Terminus's Edge

A world broken by unholy and demonic invasion for hundreds of years. As the various races of the planet fight for their world's future. A time of upheaval is coming once more after a time of temporary peace given to them at the sacrifices of the heroes of old. Yet that was over a hundred years ago as the heroes of the past have long since turned to dust as time starts to move forward as old enemies set foot once more into their world. What actually brought about this tragedy and suffering to their once vibrant world? Even now after hundreds of years the answer to this question had yet to be answered, only that the surviving races and people of this world know of it all starting from within the ruins of the once powerful Senhernian Empire of the far away central continent. Yet all is not lost as a prophecy from one of the last elven oracles that had foreseen their salvation before his death at the hands of the infernal hordes. That the one to finally bring an end to their suffering would come bearing the sign of the brilliant sun upon his body! ** A long time reader of many different genre's of books. Now trying my hand at actually writing one.

Prologue

*WHUMP*.....

'What….was that….noise?.....' He thought even as he could feel himself drifting through total darkness. Was he asleep or was he awake? He couldn't even tell right at that moment as he wanted nothing more than to just keep feeling this way. This moment where there wasn't any worries, pain or a need to think. This state of limbo where he drifted aimlessly in this sea of nothingness felt so soothing and comforting.

 *WHUMP*.....

'There it was…again….' Who was it or rather what was it that was disturbing his peaceful slumber? Even as he just thought to dismiss it once more only for a piercing cry to suddenly bring him crashing back to reality and incredible pain.

"NO STOP! DON'T DO THIS PLEASE!!!" The sound of a woman's piercing cry of fear and terror finally roused him out of his stupor as he groaned out feeling piercing pain enveloping his entire body as his eyes opened up.

His vision was still hazy even as he could hear the sounds of a battle occurring all around him, the clashing of metal upon metal or flesh, the sounds of magic being discharged and the cries of both man and inhuman coming from everywhere at once. He could finally see clearly as he realized he was laying on the ground and looking up at an incredibly wide and huge ceiling spanning as though it would never end and how there was a dome of blue light covering a huge area.

Turning his head he could see people fighting off various kinds of demons and undead as both sides kept adding to the ever growing pile of bodies on the floor as their blood flowed freely. Yet what caught his eyes the most was the beautiful shimmering blue light that seemed to surround the entire area and something red continuously crashing against it from the outside.

Focusing his attention to the source of someone crying nearby and seeing a young girl dressed in the garbs of a high priestess with tears streaming down her beautiful face and looking so intently in a direction as she was held back by two other priestesses. It was probably her sounds of distress that had woken him up.

Turning his eyes slowly to look at what she was looking at with such a sorrowful look, he finally saw what was holding the girl's attention. There atop a pile of rubble in front of them a young boy stood there grasping a magnificent tower shield in his hands.

It was obvious the shield was far too large for him let alone how he could even lift it, what even more so it seemed like the blue shimmering light surrounding everyone seemed to be coming from the shield itself. As he saw the mismatched pair fending off a powerful undead that was outside the shield of blue light, that was the source of what he can now tell is intense and powerful flames that's attacking the blue dome of energy.

Realization finally dawned on him as he regained his senses of his surroundings, crying out in sheer agony as he willed his broken body to move! Managing to finally prop himself up on a single arm with his other broken one dangling by his side.

"WA......…" His voice was drowned out by a deafening sound as a flash of bright white light enveloped everyone and nothing else was heard.
