for the gold nuggets. It stated that it would be transferred for 30% under the market value.

*Pen signing noises*

"Thank youuuu~" Jack said with a shit-eating grin.

Jack pushed a small suitcase from under the counter across it to Edgar before leaving.

"Make sure you come back~!!" Jack yelled out as Edgar left with a large suitcase of money with the exact amount for the gold.

Edgar was walking in a daze, really confused about what had happened. He glanced at the suitcase and then back to the [Destiny Calls] shop behind him and shivered.

'Nope NOPE to crazy to be around this place any longer' He muttered to himself as he hurriedly left the area.
