June 15th, the year 2018.
"Okay, sit up slowly," Sammy Carbonel, Xian Santos's mother, mumbled. She guided his son by holding his back. Xian grunted as he felt the cast around his right arm clenched tighter on the skin underneath as he sat up.
He breathed a sigh of relief as he settled down. His mother sat back down on the stool while pouring him a full glass of water. Xian gripped the glass in his left hand and downed the water in one gulp.
He exhaled and gave back the glass to her mother. As he was supposed to close his eyes for a moment, there came a knock on the door. Sammy stood up from the stool and opened the door. A red-haired girl peeked over outside.
Xian recognized her as the kitchen staff from Kelly's Diner, Michie.
"Hello, ma'am," she muttered and bowed down her head as a sign of respect. Sammy also did the same and looked over Xian. Sammy's questioned face stared at the red-haired girl that visited him early at night.
Xian recovered from the surprise and introduced, "She is Michie, mom. My... my former schoolmate at Del Rio University. We were also once in the same class when I was in my 3rd year, Mom."
Michie shot her head up and looked straight at Xian, while furrowing her eyebrows. Xian widened his eyes a little, as if saying that she should go along with Xian's alibi. Michie opened her mouth a little, darted her eyes back again to Xian's mother, nodding.
"Y-yeah. Xian was my schoolmate back then at Del Rio University," Michie stammered. She smiled nervously. Sammy shot up her eyebrows and nodded, too. Xian beamed as her mother stared at him. He said it so that his mom wouldn't suspect Michie.
"Okay. Since you are here, Michie, can you take guard of him first?" Sammy asked Michie. She agreed, while taking a seat down on the long couch. Sammy rummaged over a bag on the bedside table, retrieving a tiny wallet. Michie observed Xian's mother from head to toe.
She's wearing an off-shoulder dandelion shirt paired with high-waisted slacks, low pony-tailed hair. To top it all off, corn silk 2 inches heels. Michie's astonished to see an international and honorable theater actress in front of her. Either his mother or father must inhibit Xian's looks. Sammy finally faced the two after a minute and smiled at them.
"I'll buy some dinner downstairs at the restaurant. Do you want something, Michie?" Sammy asked politely.
Michie opened her mouth, shame overlooking, and shrugged, "Anything, ma'am."
Sammy chuckled and wagged her hand, saying, "Don't call me ma'am. Just call me Aunt Sammy, or better yet, Sammy."
Michie grinned and muttered, "Oh, right. Okay, Aunt Sammy."
"Alright, I'll leave you two for a couple of minutes. Just stay here, Michie," Sammy reminded her, and fled the room. Michie heard the click-clacking sound of the heels. It descended towards the end of the hallway and vanished after a minute.
Xian stared at Michie, who was wearing a plain, cobalt shirt tucked in a denim skirt with sneakers for a chic look. He smiled as Michie approached and sat down carefully on the stool beside his bed.
"Hello, sir Xian," Michie beamed.
Xian creased his forehead and asked, "You have been visiting at night these days now, what's gotten into you?"
Michie shrugged and mumbled, "I just want to check on you. Is there any problem?"
Xian shook his head and whispered, "No, nothing at all."
Michie bit her lip and stuttered, "Is it uncomfortable for you I am here every day?"
Xian disagreed with it and replied, "It's okay. At least someone is visiting me these past few days."
Michie tucked in her hair behind her ear and told her day to Xian. They talked comfortably to each other.
They didn't realize that Sammy came back, bursting the door open with paper bags in both hands. Michie looked over there quickly and stood up to help Sammy with the food.
As they settled and opened the bento boxes one by one, they talked to each other while Sammy fed up with her son. The three of them laughed as Michie told jokes she heard from her former fellow kitchen staff, Rax.
When they finished their meal, Sammy's cell phone rang. They're interrupted by their ongoing conversation. Sammy answered it quickly and widened her eyes. She looked straight at Xian.
"Xian, I need to go. Something urgent came upon the studios. They need me there," Sammy muttered, and stood up from her seat in a haste. She slung over her shoulder bag and kissed Xian on the forehead. Before her son could say anything, Sammy went outside of the room hurriedly.
"She is always busy these days," Xian whispered to himself. Michie heard that and pursed her lips.
"By the way, Xian, where is your girlfriend? Is she not coming tonight?" Michie asked out of the blue while stacking up the black bento boxes on top of one another. She looked over at Xian in a minute as he didn't respond as quickly as she thought.
Xian sighed and said, "She hasn't come for five days now. Maybe she is busy with her work."
Michie averted her eyes downwards and walked towards the trash bin. She threw the boxes inside and faced Xian again.
"For five days now? She didn't even chat or text you?" Michie asked in a low voice.
Xian shrugged, pointed out, "I knew she was really busy, but she only texted me once. To ask if I was okay, that's all."
Michie didn't respond for quite some time, and silence succumbed to the entire room. Xian lay back down again, asking for Michie's help. He closed his eyes peacefully and slumber a moment after.
Michie didn't move in her place and put her hands above the metal railings on the side, and stared at Xian's face. She knew she cannot capture Xian's heart, but she was falling in love with him over the days now.
She raised her hand bit by bit towards Xian's untangled hair. Michie knew Xian fell asleep right after he lay down. She traced Xian's face with her fingertips and gasped. Michie can't believe that her face inched closer to the man she fell in love with at first sight.
Michie scrutinized Xian's eyelids, his pointed nose. When she reached Xian's philtrum, she gasped. She wanted to kiss those lips. She wanted to be Xian's girl. How can she control the temptation to inch her face closer to his face when she knew no one was around? Even his mother was not here.
His girlfriend, Margo Monteverde, doesn't have plans on visiting him tonight.
As she leaned down her face towards him, some evil thought crossed her mind. She tilted her head towards the bedside table and saw a cell phone there. She grinned and picked it up. Michie peeped over Xian first to make sure that he was really asleep and opened it while smirking.
"Let's see," Michie whispered as she opened the cell phone. She's surprised to see no security passcodes or fingerprint recognition available. Michie opened the LAN data network of the phone and clicked the chat buttons.
Before she pressed the conversation between Xian and Margo, she tiptoed to the other side of the bed. She silently put down the railings so she could hop onto the bed.
She lay down on his side, facing him, and her breath quickened as soon as she draped her arms over Xian's abdomen. He didn't even flinch, probably in the wake of a dream coming. Michie felt the butterflies in her stomach coming as she bit her lip.
She felt Xian's abdomen right underneath her arms. Her desire intensified, like fuel added to the flame.
She hastily opened Xian's cellphone and clicked Margo's conversation for him. She saw several sweet exchange messages between them as she scrolled up. Michie shook her head and pressed the video chat button.
Her plan to break them apart will be a success.
Michie grinned and positioned her right hand first on the front camera, blocking it. It will puzzle Margo why her boyfriend was calling. She raised her head as she heard Margo's voice over the line. Michie opened her mouth and kissed Xian. Michie felt Xian's grunt underneath, and she smiled while kissing him torridly. Xian responded to her, that made her heart thump in every beat.
"Hello? Hello? Honey, are you there?!" Margo's worried voice asked over the line.
They both moaned in each other's lips. Xian's knocked out from the dose of medicine. When Michie knew that this was the right time to reveal their scene, she removed her hand from the front camera. They still succumbed to each other's lips as Michie heard Margo's gasping from the other end of the line.
Michie made sure that she recorded this live chat.
Xian raised his left hand and held Michie's face, not knowing that it was not Margo. When someone shouted over the line, that was when Xian opened his eyes so wide. Michie had broken apart from the kiss when Xian shoved her away. She ended the recording and stood up from the bed while gazing straight into his eyes.
Xian breathed rapidly as he furrowed his eyebrows over Michie. He sat up hastily and grunted as he felt the pain on his arm and pointed at Michie.
"What are you doing, Michie?" Xian spat out and Michie jumped at her place. He held his forehead with his left arms and peered over the bedside table. He saw his cell phone was not there, so he quickly glared at Michie. Michie hid Xian's cellphone on her back rapidly. Xian was still staring straight into her eyes.
"Where is my cell phone?" Xian asked. Michie looked over at him and didn't answer.
"Give it to me!" Xian shouted, which made Michie frightened at him. She glanced at Xian and swallowed.
"What did you do?" Xian asked her again as Michie drooped her dead down and sulked her shoulders.
"What, do you think I can love you for doing this?" Xian hissed at her. Michie finally looked up and approached Xian slowly.
"Xian, I like you! So badly. That's why...," Michie didn't want to continue what she was about to say when she realized the evil thing she did. She ruined a happy relationship by butting in and loving Xian. Her conscience emerged. She was still on the verge of thinking about destroying everything between Margo and Xian.
Xian looked away. The tears were emerging, and mumbled, "I thought you're Margo. I've been longing for her kiss these days. But here you are, ruining everything."
Michie clenched her jaw and knuckled her fists. How was Margo so different from her?
"I am no different from Margo, Xian. How can you not love me?" Michie asked desperately. Xian chuckled and shook his head.
"I love Margo, Michie. So please, I don't want to waste that joy I felt over her for years now, just for you! You are so in despair, you want us in annihilation!" Xian bellowed, which made Michie unable to move.
"Get out! And I don't want to see your face again!" Xian shrieked as Michie's tears poured down. She placed the cell phone on the bed and bolted out of the door.
