The only glitch in that plan was it wasn’t going to work.

“You’re not really in a position to sling insults,” Benning said. He crossed his arms over his chest and looked down at Todd, an expression of annoyance on his face.

Todd snorted. “There’s never a bad time for insults.” He eased himself farther up the wall. “You’re going to kill me.”

Nick slipped through the door, crouched low, and began sprinkling drops of oil as close to Benning as Todd knew he dared get.

“That’s not really a question since you know the answer,” Benning replied.

“Just making sure we’re on the same page. Why haven’t you already?” Todd wanted more than anything to let his gaze slide to Nick and watch his mate’s progress like a hawk. Doing that would be a certain tip-off to Nick’s position, though. So, Todd concentrated on keeping his focus on Benning.
