I Wish I Had A Talent

The year 2022

Outside was scorching hot, but people gathered to do their things. Like any other weekday, students and teachers of Cavite Science Elite Highschool are busy with their tasks. You can see staff running around carrying loads of documents. Teachers are preparing for their next class. Students attentively listen to their teacher.

In the corner of a 4th-floor building sat a youth with a blank face. The teen has average features that are nothing noteworthy. Although he has a slightly better physique, his dull eyes scare most students away.

Astelle was his given name. Astelle's name comes from his mother's name Estella and his father's name Alfred. He excelled in his studies since he was a child. He could already read and write before he was three years old. And besides being good at his studies, Astelle has a unique trait that was hard to find at his age. He was emotionless, even after his mother gave birth to him. His parents had never heard him cry before.

The young couple was worried that something had happened before his birth. So they consulted a doctor and let Astelle go through several tests. But even the best hospital they can afford can't find what is wrong with him.

Astelle keeps staring at the ant trail on the ground, lost in his thoughts. A shoulder pat woke Astelle from his daze. He turns around to find his friend Vyn behind him.

" Astelle, Why are you staring like that? Thinking about your little girlfriend aren't you."

Astelle shook his head and ignored his friend's teasing. Vyn continued with a cheeky smile and said.

" If Nicole finds out that you keep thinking about her, she will probably turn into a tomato again. "

" Shut up "

Astelle said in an emotionless tone. Vyn senses his friend doesn't want to hear his jokes. He shut his mouth and quickly changed the topic.

" By the way, I heard that the Student Council will announce the start of the 'Talent Hunt' this quarter. Aren't you interested? "

" Too troublesome "

After hearing his friend's short emotionless answer, Vyn sighed and looked deeply at his long friend. Astelle is a man of many talents, so much so that he can quickly pick things up after a small lesson. After all his parents were talented individuals as well. Although there is not much known. Their lineage is known for their talents. However, Astelle's family condition now was not very good. After his grandmother passed away, Many of their businesses had been bankrupt. Vyn doesn't know how to feel for his friend. Vyn quickly erased his chaotic thought and turned back to Astelle.

" Well, That's your choice. I head back to our Classroom now. "

' Talent Hunt, I couldn't participate even if I want to .'

Astelle knew that his talents were only mediocre and average at best. He wasn't the super genius that everyone thought. Vyn head upstairs. Astelle was left and lost in his thought again. Before he can sort out the information that Vyn gave him, a group of students surrounds him with an arrogant face.

" Well, Well, Well, Isn't young master Astelle. What are you doing in a place like this? Are you lost? "

A handsome youth speaks mockingly. The people around him laughed their hearts out after hearing the youth's question. Astelle's emotionless eyes turned cold for a second before I turned back to its original appearance. The group of students didn't catch Astelle expression and continued to laugh out loud. The handsome youth signals them to stop with a wave of his hand.

" What is on about, Mathew?! "

" You know why I am here. You better stay away from Nicole! or else. "

Mathew said in a threatening tone different from his mocking manner earlier. Astelle shrugs at Mathew's tone.

" Or else what? Kill me, ruin my reputation. That's what a small-time villain would say.

Let me be clear with you. First of all, I have little to no reputation at all. Even if I have, I don't care, and are you threatening to kill me? Can your Third-rate family do that? "

Astelle statement hit hard into Mathew. He also knows that every word Astelle said was the truth. His family just have risen to fame because of his father. They don't hold that much power. If the news spread what happened here, The reputation that his father built up may collapse. Mathew gritted his teeth in anger but quickly changed it to a mocking smile.

" Well, maybe your right. We don't possess that kind of authority yet. But at least I can expel a student, especially an elementary school student. I was wondering if that is threatening enough. "

Astelle's eyes turn cold after hearing what Mathew said. Seeing Astelle's expressionless turn cold, his smile grew wider and continued.

" Well, I heard from my father that some companies are reducing old employees due to a sudden influx of new talents. "

" You know what to do, right? I give you a day to consider my 'proposal'. "

Mathew signals his lackeys to follow him. They left Astelle rooted in the ground in a daze. 'Today is a very unlucky day.' Astelle thought. He quickly shooked his head and prepared to go upstairs when a tremendous tremor shook the earth. Astelle almost loses his balance because of the sudden earthquake.

' What's going on? '

Astelle quickly regained his balance and searched for a suitable cover from the falling debris. Screams filled the whole school as other unfortunate students were crushed by huge rocks. Chaos, absolute chaos can only describe what was the whole world experience at this very moment. The earthquake wreak havoc to all country USA, China, Japan and even the smallest countries weren't spared. After several minutes, the earthquake had passed. The earth suddenly stayed still like nothing had happened.

If not for the mess around them, they would have thought that the earthquake was a dream. Just as everyone was puzzled what had happen a mechanical voice echoes into everyone's head.
