"What did you say?" Silas asked, his features etched with a stormy intensity. "Theft?" His voice was a low growl, his eyes narrowing with suspicion as he drew nearer to Emma.
Emma's heart pounded with apprehension as she met his gaze. She nodded in affirmation. "I know who did that."
Silas wasted no time in issuing his commands, "Caleb, seal the gates. No one should leave the office until my next order."
He ended the call and stormed into his cabin, asking Emma to follow him.
Esme stopped sobbing as she saw Silas returning with Emma trailing behind him. "Emma!" she mumbled in a daze.
Emma glanced at her before entering Silas's cabin.
"Lock the door," Silas commanded as he stalked towards his chair. Emma's hands trembled slightly as she obeyed, the click of the lock echoing in the sudden quiet.
