016 The five elements

The next morning Liam woke up at 6 30 so he could have time to get ready. When he got out of the room to wash himself, he saw Ralph and Aria already waiting for him.

"Come on, hurry up!" Ralph said to him. Liam thought he had plenty of time but he still hurried and got ready. The three of them went out, and for Liam and Ralph it was their first day of classes in their new sect.

Liam noticed that Aria had Molly, her cat soul pet, with her.

"Do you bring her around everywhere?" Liam was still very interested in soul pets.

"I do, if someone were to attack me, I can't protect myself." Aria said with a warm smile on her face, while she was petting Molly.

When they were almost near, where the classes were supposed to take place. Two boys that seemed the same age as them stood in their path.

"You two, come here. The girl can go." One of the boys said and Aria looked down and hurriedly past them and entered the building.

Liam felt a bit betrayed but he remembered that after all, they knew each other for less than a day. Liam couldn't sense their cultivation level, so the must have been even stronger than him.

"I heard that they caught 2 new runaways that were sent to our sect. I guess I found them." The other boy said.

"I don't know if you know the rules around here, but I'll tell you. You won't survive alone."

"Give us 10 credits a week and you'll be under the protection of the golden eagles. And if you don't? We'll give you something to fear." The boy said as he laughed with his friend next to him. Then they walked away and when they passed Liam and Ralph, one of them purposefully bumped into Ralph, pushing him to the ground.

"Ralph! How can we let them do that?" Liam was furious.

"Calm down. I told you what life at a sect would be like. They are fifth human realm cultivators, at the peak of the outer court disciples. Also, did you see the tag under the emblem on their robe. They are a part of the Golden eagle faction." Ralph said as he sighed and clapped his hands to rid them of the dust and dirt from the ground.

"Faction? And they said something about credits? I know about silver, gold and spirit stones, but I haven't heard of credits." Liam was confused and angry about the whole situation.

"Credits. They are a popular currency used in sects. They only hold value in the sect, that way it ensures that anything the disciples earn goes right back to the sect. You can earn them by doing the quests and selling stuff on the market. I just don't know how much 10 credits are worth." Ralph explained as he got up.

"Let's go to class, or we'll be late. And factions are groups of disciples that have formed their own group, to feel more powerful and protect themselves from others. If you are on the weaker side and not in a faction, you'll get treated like we just were." What Ralph said was quite depressing. It all made Liam want to get stronger.

When they entered the enormous amphitheater that had hundreds of rows and looked like it could fit more than ten thousand disciples, Liam was quite shocked. This world just kept surprising him more and more. A good part of everyone he knew existed previously could fit in just this amphitheater. And this is just one Amphitheater in one sect in the southern continent. Just how big is this world.

"Aria is over there, let's go sit next to her." Ralph somehow spotted Aria amongst all the people.

"Don't worry, we aren't angry about what happened outside." Liam said when they got next to her.

"You aren't? I am sorry, but I am incapable of fighting." Aria was a ashamed and a bit too embarrassed to look at them.

"Don't worry, those guys were strong. We couldn't do anything either way." Liam comforted her again, then everyone got quiet as the teacher entered.

"Good morning, everyone! I am elder Mo and I will be your teacher for today." Elder Mo projected his voice with his qi, and with the ingenious design of the amphitheater, everyone managed to hear him clearly.

"Today's lesson will concern the five basic elements. As many of you may already know, they are Water, Fire, Earth, Metal, Wood. These five are the basic elements and all of you have been born with at least one of these." Elder Mo began their lecture, but then a disciple raised their hand. Liam recognized the student as the boy who bumped into Ralph.

"Yes Riley?" The elder asked the disciple.

"I was born with the element of Gold." Riley said proudly before he sat down again with a smug look on his face.

"We'll get to that later, thank you for sharing." The elder replied surprisingly politely, as his expression gave of that he was annoyed.

"Now, where was I? You can all find a basic cultivation technique for each of the five elements in the spirit hall. The cultivation technique will take you to the fifth human realm and will cost you 100 credits. If you haven't splurged your credits from your weekly quests, you should be very near or may even have enough."

"Now as Riley said. there are other elements, aside from the basic five. Each generation new elements are found and it is unknown if there is a limit or concrete number. These special elements are often stronger than the basic ones. Some people have a special element since birth while other awaken them later on. But most people will never have a special element."

"Don't be discouraged if you never get one. They might be stronger, but because they are so rare, finding a cultivation technique will be very difficult or even impossible." The elder was explaining his subject while everyone listened carefully.

Liam thought to the dark blue liquid as well as the purplish black. He could guess that the dark blue came from the water element, but he had no clue for the other one. He also couldn't use the drops of the black liquid.

"To give an example. I awakened my lava element when I was about your age, but not having any real money to get the cultivation technique I needed I continued cultivating the basic fire cultivation technique until I became an inner court disciple." The elder told his own story and experience.

"If you happen to awake a special element, I suggest you show it off, you might become a personal disciple of one of the elders. Does anyone here have the lava element?" Elder Mo asked.

A disciple with a fiery red hair raised their hand.

"Come here my child." Elder Mo said as he brought the disciple to the front, next to him. "Care for a spar, I want to see what you've got."

"It would be an honor to learn from you, elder." The student bowed down before saying. "My name is Kyle, leader of the flaming faction."

Everyone there knew the top factions. The golden eagle, The flaming and The Cursed.

Liam was very interested. This was the very first time, he would watch a real fight, well it was only a spar. The cultivation technique that Liam learned, called, spirit of the North Sea, did not hold any martial techniques, used to fight. That's why he was so excited about seeing some today.

Kyle knew that the whole point of this spar was for elder Mo to observe his talent and control with the Lava element, so he wasted no time in showing off. He gathered his qi and thrust forward with his hands.

A thin but fast-moving wave of lava appeared from the ground and it was rushing straight towards elder Mo. When the wave got close to elder Mo, it circled him and then disappeared.

"Quite impressive power you have." Elder Mo, acknowledged Kyle's talent with the lava element.

"I'm not done yet." Kyle swung both of his arms forward sending two arks of lava towards elder Mo. Then he performed an axe kick, that made a lava wall appear in front of him as his leg went up and when he brought his leg down, the wall came with it. The wall transformed into a wave of spikes that traveled forward towards elder Mo.

The disciples looked in shock as all of those powerful attacks were sent towards elder Mo, but he didn't even have a scratch on him.

"I like you kid, that last technique. It is similar to one of my own, right?" Elder Mo smiled at Kyle.

"Yes, sir. I admire you a lot, and tried to learn from you." Kyle said, bowing down yet again.

"You're in luck. I ask you, outer court disciple Kyle, to be my personal disciple." Elder Mo said.

"I accept, master." Kyle bowed down even lower.

"Great. Come in front of elders peak after classes." Elder Mo said before he dismissed everyone as their classes were over for the day.
