Tethered Pair

Wars are fought on many fronts. A battle is raging across New Colorado Protectorate with both human and demonic players. Todd and Nick Ruger are sentries with an arsenal of talents and training to combat threats from a variety of enemies. Todd and Nick are given a mission to find and stop weapons smugglers by going undercover on the riverboat, Annabelle. These aren't typical arms dealers, they're demons and they're not afraid of a pair of sentries. The Rugers will have to use all their skills and their most powerful weapon, the bond between them, just to stay alive. Stopping the supply of illegal weapons turns to trying, and failing, to thwart an assassination. Todd and Nick have each other, but will they be able to keep their love intact?

Chapter 34

Snow pushed off Todd, breaking the hold he had on Todd, spun, and ran. Todd gasped and pulled in a few deep breaths. “What the hell?” He wiped a hand over his face and looked at Nick.

“We have business.” Benning was in front of Todd, though Todd never actually saw him move

“Later,” Todd snapped, shoving Benning to the side as he sprinted around the man.

“That guy keeps running away,” Nick muttered as he trailed a few paces behind Todd.

Todd was fast; there weren’t many people who could outrun him. Nick had the advantage of longer legs than most, but it seemed to Todd the closest he could get to Snow was to catch glimpses of the man ducking around a corner. He couldn’t get near enough to Snow to make a grab or even brush his fingers against Snow’s back. Todd could hear Nick’s breathing no more than inches from him.
